  1. pick up the phone takes just a very few minutes sometimes Malc
  2. there's many not on the " compare " sites these days Malc
  3. Michael, so sorry to hear of this disaster with your beloved Ls400 Echo all the above really .......... what mileage has she done and when was the cambelt last changed and at what mileage ? did the garage place an appropriate sticker on the engine somewhere ? NOW .... . is she a Mk3 or a Mk4 car ? ....... and can you share the reg no. ? We are all so inquisitive on here you know 😅 Best wishes Malc
  4. I think all insurers want to do the " right thing " but only by their shareholders and if they can promote themselves as being good for the client . us car owners . then so be it . Shisters all of 'em methinks Malc
  5. Ron . reading their Annual Report and Accounts I would think the Owners . Directors are very very Toyota " aware " and their whole specific business is geared towards Toyota Toyota Toyota . so for the first few years i would think their psyche is to " perform " very well for their specific Toyota ( Lexus ) client base tbh Malc
  6. funny you should say that . New Zealand Govt is introducing cow number restrictions in light of the known emission s ( scandal ) coming from the mouths of cows ........ and i'm being serious too Malc
  7. Wot about a Ls600 ?? Malc
  8. You're absolutely " spot on " . you can get an awful lot of Amayama / Rockauto / LexusPartsDirect comfort to repair an old Ls400 .. and it's simple technology to sort out Reading earlier here somewhere about a new EV ? Merc driver's screen going blank and taking weeks and weeks and £000s to sort out ..... so WHY would one want to put oneself thru' all that angst Simple old fashioned Ls400 technology, supreme comfort, reliability and V8 oomph is all one, well me anyway, can ask for Malc
  9. I've thought about this time and time again AND decided against . it would NOT be changing " up " in my opinion AND would be accompanied with silly expensive bills for things that just wouldn't arise on my / an Ls400 ...... take the steering column rake adjustment for instance . going to cost me a washer to fix on mine or maybe £2k on an Ls460 ....... and it goes on and on and on methinks .... it's your money so take's your choice ....... the Ls400 ( Mk3 ) is the way to go and to remain if one is fortunate to already own one Malc
  10. just a thought ....... isn't the 20 year age of a RX300 going to make you ultra ultra wary of where to place a trolley jack . with all the likely rust areas that might prevail Maybe a cautionary placing of a supplementary scaffold board or two to spread the load might be suggested ! Good luck Malc
  11. I'm afraid I'd have to be a little churlish and have another Mk3 ............ 🤣 Malc
  12. and they only lost £12mn on their full 2nd year of trading ... in 2021 ... let's see how long their owners, one of the largest insurers in the world, are happy to continue in this philanthropic vein 🤣 Malc
  13. perhaps of some advantage then ! Malc
  14. David, just one Q ........ . have you actually bought a Ls430 yet ? Malc
  15. Ron . it's a nightmare ... I stuck with them this year in the end coz it was tooooo much kefuffle to do all the myriad of on-line paperwork and new driving licence certification stuff etc to move away to the BEST QUOTE I had which was from Chris Knott .. the other quotes i had were in cloud cuckoo land tbh ........... Chris Knott were pleasantly HUMAN on the phone The Saga price I have is on their 3 year fixed price deal ( with caveats of course ) and for £47 extra I decided i would leave it all with Saga .. especially as I was struggling just then sorting out some issues with my company accounts preparation ..... £47 seemed a small price to pay to get it all behind me tbh . and on the 3 year scheme coz I'm now 73 and heaven knows what will happen when I'm 75 turning and Old Age might finally begin to creep up on me . and insurance pricing eh ! 🤑 ALSO they, Saga, were all ok when I had my knock in Oct 2019 . but only just ok tho' . .........maybe my expectations of the Saga claims experience even then were too high 🤔 An earlier time knock on the Honda Legend involving Adrian Flux resulted in my vowing NEVER to ever use them again ...... I felt totally cheated under their " care " BACK to SAGA . being a long term client . some 8 years ( and with 15 years protected NCD they told me ? ) . I did manage to beat them up on the final price . they seem to respect " loyalty " . so they said anyway Good luck with it all Malc
  16. seeing the other post about counterfeit ones I think your best bet would be to just order them from Lexus / Toyota Main Dealer parts dept You'd get the correct ones for sure Malc
  17. Chips chips chips ......... too hard and the wrong cooking oil cause all sorts of issues Malc
  18. the Chinese syndrome ......... thinking it's cheep cheap cheep BUT all the while subversively undermining our transport system by making our vehicles defunct .. all part of the Russian Chinese threat to undermine us in our day to day lives and to stop us providing support to Ukraine maybe ......... China has openly stated it stands side by side to support Russia in all it does and wishes to do SO bugger-up all UK transport by providing crap fake components seems a good way to go ! Malc Please ignore this if my thoughts upset anyone supporting this China Russia pact 🤫 . I think there's maybe a drone heading my way 😇
  19. Thank you soooooo much I'll explore it all in a little when the weather warms ............. A brilliant mine of information Malc
  20. nope, it's Noorpak at Aldi . and that's not counterfeit . it's probably better butter than Luuuurp stuff anyway . cheaper whatever . or should i say less expensive .. nowt's cheap these days Don't plugs these days last 100k miles ? Malc
  21. it's quite disgraceful that Lexus fail to provide easy to get stock of ALL product OEM . unless it's Chip related right now ... or do Lexus windscreens involve " chips " in some way or other ? Malc
  22. You clever guys ......... is there a simple instruction on how to deal with this issue ? I'm understanding on my age car it's simple washers involved and NOT the expensive mullarkey electronics etc Thanks for any thoughts you may have .............. the in-out is fine it's the up-down adjustment that's only just begun to not adjust Malc
  23. Reminds me of visiting the Alfa Romeo place in Canterbury Kent many many years ago . beautiful cars of course ... the workshop was FULL, and I mean full, of engines on workbenches being repaired ...... saw a neighbour has a beautiful 67 plate, nearly new wonderful red Alfa Romeo parked along the road . wonder for how long ! Malc
  24. I would certainly call Lexus at the Centre UK and ask them outright I think your insurers etc may be lying to you ........... . wouldn't trust insurers one jot Uberrimae Fidei ......... is probably a thing of the past I'm afraid Malc
  25. get Aviva to use Lexus to supply and fit the windscreen then ? Malc
