  1. Ronnie you’re not wrong my prior claims experience with AdieBlxFuchs was just TERRIBLE and I vowed never never ever to use them again ! I hold out zero hope of any good outcomes or satisfaction in the event of a claim …… insuring with them or indeed anyone with a negligible value Lexus ancient V8 is a requirement by Law God help me in the event of a claim tho’ Malc
  2. I went on a comparison website to sort out the comprehensive insurance for the New to Me Mk1 Ls400 I bought last month They mirrored the NCD earnt on existing Saga policy for my Mk3 Ls400 and Honda Legend ...... max 16 years it seems . bit odd that but there we are ...... Full NCD mirrored Then I had to make some adjustment to the quotation status ..... bigger wheels, 16" rather than the OEM 15" . I just wasn't able to do that on the Comparison site with the Insurer they reckoned I should use SO I simply went to the nominated insurer and bypassed the comparison site and WOW WOW WOW exactly the same insurance with the same insurer ( Sterling / Adrian Flux/ Trinity ) but about £100 cheaper than thru the Comparison site ( Supermarket summat or other ??? ) Maybe an idea for others to pursue with their new insurance .... I'm sure they all make it up as they go along and try it on for sure ! Just to get what they think the punter will bear to pay eh ! Malc
  3. Those L centre emblems ….. I’ve one missing from my 4 wheels …… can you please send me the link ? thanks Malc
  4. jeez that's UGLY Malc
  5. Austin Allegro comes to mind Malc
  6. BUT on more aged cars using E5 reducing the degrading long term ethanol effect on the fuel system, rotting plastics whatever it’s not just octanes per mpg per £££ It’s also the degradation of the system effect Malc
  7. Who’s Sue then , the dopey bmw driver on her mobile ? why can’t she serve us at a supermarket till ? I refuse to use the self-serve tills ….. I wave my walking stick around the moment someone suggests I do ….. my trolley might only have a pint/ quart is it ? of milk BUT for me to manipulate a basket and my stick, well, something would end up someone else’s butt ….. but for my tolerance and lack of impatience in a sod…ng supermarket ….. growl ! and if someone parks in a ( my ) Blue Badge space without a BB then I sure do rant and rave and wave my stick around and at ‘em …… I’m usually quiet and tolerant ….. I’m a Lexus V8 driver ….. of course 😅 Malc
  8. Mk1 pitfalls come to mind …… there’s just the 2 1. the leaking pas reservoir onto the alternator ….. must ensure the gaskets are sound 2 the coolant reservoir cap rubbers disintegrate and suddenly go pop ….. a non Lexus replacement will suffice Malc
  9. Lexus V8s are probably the least expensive of any V8 Marque to run Must be right coz I’ve been running mine for some 25 years on “ being nigh on broke “ 🤣 Well, maybe not but most other cars in the family and friends non Lexus marques seem to cause them financial angst ! Lexus V8 forever ! Malc
  10. and do the exterior lenses need some tlc too ? Malc
  11. ah but wot on earth does one do with surplus cash in excess of £ 500,000 and wanting it " on demand " to say, buy a new car .............. 😇 or indeed 2 x 5 ltrs of oil with cash in hand .......... what problems to have eh ! 🤩 Malc
  12. I was just thinking of my new yuasa battery “ silver “ best quality bought the other day order online to pay when I collect at my local GSF store £166. at 65% discount Buy over the same counter ( I asked specifically ) non pre-order £ 244 % ?? off Full price silly money about £445 YES I know the figures don’t add up BUT you see how businesses are all over the place pricing and stockholding these days I think selling the Silver top of the range one was exceptional tbh …… holding stock must be a nightmare for businesses Malc
  13. Swift ….. it’s good to see another “ active “ Mk1 owner here 😅 I’ve just acquired mine these past two weeks …… having had my first Mk1 about 25 years ago J54DAP ….. sadly long gone ! Malc
  14. Whatever the business it seems to me it’s trying to maximise profit opportunities before they just “ vanish” into the ether ……. the whole concept of stockholding, financials is taxing the brain cells of all businesses Finance bods …… it’s very difficult to survive right now let alone make lasting £££££ retentions for the business going forward Prices for everything seem to be all over the place and the “on-line” prices of many products just beggar belief from regular suppliers who are just trying to get that competitive edge AND still make profit Thankfully we aren’t in Argentina right now where upcoming inflation is about 200% pa Its probably going to be good to buy what you think you might need for the next couple of years to “ stockpile” and make that investment rather than leaving the money ££££ in the bank earning a pittance in taxable interest Malc
  15. Well done getting your brand new 73 plate today ... I have seen a few non-Lexus on the road already today .... of course much inferior cars tho' .............. for what it's worth my " new to me " 73 plate car last Wednesday week was J 73 PBX . I hadn't appreciated the significance of that " 73 " marker till now Enjoy the car, she looks brilliant Malc
  16. I can ever barely hear the whisper of my V8 purr whatever the speed and revs ....... maybe it's my hearing is a bit defunct 🤣 Malc
  17. The “fix” is to drive more rationally methinks ! Malc 🥲
  18. The Worlds gone totally nuts bringing a Class Action over the size of a Whopper when theres ‘00,000’s of young men dying in Ukraine wtf is going on with our Society ????? Malc
  19. Maybe ALL proposed MPs should be obliged by Law or other to have had at least 10 years in a front line real job understanding " life as we know it " But then that would be considered prejudicial no doubt ! Malc
  20. Yes you’re right and I’ve seen several Mk3s with this offside rear wheel arch issue …… notwithstanding, in my case, particular regular hosing off of all the accumulating crud …… so maybe an inherent design fault But there, very few 25/30 year old cars have even escaped the crusher by now …… just a bit of hopefully relatively simple repair …… a survivor of the War of the Roads eh ! 😅 Malc
  21. I’ve sure got that Mk3 rear wheel arch rust too on one side ……. I’m planning to get it sorted sometime ….. mines an October 1995 247k miles now Cat N car with plenty of dings and dents …… original factory lacquer starting to peel roof one side AND this last year the original paint finish has really started to deteriorate ……. like supermarket baskets being rubbed over the flat surfaces …… BUT mechanically she’s simply A1 and I’d do a 4999 mile trip in her tomorrow without any hint of trepidation simple fact in life that cars of 30 years vintage in everyday normal use are likely to have some “ blemishes “ 🤗 Cest le vie Malc
  22. Blue Badge holders don’t usually get exemption UNLESS they’re driving a Registered Disability Vehicle …… it’s the vehicle that qualifies Malc
  23. I've never seen such Advisories .... maybe he was learning on the job ....... his FINGER TOUCH on the plastic sills might say it all ! 🤣 Malc
