  1. not in the slightest . nor more reliable, nor as quick and fast either ......... after all, I cannot drive at more than 30mph in most places, down to 20mph in many and neither greater than 70mph on the motorways .......... so I'll just tuck the odd £30/50/80/100/120k into my back pocket for that rainy day ............ do cars really cost that much these days . cor blimey .... wot a mountain to climb for those unfortunate enough not to own a Ls400 😇 Malc
  2. Brave man, well done ......... just goes to show the 100k mile / 10 year programme to replace the radiator should have been adhered to by a prior owner to have probably avoided the issue Well done Malc
  3. damn . another opportunity lost for me to make my fortune then ........ will I ever be able to afford to trade-up to a newer Lexus 🤣 Malc
  4. maybe with later age cars for sure . I used to buy them and they lasted about 3 years 40k miles or so, THEN one time they only lasted a year . methinks the older stock was perishing / becoming less pliable etc, in it's packaging on the shelf ! Malc
  5. lots more " big brother " watching one's every move to ensure one pays whatever and wherever you happen to be who pays for the CCTV etc installation and maintenance ? Can i please be the Main Contractor in your State please ....... hahahahahahaha Malc
  6. I don't know if this is the same business as from many many months back .............. on the Ls600 section ??? ............. where a company does actually repair these inverters at a sensible cost .... maybe ! Good luck tracking it all down and succeeding with a sensible repair or replacement Malc
  7. might this be something a professional and competent AutoElectrician could sort out seamlessly ? Malc
  8. finding a competent and useful Proper AutoElectrics person is very very challenging . I had this problem a while ago locally and each i approached , by phone tho'. was just PATHETIC ............. then the issues vanished . as they can so do on our Ls400s ............... thankfully Best wishes with your problem Malc
  9. or simply to buy a new car with all the " bells and whistles " in place and working . as in olden times Malc
  10. local CCTV etc to identify the buggers . and then chop their fingers off, or at least cut their fingernails a little closer than normal Glass is often a non-affecting on the NCB but recorded against one with the insurer and they should pay out if you have Fully Comprehensive cover ............. and Pilkingtons will make you one but at a silly maybe one-off price . if you find one secondhand then that will be a great bonus ....... might pay to to buy a comparative wreck of Ls430 just to salvage the rear screen ...... if you had some way to dispose of the remains .... The one above at £220 looks a steal if it fits ok I'm thinking a one-off from the classic and other car glass window manufacturer .......... Pilkingtons could be about £4k Good luck Malc
  11. Colin, I think it's the Rear Screen that's challenging to find 🙃 Malc
  12. Might be interesting to understand the comparatives with the available warranty in the USA . and if we in the UK should be expecting a better deal with Lexus ?? Malc
  13. I did it today and WOW . all bits that need spray lube/white grease stuff are done including the battery terminals ...... I'm so impressed Malc
  14. about what i normally paid in the past with my local chap, well, not so local now from whence i moved home many years back Always added a few hours return trip and fuel ...... so I'm actually now saving about 50 ltrs of fuel and the travelling time over two days too Malc
  15. Chesire's tooooo far from Kent and anyway . you'd probably deflect a Cruise missile with that quality bodywork ✌️ Malc
  16. wot a stunning steed eh ! curb, kerb , curved or kerbed ........ wouldn't worry me if that function threw a curved one or not tbh she looks a lovely car Malc
  17. and there we are . our old and ancient steeds . well, mine anyway, has in-built from new and quite useable ...... heated seats and functioning Cruise Control . now, where's the Cruise missile to take out the odd Merc nearby 😆 Malc
  18. not opened the bonnet yet . a job for tomorrow, opening the bonnet that is 🙃 Malc
  19. and when you're up to it . and feeling a little energised ... think about going for non-strenuous swimming .... it might rejuvenate you a little too, give you a little more strength maybe Best wishes Malc
  20. nah, just a subscription to keep the car on the road and free of breakdowns maybe would be a great benefit for those Merc owners to have 🤑 Malc
  21. just chill Herbs, plenty of rest and sleep and time will be a big healer where the energy levels are concerned Malc
  22. and for the first time ever with a service ( or ever full-stop ) he also greased-up the door hinges . ( a white type of grease, probably duck fat in time for Xmas 😃 ) seriously tho', would this ever be on a normal servicing schedule ? just like caliper checking isn't ! Malc
