India, the largest democracy in the world, strangely won't condemn Putin as criminal ........... G20 has just shown that today . BUT it's not endorsing him either ...... indeed India has been very reliant on Russia for a very long time to provide it with weapons to counter balance the Xi Empire stretch into India territory ....... notwithstanding Xi is now very very close buddy with Putin ........... and Xi will doubtless explore how China will be taking over the minerals etc withing the depths of Russia and there'll be absolutely bugger all Putin's regime can do about that too at the end of that very very long day ......... I think it's about time we, the UK befriended a sensible huge democratic nation like Brazil . to encourage BP et all to assist them in nurturing development of their enormous oil and gas reserves in their ocean areas . and stretch that down to OUR UK areas similarly around our Falklands . then see the price, cost, value of these energy elements collapse for sure . why give all the money to Putin and Saudi the USA whatever ............ and with it bring benevolence and education in the sensible use of these fuels for the benefit of mankind, oh, and us too of course Malc

Looking at my Ls400 Manual from 1991 it’s simply 95 octane or better BUT. we KNOW that it’s not the octanes I’m worried for now, it’s the new fuel Ethanol content degrading the fuel lines and systems The E5 is majority anti Ethanol proofed We understand other more modern cars might also be Ethanol degradation susceptible too Malc

I'll moan about a stupid Merc driver yesterday .... left enough space in front of me coz it was an L Plate Lorry driving along . 50mph limit bit bendy road and not usually for overtaking 2 X Mercs behind me and the first decided to overtake me and plop himself behind the L Plate Truck both doing 50mph of course ....... then he decided to overtake the truck and OMG, the truck braked, the several cars coming towards him braked to a standstill and the stupid Merc driver just managed to complete his overtaking .. IDIOT Anyway, the Merc behind me decided NOT to overtake me . in my super dooper 32 year young Ls400 . we all reached the inevitable roundabout after a few mins and the errant idiot Merc was just 2 cars in front of me and the L plate truck . all emerging unscathed from that roundabout Black Merc with a stupid " go faster " driver . wish the Police had been following and got the bugger for Dangerous Driving eh ! London ULEZ and Congestion Charge and Pollution ... what about a " new and refreshing " NON - SCRAPPAGE " scheme to keep good decent older cars on the road to save the need to deplete the planet of rare and other minerals , mining etc, making brand new vehicles .............. Lexus V8s ( older varieties ) would then live forever maybe 🤫 😇 Malc

written in Olde English, well, not so ...... just normal English and the differences are ... Mk1 non-interference engine remembering the seats are just as comfy as my Mk3 indicator stalk the other side no cigar lighter in the back seat armrests but a centre rear one ok the front ashtray isn't as deep to hold my iphone 😥 the aircon works 👍 no under tray pax front seat ...... where I hide my gold sovereigns ........... Mk1 seems a tad more powerful tbh, quicker and faster but maybe that's coz she's just been serviced and only done 97k miles ...... my Mk3 247k miles Both are brilliant stunning powerful V8s .... . my Mk3 has far more dings and dents and repaired Cat N rear door damage ... the Mk1 in grey looks just " stunning " by comparison I simply alternate their use unless we're off to Sadiq Khan ULEZ land when the Honda Legend has to suffice Now got 11.5 ltrs under the bonnets ! My biggest regret is not to have found the Ls400 sooner than 25 years back when I got my first ! Should have tried to find a 1989 Ls400 car back in the day ........ I don't regret buying nor selling any of my ordinary other cars tbh Malc

I don't suppose by any chance you kept the Radio /CD / Tape Unit from your Mk1 ? I'd like to replace the " updated " Alpine unit that I have with this new to me Mk1 Thanks Malc

Steve I remembered your saying earlier about Classic Insce just being proscribed from earning its own NCD that’s why I was worried when Saga wouldn’t insure my Mk1 as it’s over 30 years old and in a couple of years my Mk3 will also have to go the Classic way too But they Sterling did “ mirror” the NCD going forward and so long as I insure at least one younger car that earns NCD ( the 2006 Honda Legend ) then I should be ok I’m thinking Heaven forfend I have a knock Claim tho ! and of course they’ll change the rules as they go along too They make it up as they go along I’m sure Things will be different again next renewal no doubt !
