  1. Oliver hi and welcome to LOC Can you tell us more about your prior Ls430 experiences please ...... so members here can avoid them/him and the car in question please ..... Regn no. whatever would be useful Thanks and welcome Malc
  2. My RAC Full Cover for everything costs a whopping great big ZERO £££££ I have used it this year for a flat tyre change . an actual sodding nail in it ....... and it's ZERO, well, it went that way when they realised I had paid my dues for 50 years, I guess when I was maybe 71 , the year I bought the then Life Membership but that only covered the bare basic stuff at that time . I had paid for the excessive Full Breakdown Cover stuff from maybe 40 years back, the late 80's when I used to take the kids to France for holidays whatever Yep, I think the RAC is absolutely ACE . nay BRILLIANT ..... renewals at ZERO ££££ float my boat ok 🤩 Malc
  3. ‘‘Twas totally 50000% ABYSMAL and AWFUL …… to me …….. NEVER EVER would I wish the dreadful experience on anyone’s shoulders Malc
  4. I would NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER use these people again after my damningly dreadful experience with their set-up .......... BUYER BEWARE Malc
  5. ... because, sadly, the strongest likelihood is ... that he's NOT! simply from the perspective of me, an erstwhile car dealer and Trader ........... many years past ...... I found it often challenging to understand why somebody would want to p/ex their quite good car for one even better from my forecourt Reality was often that the car from the Client had some issues that they were often just trying to hide , to hoodwink me, the car Sales Professional ....... this rarely worked and we ended having an ok deal .. NOW, when the Client p/ex car was a heap of turd, as happens, then it goes straight into the auction ........ so buy there at your peril I would say All other cars we sometimes just traded out . to another dealer / trader, and others we just serviced, sorted out the niggles, fresh MOT and on-sold to another Client, maybe another p/ex again, the merry merry go-round continues BUT we always had to make a sensible profit on each and every deal ........... it's called business Car Dealers these days just have to sell " proper " cars otherwise Trading Standards and all else comes down like a ton of bricks It's never " buyer beware " with car sales from a Dealer .. it's not allowed by Law Malc
  6. my Honda Legend 2006 has had the orange MIL lights on for some years . they tell me it's a silly vestigial sensor in the gearbox that doesn't prevent the car driving wonderfully well and safe all the time ........... and thus far it passes the MOT ok . the lights are off for that moment in time the Tester does his stuff ! I don't want to have ( to pay for ) the gearbox taken to pieces for the sake of a vestigial underperformance of a trifling non-essential issue I think you need to KNOW what's causing the issue to understand if it's detrimental to you and the car's performance and safety .... then go from there Malc
  7. Insurers and some brokers are simply SCANDALOUS Malc
  8. I tend to do the same BUT restrict it just maybe 2 hrs of my time traipsing around any likely new hosts ....... only seemingly these days ( years ) returning to base insurer .. often Saga these recent years BUT after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing to beat them up on their silly prices ........... I seem to have better and more productive things to do with my time i feel ..... BUT I just hate being ripped off 🤣 Malc
  9. don't just worry about Scotland and their interpretation of all this stuff Reading authoritative tomes about driving across Europe . well, the 350+ differing City rules and regs about the NECESSARY PASSES to buy and display for assorted areas and cities abound with ENFORCEMENT quite regular and penal to the likelihood of Brits driving abroad getting it wrong anywhere could result in a slapping great fine of £1500 a time Mine doesn't ever get any ULEZ type pass or credit, nor ever will BUT all other cars driving without the NECESSARY PERMITS will simply get a likely fine I'm never taking my car to Europe again, as i have very many times past, pre covid, for huge month long wonderful holidaying drives ...... and even with my 2006 ULEZ ok Honda Legend . I would still probably fall foul of some Fine Toting Policeman in France, Italy, Spain wherever ... So Ireland it is again hopefully ..... the leprechuans will look after me I'm sure 🤩 Oh, lest we forget that certain cities in the UK now have such similar ULEZ rules to Herr Khan's and especially YORK City where, whatever your status, you simply HAVE to pay a daily £3 charge . is it £3 ??? Malc
  10. Saga wrote to advise me lots of drivel about how they are no longer allowed to reward loyalty ..... by the new Law .. out to protect the consumer . of course I never can understand insurance premiums and the tripe these insurers expect us to swallow Malc
  11. how do they get to a dopey price of £18,813 for heavens sake 🤑 Malc
  12. methinks they might just go the way of the Old and Ancient Cornish Tin Mines .............. at that time blots on the landscape BUT now possibly things of " beauty " Malc
  13. I had mine replaced / totally fabricated by a local exhaust specialist place in Bower Lane Maidstone Kent about 30 mins from me " recently " £300+ vat ....... the new OEM from Lexus , now totally unavailable, last I read on here was about £700 Not sure you'll ever find a 2nd hand one for your Mk3 ........ is it ? Malc
  14. owning a used car garage for some years in times past it was an absolute boon to have our self-employed elderly gent tasked to clean and polish the forecourt stock .......... he usually made a really good job of it ... twixt cuppas and bikkies and chats to keep him going ..... s'pose with that happening i could never really get into the way of happily spending my own time washing a car . mine included .... nor to this day either really ...... especially with the seagulls ALWAYS doing a better job of splashing her more than any bucket of fresh water could keep pace with BUT I do admire those with the will and the wish to scrub and polish away ............. 😉 Malc
  15. mine's going to be parked up at Tilbury Port come this Friday for 12 days ..... . hope she enjoys the sea breezes and air .......... much like she does now at my Town Quay tho' ✌️ whilst we're off cruising to that jolly summer cold in Iceland ,,,, not the shop eh ! Malc
  16. TAKES ME longer than 6.9 secs to get outta bed these days . 0 - 60 ........ stairs would take me maybe 30 mins too 😇 I marvel at the turn of speed my dear old Mk3 Ls400 can achieve .... sure beats hands down most cars I see on the roads these days . in normalish driving conditions Malc
  17. Trouble for us seasoned Ls400 owners is that we really enjoy using our cars ………. these rare pristine examples are really great to find BUT I’d be a little fearsome to use one as my usual everyday driver …… go anywhere, anytime etc Theyre to be kept in aspic pristine nick methinks 😂 I’d worry that the underuse was going to cause me problems on-going ……. therefore I’d really only want another with warts and all those old age dings and dents that enable me to happily use the car for all and everyday purposes …… without getting steamed up and a gibbering wreck …… well, anymore than I am already Another Ls400 Mk3 would do me fine please 🙏 Malc
  18. Blimey, just that 8 months then . well done to you and your persistence and resolve .......... many just " give up " well done Malc
  19. wonder why ? issues with it maybe ? be good to understand the story behind this tbh Malc
  20. ............. for decades now I've been under the impression it was 6.9 seconds ? Well done whatever Malc
  21. how long did it all take timewise ? . stresswise is probably incalculable tho' Malc
  22. ‘‘Twas this last Saturday night Sunday morning sometime 🥵 Malc
  23. ...... and then some bugger comes along overnight and try's to park on my rear bumper corner in his white car ...... well that's the copious amount of car white paint left behind by that bugger .... whatever you do to your car one's at the mercy of the gods and those errant couldn't care less hidden motorists that don't care a hoot about others possessions and leave the scene of an avoidable accident under cover of ....... " not seen so it's OK to scarper " syndrome Washing ain't getting it right, nor copious amounts of polishing either .... aarrrggghhh ! Malc
