Hey everyone ... can you confirm that where the dash warning lights appear on a pre April 2012 car that it is NOT a MOT Fail ??
Clearly the car has to be roadworthy and everything working as it should to pass the MOT BUT simple dash light malfunction itself is NOT a MOT fail ? or is it ?
Thanks for your guidance

John, weird, I see they treated this as an MOT Advisory when you changed over to your private plate ? ........ thought that was quite acceptable tbh ............ I know when I bought my last Ls400 car I did the self same over the original number plate which regn. was sold by the dealer for mega mega bucks to . you know who .... it was BCA3 😉

Advisory notice item(s)
Front and rear registration plates fitted on top of originals
well, if the radiator changeover is going to be prior to the onset of next winter then I would think maybe a simple top-up with distilled water might be ok . you're not going to worry about it's deep cold / freeze preventative measures ........unless the changeover isn't really on that short horizon 🙃

but this is a 1991 car with very limited technology computerwise compared to even your ancient steed George 😉 . sorry I jest ................. Ajax has gone to sleep methinks !

oh my, the death wobble , earthquake like . and a lawsuit . even if you're dead . followed by a lawsuit . ah, ok, it's in the USA and anyway . it's a left-hooker so maybe not relevant to the Highway to Hell ..... in Blaenau / Gwent 🥶

methinks every 10 years or 100k miles is somewhat negligible imho 😇 . and all that expensive suspension stuff about every 150k miles too
let's just wait to see what a 10 y/o / 100k miles EV looks like for maintenance costs at that time ....... if I'm still around to find out 🤣

Can anyone confirm ?
I'm reading that cars pre April 2012 are NOT failable at the MOT with dash lights malfunctioning //////// OBVIOUSLY you have to ensure the car is safe and everything works as it should BUT a simple dash light, Xmas Tree light syndrome won't fail her the MOT
Am i reading this correctly ?

If it just happens on this specific stretch of road then there are TWO options
1. avoid that road and
2. put up with it until you're past that stretch of road
.................. both very inexpensive options to my mind and then you won't have to trouble that tyre place again and keep your £££££ in YOUR own pocket 😉

For negligible maintenance then you want to revert to the old fashioned and non-hypersensitive V8 of the Ls400 surely and big old Toyota 4 wd and All wd 😉 . like they might in the rest of the " real world " outside of us cocooned in the EU and USofA . and the UK of course 😇

hahahahahhahahah ............ Reality Gives methinks !
great hype tho' for the hypertension methodology .. reminding me of the Ruskie Hypersupersonic indestructible mach 10 ? missile that's invincible ......... BUT one's just been shot down by Zelensky and co OK .......... 🖕
as I say reality " Gives " ..... let's stick with Toyota's Mirai style relatively simple and straightforward and readily achievable sensible cars for the masses ............. well maybe me anyway if i live that long 🤣 ............. and I can rebadge the " sedan " to a Lexus Ls700

perhaps a sad but simple disadvantage of the silence of the EV
We we're in Bremen a few years back, in the town centre visiting from a cruise ship ..... and a Gang of ducks trotting around totally oblivious to the non-sound of a huge BMW EV that simply CRUSHED one or two of their party to death
Oh the blessed silence of the EV eh ! ( crushing a Gang too 🥶 )

maybe cars pre 2012 aren't that required ?? check that out with the MOT guys . maybe 2006, not sure ! Your 2004 car should be ok for MOT with dash lights lit methinks
BUT of course be sure that everything works ok and it's just silly lights malfunction
and what was said about this might be what happened to mine to take away the Xmas Tree syndrome too

it's not uncommon to just allow the sensor pads themselves to fall away .... on the Ls400 they are renowned with age it seems to do that and provided you are a sensible owner and have the car properly serviced by a trusted indy, then he/she will always check the pads/discs for wear and replace as appropriate ........physically and actually doing the job of the sensors themselves and I do remember the sensors were often stupidly over sensitive and told a tale long before needed .... and I mean several 000's of miles prior I think all my sensors went aeons ago and I rely on sensibilities and excellent servicing as above
I've never come unstuck with that and seemingly saved £1200 + labour in the process 😉
