Halcyon days .............. doubt the police in the UK would have the spare time these days to dedicate to attending very many car incidents tbh We have to just rely on the way it now is with claims handling and I for one have, somewhat reluctantly, stayed with Saga this time around BUT ONLY BECAUSE the kerfuffle it takes to change insurers is quite extraordinarily immense ...... you just try it, the detailed stuff you have to go thru' and produce .... like being questioned when joining MI5 possibly 😉 AND sadly I just didn't have all that spare time right then to devote to that exercise with stuff going on in my business that required my 120% attention Malc

Germany and Italy blocks ICEV bans for 2035

is this another of those Conspiracy Theories surmising that I'm NOT normal......... . jeez, wot's the world coming to ! 🤩 Malc -
Bill . for what it's worth . P&O Ferries is NOT the same business as P&O Cruises . Ferries is owned by DP World the Emirates guy who sacked 800 crew maybe a year or so back P&O Cruises has a very strong link trading with TUI that is more or less German Govt owned / controlled and is both ABTA and ATOL If you really can't get anywhere with P&O then i would say " go for " TUI and / or issue some sort of writ on the German owners . wake 'em up a little ( if you dare ) BUT ABTA and ATOL are your first port of call and if you manage to awaken them from their slumbers then, well, well done ............ you might get somewhere in the end but it's probably a long long wait . Most passengers really do just chuck in the towel and abandon hope .... they seem totally immune from bad press coverage and don't care a sh..it about let down pax Good luck with it all, just don't stress ....... and expect zero .... and hope for a little better Good luck Malc

ne'er a penny nor a euro saved at all . the potholes are still creating work for the otherwise whom would be unemployed ...... today even I saw and was caught up in a 4 way directional pothole repair scenario with at least 150 vehicles totally snarled up on the main 2 drags with about 4 in total on the remaining 2 ways involved . and we all had to wait about 5 mins at each 4 way letting-out for the 20 seconds allowing about 5 vehicles to get thru' It's called maybe traffic calming and /or driver irating syndrome . and it works .. one excellent outcome from Brexit eh ! Passive Traffic Calming Malc -
shed the worry, there's no point . it will be what it will be . keep at it but simply move on . if you recover monies then great but if not, well, you've had some entertainment value from the postings on here .... as you know, I own and operate a mildly successful on-line travel business AND I for one wouldn't dream of putting myself thru' all this likely post covid anxiety and wasted times getting to and fro and being at the sodding airport 3 hours before the flight stuff ..... the flights are ok tho', provided it takes off ........... Book a ferry crossing ( we do those too of course ) and take your car . you're in control . Ireland's nice and English speaking and easy to cope with . and beautiful countryside to explore too 😇 Malc

Thinking aloud here ...... could it be the way you drive that causes some of these issues ? I've never had brake problems on any of my cars over the decades ... even decades and hundreds of thousands of miles of Ls400 driving 🤫 Malc -
Germany and Italy blocks ICEV bans for 2035
Malc1 replied to Linas.P's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
it's a ploy to reduce speed ........... Speed Awareness Courses .. create pothole courses . ........ furthering the cause of speed reduction programmes without costing a penny . nor a euro .. we don't need to be a member of the EU for that . Brexit is fine for me and I'm not an inward migrant and neither do i wish to be going outwards towards the " finer " things in Europe . are there many ?? . well fine escargot and frogs legs maybe but not to my delicate taste buds methinks 🤫 I'm ok with bangers and mash, pie 'n mash, toad in de 'ole ..... Ole' ! Malc hehehehehe ... -
Germany and Italy blocks ICEV bans for 2035
Malc1 replied to Linas.P's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
and when we were in this European region I'm thinking we had good use of spare funds to fix our UK roads ???? ... hahahahahahahaha .......... never in a million years methinks . there never seemed any spare money for UK roads coming from EU funds to my awareness 🤔 Not enough money for roads eh, no surprises there then BUT I'm thinking we'd rather now have those funds in the NHS and other " more worthy " causes perhaps ! something one cannot blame Brexit for then ! 🤣 Malc -

