and ................... NCB / NCD can be a max of 9 years or 16 years to reflect when and with whom one transfers .......... and if you've earnt that on any policy and your taking out anew with a different insurer then they will ( often ) reflect what you have already earnt elsewhere, such benefaction to make you feel good ! ............... they simply make it all up as they go along I'm sure Might be the attitude of the caller ( you ) when you make that call and of course, if the insurance sales agent had a good night and feeling on happy top Form it's a lottery which one rarely wins eh ! Malc -
Enjoy your time here Larry ….. the people on here are very informative with a wealth of knowledge Malc

fully compliant by 2050 no doubt with a heat pump attached and well, I guess by then we'll maybe all be travelling in a Fully Compliant hearse whatever to our final destinations .... doubtless there'll be even stricter burning emission controls / burial limits on graves if appropriate ............ and all that sodding nonsense too 😅 ......... and heaven forfend anyone has to ever step outside the car to do an essential Peeeeee 🤩 Am I joking do you think ? Stan sadly, or thankfully, I can offer zero input here I have never in all my Ls400s had this problem and my cars are ever only parked flattish ........ thinking, could it be specific to the Mk4 I wonder ! that might narrow it down a tad Malc -
when and if you do get around to doing them with poly stuff then do keep us posted ..... it might be an option whenever mine .... and others ..... bushings need refreshing If your local mechanic is also the MOT guy then I would go with his view rather than the Main Dealer that maybe just wants lots of your spare ££££ Malc

so what's the price of fuel in France these days ? Malc
-
good luck . it's rare to find a Ls400 owner here these days let alone a DHP owner Malc
-
and another tiny conundrum ……. my additional “ new to me “ 1991 Ls400 is of course over 30 years young and I think somewhere I was reading with all this Clean Air Sticker that Europe wide this age becomes a Classic Car and free of emissions controls BUT still needs the EU Sticker ? ….. like in the UK with 40 year old classics being automatically ULEZ Exempt …… is that so ??? Your thoughts please Malc

Then of course the known reality that Brazil holds the majority of the world potential oil yet to be extracted, from its ownership of the seas within its jurisdictions …… the Brazil Govt is possibly merely awaiting the pricing algorithm to get correct to then flood the world with all that black stuff ….. and keep the price sensibly high enough Democratic Brazil just might improve its nations financials and obliterate a few other countries in the process ….. now then, which Oil-igarks / Companies might it use to do this dirty deed …… Exxon. Bp. Shell ……. then maybe link into the Falklands HUMUNGOUS oil reserves too ….. oh, they’re British and would be OURS to reduce OUR dependency on OPEC+ or whatever and fill our Govts coffers with spondoolies £££ 😂👍 Then we could enjoy almost zero cost( ex tax ) fuel at the pumps …….. hahahaha that will NEVER come about Heaven knows when any Govt will allow us to economically run our cars ……. Probably never 👎 ….. whatever the fuel ! Cest le vie Malc
-
And if they don’t see reason then I’m happy to put my £££££ into Lidl and Aldi which don’t sell fuel and we know aren’t taking us for a ride in that way whatever …….. damnable fuel prices eh …. And it’s the financially hard pressed that will be suffering the most ….. where’s your collective consciences Supermarkets and Issa Bros ( is it ) ???? Malc
-
they're running a business in challenging times and at every twist and turn they will inevitably make a profit BUT it's what we, the general public might consider a reasonable profit and NOT created by cartel type arrangements whether unofficial or not .. so where's the competition element in the retailers thinking ? it's GONE During covid times i think the UK Govt actually allowed the retailers of fuel to operate an Official Cartel BUT that has been formally dismantled BUT clearly the retailers think it's still ok to RIP US OFF willy nilly the buggers eh ! Malc
-
Of course we’re held to ransom on Fixed Prices by opec and oil producers BUT irresponsibly high profit margins charged by the prime UK retailers Tesco Asda Sainsburys Morrison MFG and the like are a NATIONAL DISGRACE Malc
-
Then retailer margin on petrol is about 6% ! A figure that’s probably net after all costs relating to the business of selling the petrol ….. pumps technology forecourt depreciation and all else no doubt …… likely an extortionate and unacceptably high margin …… we will never know I’m sure They’ll never reveal the true profit margin to the public nor the Govt nor the RAC I’ll wager nevermind, we Joe Public will be continually disadvantaged by these purveyors of our essential fuel needs I’m sure Malc
-
I’m quite convinced we’re being totally fleeced and hung out to dry “ over a barrel “ ( of oil) by all these manipulating fuel retail Userers and Thieves the lot of ‘em Shame on the fuel retailers for their total disregard for the publics challenging personal finances in these, for very many, straitened times As I said earlier I for one will be trying to do my general shopping away from these “ crooks” and giving my daily business to those that don’t sell fuel and fleece us ….. such as Aldi and Lidl supermarkets Malc Rant over but I fear not for long !
-
Fuel duty is currently levied at a flat rate of 52.95p per litre for both petrol and diesel, while VAT at 20% is then charged on both the product price and the duty. I've just lifted this from the RAC website stuff A ltr of fuel at say £1.50p pump price ........... so taxation is 52.95p in Fuel Duty plus 25p in vat = about 78p per litre so that means the forecourt cost price incl profit is 72p / ltr . now then, how much is the price delivered to Tesco et al so we can determine the pump gross profit Any thoughts ? Malc

Renovation project with SC430 - new colour on the car!
Malc1 replied to NICO1972's topic in Lexus SC430 Club
must be tempting to just never use the " new " car on the road ! Scary to get it " harmed " in any way Malc -
it's always been an unofficial and illegal cartel .............. when buyers get thin on the ground, say in economic hard times . coming up now . then Asda is the first to see sense and try to capture more of the diminishing market ............. otherwise that's why I use the best value fuel around and will only ever try to use Lidl and Aldi coz they don't sell petrol Malc
-
Did the polybushings thoughts ever materialise ? Malc

Just thought you might have had some awareness of the vendor etc Malc

I’m now reading the policy docs just emailed over and OMG ! the underlying insurer is Trinity the Adrian Flux Group owned insurer that cockedup awfully well with my Honda Legend claim all those years back ….. aaaagggghhhh God Help me if I ever need to make a claim 🤣 Then I remember Markerstudy and the replacement windscreen debacle all those years back on my 1991 Ls400 …… unbelievable really ….. they own Autoglass ( is it ) and had to agree to me using a local Indy windscreen coy coz they couldn’t get the new screen for weeks and weeks ….. next day from 1st Call a local coy …… Markerstudy insured me then too also ……. fiascos going forward might be avoided with God’s help hopefully …… fingers xd OR simply 3rd time lucky 🍀 Malc
