  1. Luke hi ......... many members here, including me, have happily used Amayama for supplies . others Rockauto and also LexusPartsDirect too .. where one doesn't wish to buy from Lexus nor Toyota Main Dealers It might be that the noise your hearing doesn't necessitate replacement .... others might be able to advise maybe ! Good luck Malc oh, I've not personally had brilliant experiences of BluePrint for this sort of serious stuff
  2. Daniel, might you be able to take her out for a blast up hill and down dale and Motorway and all in between . before you commit to a purchase ... It's amazing what a simple " blow out " could dislodge and remedy to give effect to a brilliantly performing car Again remembering two older cars I had bought on my garage forecourt . a sluggishly turgid BMW 3 series and a Volvo estate .. a good blast up a local hill changed them from laggardly decrepit no hopers to wonderful brilliant performers. ....... as I was hoping A good blast-out can redeem lots of problems Malc
  3. it's simply ageism and sexism 😉 Malc
  4. really all as above .... mine Ls400 only covered about 4k miles a year during all this covid lockdown stuff BUT those small annual miles i considered kept everything working and in fine fettle . I hoped . and provided she's done a couple of 000's a year over a regular monthly basis then i would consider that to be probably ok going forward ....... Can you reveal the regn no. to us etc ? price whatever ? that's going to be the crux of the predicament you're in Remembering, if it's any comfort to you, I bought my ( M470HWO ) Dec 1994, and 2nd Ls400 from a garage in Windsor back in 2007 with only 3827 miles with a Full Lexus service record and even a cambelt change . 'twas amazing tbh .......... from brand new AND she was like a brand new car too ........... never had a single moments trouble with her . oh, until a write-off 4 years later .. sadly in 2011 Malc
  5. Then it surely was for a Govt person or other, OR for a Trades Union Supremo in fear of being bumped off for banning people getting to their Events in life 🥵 Malc
  6. I found the local Main Dealer at Toyota the most competitive and best value for my ( Ls400 ) replacement Yuasa battery recently .... give them a go I would say and you get a free coffee whilst being fitted .............. a 5 min job with the correct battery always in stock Malc
  7. Gary hi, do you have inside and more outside piccys to show please ? and some useful maintenance history etc Thanks Malc
  8. and the likely purpose of the two screwdrivers is ............... ??? Malc
  9. but this is 6 months old now . is there an up2date position do you think ? Malc
  10. you're a whole year older maybe ! Malc
  11. several wonderful and amazing magical tours around Scotland AND even a cruise around the Isles etc with Fred Olsen it might have been some years back Well, all I can say is that there must surely be an indy that's capable of doing this quite straightforward work on your Ls ........ maybe go check-out where the local used car sales guys get their work done .. that might be an option ! .......... that's all I used when i had my car sales business many moons back . for whatever marque we had work done . my first Lexus, BMWs Bentleys and even a RR But I still don't fathom why they're quoting for 2 goddam radiators ! . if that's an error on the Quote then god help the customer getting the work done there ! Malc
  12. like we see traveling the highways and byways of Delhi with the whole family, of at least 5 or 6, aboard 😃 Now this Allard . wot's the next step ? Malc
  13. I just had a simple Carlton 1.8 saloon as my bank manager's car back in the '80s . brilliant family saloon, travelled over some of Europe in her with the kids and she finally died, after i gave her away to another car mechanic guy when I'd covered just over 200k miles in her . brilliant car for sure Bank Managers in those days just had simple cars . doubt they have cars anymore as a perk, indeed, are there any bank managers left anywhere ........... ??? btw I did some 60 miles on bank business in that car in the 60,000 miles i did in those first 3 years before I was made redundant and kept the car as part pay-off She was a joy to drive for sure ✌️ Malc sorry i digress from the Allard issue . value maybe £2k as a " fun " car . the bottom end value for a cheapy Ls400 of that age still on the road with lots of upcoming probably expensive issues to sort for MOTs etc Malc
  14. most other drivers just think we're Old Aged plodders out for a Sunday afternoon poodle down the country lanes and then, when we get on a main highway just don't know how to possibly keep up with modern day cars ..... any really ........ coz our slumbering saloons are a quarter of a century old . and they have no idea it's a 4 ltr V8 chugging along ......... at 142mph ...... hehehehehe Malc
  15. are you likely to join MI5 or 6 and need to continue with those secret comms stuff 😆 Malc
  16. but they're charging £120 plus VAT an hour labour and you're buying TWO radiators . on that Estimate . what's that all about then ! Isn't there a local garage that will charge you a more sensible 50% of that extortionate labour charge ? will your new-found indy be more realistic do you think ? AND give you a free cuppa if you have to wait around to chat about things 😉 Malc
  17. something metal in the centre console arm rest maybe ....... this sometimes affects the Ls400 alarm Malc
  18. another thought . bearing in mind I don't really know which part you're referring too ........ I'm assuming it's not an orange lens but a seating for a lens to rest in-to ...... take off the other side and have one 3D printed maybe Malc
  19. is it me or my car ...... I get this urge, when the road cameras don't deter me, to floor the Old Lady .............. and it scares me a little that the turn of speed is soooooo exhilerating AND probably does the Old Gal a power of good too Jeez, who knows what speed she's doing, I dare'snt take my eyes off the road and concentration to look down at the speedo ............... it's a brilliant feeling though 😇 Do others with this V8 wolf in sheep's clothing get the urge too ? 🤩 Malc
  20. you really mean " different standards " ............... perhaps, if you're an AA or RAC Member you could seek the views of their legal teams 🤫 Malc
  21. Japanese equivalent maybe 😉 Was very very interesting to read all the Allard stuff that's referenced in the 2012 posts for sure ...... but in limp mode it's really quite valueless and/or priceless whatever 😁 well apart from it's weigh in value I guess Malc
  22. Gary hi, I see these posts go back to 2012 . yep a weirdo car for sure and maybe your's is the sole survivor now AND absolutely priceless 🤣 Malc
  23. David.. my very first Ls400 J54DAP many many years back, I just used my local reputable garage workplace that I had used in my car sales business ..... to do the cambelt, waterpump etc change They had never done one before BUT I had the confidence in them to do the job thoroughly and well .... and of course they did ......... it's not " rocket science " and a competent mechanic should be able to do the job ok Good luck however finding your local people Malc
  24. Gang, you're simply purposefully ignoring the BP production in the north of England to roll out availability of hydrogen to each of it's 1200+ estate as a minimum .... Malc
  25. isn't RR Motors and Bentley Motors owned respectively by BMW and VW ? or vice versa ! Malc
