Making the cash offer in front of them face to face, with Xmas approaching and a surfeit of Ls600s ……. will want them not to let you walk away car less and them short of a good pile of cash ……. just depends how the “ interview “ pans out and how you react to their “ bugger off “ reaction Think maybe this specific car might owe them just £ 3or 4k ….. if that ! They’re car dealers needing cash not a pile of metal sat on the forecourt …… they have their overdraft to pay down 😰 Be brave and go4it …… if it’s the car you really really want ! Malc

Caning generated excess heat …… I personally know ……. our Headmaster was very accomplished, every day whacking us errant kids for some imaginary misdemeanour or other ……. could that have affected Climate Change, all that heat from the whacking ! Glad it’s now proscribed if only for the Climate Heat reduction Malc

Have we yet covered the age old concept of caning the kids that can’t be bothered to do well at school ?? And maybe disrupt the other kids trying so so hard to achieve Especially when parents put so much into trying so hard to help their kids achieve ….. State or Private education Malc

An awful lot of “ hot air “ being bandied about with this thread …….. clearly exacerbating the Climate Change problems 🤩 Malc

Considering this was a @£100k car new back in the day the depreciation factor has possibly been a min of 12/15% pa and effectively a 10 y/o car has by now been sensibly written down to zero by any owner from new Customer/Owners Getting “ rid of “ these cars by a p/ex gives dealers an opportunity to max their on-sale profits from what might have been an almost £nil effective acquisition price and I’d have thought a sensible dealer would be happy, with so many for sale right now, take a hit on any asking price coz the money they get, whatever it is, might be sheer simple profit ! By way of info …… I'm also an erstwhile and aged “professional” car dealer and I’m reflecting simply my business “ hat on “ thoughts Shifting un-shiftable stock is high on the business agenda tbh ……. especially with Christmas fast approaching and cashflow tight Good luck with your negotiations …… be very interested in the outcomes Malc

Oil flushes …….. is this really necessary or even desirable in modern engines having been properly serviced ? an Urban Myth maybe, like UCL upper cylinder lubricant “ shots” with petrol refuelling in olden times ! My engine on 247k miles has never, to my knowledge, had other than simple ordinary oil and filter changes and ( touch wood ) functions well I’m sure you’ll make the right decision for you …… just don’t waste your money if it’s an irrelevance Best wishes Malc

Recent MOT fixes were just Dust Covers so looks to have probably been well looked after for quite some years …… Cat S worth investigating and of course your potential car insurers will want to know all about it before quoting you and deciding “ value “ and ts&cs Looks a nice car otherwise but hey there’s now a plethora of good looking Ls600s for sale and giving you a wide choice Good luck finding the right one Malc

I mentioned some months back about a company converting older RRs and Bentleys to EV ...... about £400k tho' Malc

I know bugger all about Inheritance Tax nor worrying about passing on my modest home ( asset ) to anyone . if my taxable estate exceeds the threshold I'll be a tad surprised ......... I'm in the process of making sure it all ( well most of it anyway ) gets away from me before I kik'da'bouquet .... . I'll better start shopping in Waitrose in future ... and buy myself that 3rd Ls400 . or could it be a pair of Sc430s I'm wondering ....... maybe I NEED 7, one a day ....... I sure won't be going for the chauffeur / driver that my delegated Delhi Boss is having for his brand new car next week .............. touchy feely for me with my driving BUT I have urged him just never to want to pass any driving test in India . the Delhi roads are just " amazing " ... 24/7 Traffic Calming speed and dodging the odd elephant, camel, horses and those revered cows that scatter all around the streets Oh for the luxury of a complete 7 day set of Lexiii Malc

Unless of course it’s the house and home of the otherwise inheritance taxable family members ……… thinking passing on a car is tax free maybe ? Roll on the plaything fleet of collectible Astons 👌 But cash and those evil Securities, yes, flog the lot the week before you die and just give it all away ……. even giving some to HMRC Just like Bernie Ecclestone last week ,,,,,,, having to “ donate “ £652 mln to HMRC ……. help defray some NHS hospitals expenses hopefully 👏 At age 92 is it ? I doubt he’ll worry too much about paying his electric bill nor his Waitrose / Aldi shop 🤔 Malc

then you're calling for a really good subsidy on EV car insurance to attract people to switch from other modes ? Might encourage a better take-up ! Malc

a Vanity purchase ……. what’s the price of that one asks 😂 Malc

……… and then one simply passes on …… dies and you should only be remembered for the Good you’ve done in life ……. reading one’s FT from up high and reflecting on what more you could have done …… ah yes, buying into the Management of the Coy and instilling much of that same ethos …….. simply You can’t Take it With You eh ! 😇 Malc

Hahaha Warren Buffet and his side-kick Charlie Munger …… haven’t they done well …… and still going …… keeping the brain cells active wards off lots of health issues …… my role models in life …… think Warren until recently ran a beat-up old banger til his daughter made him upgrade …… to a much newer but 6 y/old car Canny guy would never waste his money on cars ! UNLESS he secretly hoardes a fleet of Astons simply for capital appreciation 🤔 Malc

Nice write-up and looks very very smart ……. even a new ( unnecessary ? ) exhaust by Lexus Guildford in 2018 ! a very few miles ago ……. don’t we just bespoke replace the front part that’s irreplaceable from a now OEM unavailable £700 section ! This car might last its next owner forever and probably represents ok value for money good for at least another 500,000 miles eh 😄 ……. Just a 10th the price of a brand new high tech electronic wizardry Lexus for sure ……. but more comfortable and reliable surely 👍 As to value for money ……. who on earth wants an ancient car like this these days ……. Might be worth £20k in a couple of years too 👏 Lovely car BUT must be used everyday to appreciate the quality Malc
