that's what's set me off really, thinking about a Lexus convertible .. but being utterly sensible now with two of my neighbours having Bentleys and parked roadside, along with their other cars ,,,,, seems daft to clutter up the parking lot . the road ..... with another rarely to be used " I want one " car Ho hum, the Ls400 it will be, well, at least for the time being . I suspect forever maybe ! and how on earth can two people in a household justify 3 cars Malc

wow, what's the registration etc please . so that we can check the MOTs etc Thanks Malc -
If i did get myself another it would need to be a proper convertible tbh I have the brilliant and well proven Mk3 Ls400 that does me for everyday runaround and trips just about everywhere . and a sensible 4/5 seater . with back seats that's hardly ever been used . and that cavernous boot too my Honda Legend is ULEZ free and I don't need to concern myself over that when visiting friends and family in what's going to be the extended London ULEZ boundaries come end August AND of course, for the future, I can just whisper that I'm awaiting my Hydrogen power Toyota Crown whatever to rebadge as my personalised Ls700 ....... My summertime aberration maybe 😄 2 x Sc430s with issues …… that I’ve never experienced with my Ls400s ……. advises me it should be a “ non “ AND there’s heaps of Sc430s for sale too ……. That tells me something tbh And so so few Ls400s …… and the back seats rarely get used The Mazda thingy should make me think coz we also had a BRILLIANT Mazda 323f for many happy reliable 150k miles of years …….. rust in huge quantities killed it I’m afraid my thoughts on Vauxhall Cascada are now zero …… it’s a modern Vauxhall and the mechanical write-ups are challenging too BUT it’s an extremely attractive car in looks alone …….. much better in real life than piccys ….. a rare car to find, they sold very few ……… but 10 x more than my 2006 Honda Legend that really is quite a remarkably fine car So there we are ….. my summer Sunday afternoon loopy moment scotched …… thankfully ……. everyone Malc

I'm posting this on my usual Ls400 forum too ............ of course Saw the most amazing Vauxhall Cascada yesterday in a shopping mall car park . wow it looked a stunning car . but on-line investigations show that even the best, the 2.0D Elite ain't really up-to-much BUT it does look a stunning car and with big rear 2 seats too ....... I'm a little tempted ......... barmy I suspect NOW, if I was to go for a convertible I'm supposing it should really be a sensibly turned-out, well serviced and nice looking Sc430 ......... bearing in mind I've forever been driving a Ls400, well for 20+ years at least ... and she wouldn't be pensioned off at all either Any useful specific thoughts here everyone ? ........... apart from seeing my shrink / psychiatrist ! my speedo has indeed again been misbehaving from time to time BUT yet again I suddenly see it's working fine ........... it's in and out and up and down like a yoyo . at least the Rev Counter behaves fine these days ... I really can't fathom the speedo tho . whatever the weather and temperature etc she misbehaves from time to time . and I still give the dash above a gentle'ish tap when she's stuck still .... 'twas all fine yesterday so I'll be leaving well alone methinks 😇 ...... and nigh on 246k miles now too 🤩 Malc

that's a brilliant good outcome from Brexit then ✌️ Malc

YET . and it possibly won't now BUT i did read a year or so back that my simple ancient Ls400 is actually banned in Paris Oh, and a fair few of our guys died in France and on the Normandy beaches trying to protect France ...... believe it or not .. ........and my now departed dad actually had a bullet thru' his helmet on those goddam beaches . but it missed going into him thankfully Malc

ok, so " it's simply the best " to get one before leaving our hallowed shores for those dastardly foreign fields that our guys died on to give then their freedom ............ albeit a while back now . " lest we forget " Malc

This is quite disconcerting for me, as a now infrequent car driver across europe ...... last was pre covid times NOW ........... does one need one of these " stickers " as a matter of course to avoid falling foul of unintended and non-planned for entry to prohibited areas ? does it only apply to cars with UK ULEZ type emission benefits OR does it apply to cars even as old as my dear old banger maybe ? . that is definitely penalised for not being ULEZ compliant Thanks Malc

might you have the service records showing when these were last replaced ? That might reveal if they really do need sorting before the next MOT between now and the mileage you're likely to cover, to the next MOT . just a thought ! When mine went on my Ls400 all those years back, the first front nearside copped it at @145k miles and the rest, the other 3 at @ 200k miles Yours must surely have already been replaced ? and I'm assuming with Main Dealer Lexus parts too knowing the history of your great looking steed Malc

Linas, i do understand your thoughts on all this BUT should the UK Govt employ some sensible and realistic Advisors, such as Ove Arup, or even independently someone like Kerry Mashford ..... ... for whom I have huge regard with environmental and green issues, having helped me develop my then business and personally my erstwhile Green Roof sedum business thru' Ove Arup ..... back in the day when all that was going to be worthwhile ...... some 17 years back . how time fly's eh ! .......... and economics capsize even the very best laid plans ...... ....... then the UK might make some useful headway in realistic " Green Power Build " issues . including of course both Tidal Power and even maybe .. Hydrogen Power for the masses 😇 Malc

Global warming, super untenable heat in places that don’t usually see these levels ……. Even my office in Delhi last year were just about coping with excess and excessive, almost unprecedented temps at the peak of 50+ c Working in that must have been a little challenging ….never heard them complain before Luckily the aircon works well, just whingeing about the electricity bills eh ! 🥵 I don’t know how all this will pan out ……. even this Ukraine dam being blown will cause some ecological disaster I’m sure ……. But might actually just refocus how that land mass can be better used to produce changing crops …… maybe even inland fish farms ….. who knows …… there’s going to be good opportunity resulting from what now appears a disaster I’m sure Hydrogen fuel for transport and cars will be with us sooner than we can really imagine The car engine makers and the hydrogen fuel makers are behemoths much greater in competence and wherewithal than Govts worldwide AND as you say, they’re only doing it for profitable trading for the shareholders and to pay taxation ….. of course My hydro power Ls700 might be with me sooner than one could imagine even 6 months ago 😄

David, how much was it again ??? AND the bodywork looks absolutely GREAT nay STUNNING, a credit to it's prior owner over 333k miles for sure Will be a pleasure to see her, oh and you of course 😅 ....... when our ship docks at Scrabster that day in July I'm buying 24/7 wifi on board so I can check in here ok ..... . and as an aside, I'll be needing it for my business even whilst on holiday 😇 Malc

I must say I do find it rather odd that with our enormous coastline and tides that the boffins AND govt haven't found a sensible, economic and good way forward with harnessing Tidal Power .BUT that won't in itself provide vehicle fuel of course . coz all that energy would presumably be used for domestic consumption .. homes. factories and ........ finally those EVs Let's se how the BP H2 production comes along in the North of England . I just feel that will be a " game changer " with vehicle propulsion coming forward in some great measure and in a timely way too Malc