Germany and Italy blocks ICEV bans for 2035
Malc1 replied to Linas.P's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
what's going on is buckets and buckets of EU cash dumped into Eire for sure, the roads are just so IMMACULATE ............. unlike us poor relations in the UK who have, in the past, had to fork out to achieve for Eire that which it now so admirably enjoys ........ well done Eire ........... . wonder what the roads will be like in 25 years time without the UK contribution with all that extra money ( not !!! ) being spent on our UK roads and pothole remedy eh ! Malc pop this one in the Conspiracy Theory post if you wish 🤣 -
LS500 Not As Senior Citizen-Friendly As I Thought ...
Malc1 replied to Rabbers's topic in Lexus General Discussions
I cannot seem to open this Renato ........... maybe buy yourself a more User Friendly limo instead ................ a fine Ls400 ! 🤩 Malc -
seriously tho' everyone ............ . running these older brilliant simple technology limousines, our Ls400s ...... V8 4 ltr comfy, reliable and surprisingly petrol economic too ........ are a wonderful blessing why on earth all these other people are chasing for summat technically so advanced that it's going to cause immense headaches at some stage . and huge reductions in one's personal wealth ...... baffles me I'm old fashioned ........... and as someone mentioned on the Roy of the Rovers Requiem ......... in our Twilight years ........ does it really take Age to develop Wisdom with cars 😇 OR just a lack of ambition to grow old gracefully and simply rather than chasing around trying to become a Boy Racer .... isn't the Ls400 quick witted and fast enuf ? Malc 🤩

aha, but not quite ....... headlamp bulb out today, main beam works fine but not the ordinary beam . and this is a bulb we changed a year or so back ... remember bought from Halfords and paid them to have it changed too . maybe £15 all-up . anyone remember my thoughts here at that time ? Anyway, a seriously good thump and wizzooooo, she's back on ok BUT I did find the complimentary second bulb that came in the Halfords pack just in case ........ .......... not quite the self-healing we sometimes see with the older Ls400 ........ maybe the thump re-lodged the filament or summat . let's wait and see how she goes eh ! What's the problem with electric vehicles
Malc1 replied to Mr Vlad's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
which from the " other " posts on here many of the EU ( and UK ? ) Govts have now unwound that ban in 2035 ....... well, until the next time ! Don't worry, one will still be able to recharge one's EV somewhere ......... probably the same place one can get LPG and the new Hydrogen Power fill-up Malc -
hey one and All .......... I'm thinking the new replacement steel washer my indy replaced for free has bedded in and all the rakes, in-out, up-down .......now seem to work a treat ....... Fingers Xd for continuation of this really expensive . laughing here, FREE FIX .... a steel washer and the video provided, together with the 8 click dance suggestion .... blessed V8 4 ltr limo eh ! 🥰 Malc

my dead and safely removed and unnecessary heatshield on the Ls400 was like a battle tank piece of steel by comparison Malc

Boot Seal
Malc1 replied to shanra's topic in LS 400 / Lexus LS 430 / Lexus LS 460 / Lexus 600h / Lexus 500h Club
could this be a potential solution ? Malc -
woops I meant 245k miles 🙃 ......... they just vanish after 12 years owning this amazing V8 4ltr limo Malc
-
a trusted indy will be the way to go once the Relax warranty and other benefits vanish BUT get them to check the calipers, that's NEVER included or specified in a service It will save you a small fortune provided you can find a worthy indy My last indy FULL service ( oil and filter, air filter checking and adjusting all else and the calipers ( specifically asked to be checked ) at my indy to include MOT ...... and now at 225k miles, was £210 all-up ........... doubt the 8 x plugs would add much more than £150 but they aren't due until @ 260k miles maybe 3/4 years hence Malc

Aw c'mon now guys . these cruise operators are run by the accountants now and any thoughts of Loyalty or Customer Care just vanished Son-in-law's parents on a recent 2 week TUI fly cruise to Jamaica and around the delightful Caribbean ...... note under the cabin door the start of the 2nd week cruise saying " CRUISE CANCELLED " Flew home next day to UK and £300 credit towards a next booking and some compensation ....... all that sodding around to and fro Heathrow etc, wot a bummer eh ! Reason . couldn't get the food on board . you may laugh . fact is 900 passengers in a 918 cabin ship . why would the accountants let it continue at a loss one asks Sign of things to come Don't hold your breath for any changes soon . these operators have a lot lot of catching up to do to get their balance sheets right after covid The German Govt owns most of TUI and Sept 22 Balance Sheet shows the German Govt had to dump half a billion ££££ or is it euros, into the business to keep it " afloat " . and after having taken out / sidelined a Russian oligarch they discovered secretly owned 30% of TUI tooooo NOW many cruise companies are a part of the TUI empire now . so take care eh ! Check up before you book any cruises to see who actually owns / runs the business, shipping line you're trusting with your money and more importantly TIME Fred Olsen and Ambassador are independent and MSC ( sadly with huge ships tho' ) are Italian and have been around in shipping since the days of Pirates, the 1600's I understand Best go by car and drive your Lexus wheresoever you can eh !
