  1. I'm sure my " new to me " 1991 Ls400 has the original cambelt, waterpump etc at just short of 98k miles ...... I'll get this 6/700 mile trip off to Wales under my belt these next couple of weeks at which time the fresh MOT will be due ....... at which I'm not expecting any issues arising ..... then I'll think about renewing the cambelt, knowing it's possibly looking like new under there ! The cam belt isn't due on my Mk3 ( as in the video ) for about another 60k miles Malc
  2. Just don't worry about the dust . it's a car, it needs to be driven here and there, out and about just as much as can be ........... and once the engine oil and all other fluids have been checked over as being all ok then she probably won't need looking at again until the next service interval, maybe annually and with the MOT Just sit in her, drive and ENJOY ..... Oh and put fuel in her sadly, occasionally 😇 Malc
  3. depreciation and finance costs, electricity costs, charging points ............ Uk and global inflation and being on the brink possibly of a recession ...... inability for the majority of the public to buy any new car let alone an EV .............. Scary for any Govt to pontificate on any of that, the rest must just be dabbling around the edges of it all ... surely Let's wait and see ...... I suspect there will be nowt new of any consequence coming from the mouths of Govt ......... nor anyone else Malc
  4. I'm sure we would all be happy to look out for your car Mario and help you get her back ........... if you wanted to share some details for us ..... so rare to see one around here tho' Malc
  5. Any brand new car one buys will offer pain-a-plenty BUT only if you let it worry you .... just put it all behind you and think you have a wonderful car for many many years ahead and never think about the on-going costs and depreciation ........ my example above shows a silly figure of only about £1350 a month depreciation .... don't fret about any of it . no car's worth it ! Malc
  6. yep for sure summer has returned to glorious Kent ( today anyway ! ) Malc
  7. this name has been mentioned before in some Forum Posts here ... but I don't remember where or when other than someone said that our Lexii were fitted with this named system ! Anyone remember which model ? and when ? Malc
  8. Mountain Bike sales there are very very poor and slow I understand too 🙄 Malc
  9. It's a Mk3 with the interference engine should the cambelt " snap " I was reading some years ago that the early Ls400s cambelt life to " snap " was 150k miles .......... taking a chance for sure by not changing it ... must be tempting not to tho' if the waterpump is still all ok ! Ho hum ...... a wonderful car and worthy of a better future in life surely ? Malc
  10. and the likely factor of 66% capital depreciation over 3 years on the £74k cost ??? of £ 48,840 ............ ( that's 3 years at 10k miles pa ) Woweeeeee, an absolute gift at that tiny cost 🤣 Malc
  11. I'm visiting Ruthin week after next .... when should I leave Kent to schedule my arrival ? Malc
  12. fredsmith hi . well then, that's a brilliant result from an independent sensible indy ........ hope you're doing a good on-line Review for them if they have a website Also, is this one of the good'uns we should all now about in case we can use them at some future time ? And your car " lives again " at comparative tiny ££££ cost Thanks Malc
  13. a good bodied specimen is always worthy of good maintenance ....... lucky previous owner to have simply got away with not spending too much on here BUT he did do the brakes and tyres and obviously did oil changes whatever so it's not really had zero maintenance . just not really enough maintenance . but hey, he got away with it ! That leather seating looks sad tho' Malc

You could always post me one of those please ……. Malc
  15. Why would you want to “ wheel clamp “ your car ? super immobiliser maybe 🤔 Malc
  16. Lucky I'm not worrying too much about my fuel consumption with speed these days She goes from zero to lots of mph very very quickly and stops pretty quickly too ..... not quite as fast as my Mk3 and with new Mk3 pads all round, well, the Mk3 is a " stopper " for sure Malc
  17. Michael, what is the matter with the car to warrant a new radiator ? You must have been very rich in 1997 to have bought her brand spanking new 😉 Malc
  18. Thank you so much George ........ I'll take super care in the new 20mph speed restriction areas popping up around here then 🥲 but won't worry too much about the MOT speedo shortfall reading 😃 Malc
  19. my very recent experience last Friday of this distance monitoring tells me it can be simply quite " vague " But thanks ! Malc
  20. Fingers xd and faith in the leprechaun then 😉 Malc
  21. Just reflecting on my " new " Mk1 Ls400 and the wheel and tyre changes from the original 15" some time back She's now on 16" wheels and 225/55/16 tyres .............. and drives fine The 16" wheels are with appropriate sized bolt shanks I'm advised HOWEVER I'm not at all convinced that the speedo is reading quite correct miles covered Does anyone know with any certainty what the formula must be for this change of wheel size etc ? At the moment I'm simply relying on the prior tyre advisers and providers to have sold the correct stuff ....... I'm a bit loathe to visit any old tyre place for their thoughts ..... confidence wouldn't be inspirational ! Is there a magic but correct formula ? Thanks for your thoughts everyone Malc
  22. Tom hi and welcome to lots of the sound advice from above 😇 Dublin and the euro might be challenging on determining best pricing and taxes etc if you're even thinking to import from the mainland UK Whatever you decide just make sure it's affordable and what you want ( of course ) and also get that fresh but independent MOT equivalent AND a body like the AA to give your likely chosen car a good check over . could be money well spent to make sure you're not buying a lemon as you say you're not very ALSO, if you're on finance for this purchase, the economic situation won't be helping you going forward with likely interest rates whatever Good luck Malc

Next things going to be developing the craziest fastest Mobility Scooter that’s both ULEZ and road tax free …… but that’s going to be an EV propulsion thingy ! Can I wrap one around my V8 4ltr do you think ? Malc

Good God What the hell’s the point in having a car you can’t easily happily freely use for everyday normal and family life 🤔 Malc

btw I personally think the LC models look bloody sad and awful .......... but again, that's maybe a generational thing too 😥 ....... some people ( maybe me ) have no taste eh !🙃 Malc
