  1. Then there’s the Clean Air Stickers too you need to buy before you go ,,,,,, various posts here about this need …… to avoid BIG fines you’ll have a great time I’m sure. I’ve not been since pre Covid …… the RAC used to give advice on their portal about drivers needs enjoy the trip Malc
  2. I'd have thought with your 15 year young car that any competent garage would be able to source an appropriate gaiter and do the entire job BUT not the one you've just asked, clearly Looking back at the old bills I've inherited with the " new to me " Mk1 Ls400, the CV gaiter cost £168 to fit in Nov 2018 ......... no indication of the cost of the gaiter itself .. maybe that was included ! I'd have thought a suitable generic gaiter would be fit for purpose BUT leave all that to a competent garage ........ where you get your car regularly serviced maybe ? Good luck Malc
  3. Don’t think I’m ever going to be an Ex - Lexus Owner …. Other cars a Honda Legend 😊 just bought another to add to my collection ……. a Mk1 Ls400 with 97k August 91 car from a Member on here few dings and scrapes but oh my ….. wot a great car ….. in for a service Wednesday so I’ll make sure she’s “ good to go “ till the MOT November time exactly same as my first one about 25 years ago She drives, and stops very very well even before its service …. with ease to silly speeds and in supreme comfort too ….. of course So then, I’ll always have one or ‘t other of my Lexii 😇
  4. Well done, blimey you’ve done some amazing work on her BUT ……… I still think you’re a cheapskate in just spraying the emblem gold rather than having one made from the true 9ct stuff 😇 Malc ( I jest of course, well done )
  5. at 247k miles now I'm on original springs + 1 replacement ....... half that mileage back and years ................ I've never found a bill for shock absorbers either ............ these are truly wondrous cars 😆 Malc
  6. Ted hi good afternoon . I've sent Steve2006 a message to bring this to his attention ...... I'm sure he'll get back to you asap ....... fingers xd Bet wishes Malc
  7. personally ...... I would try to avoid BluePrint .... my experience with them generally isn't that brilliant ! If you're having the work done by your trusted Indy mechanic maybe he could advise you and order whatever on your behalf to be fitted ? Malc
  8. Finding a good early one takes away all that stress and worry of trading “up” ??? to a younger beast with potentially challenging and very expensive upcoming issues ….. e.g. Air Suspension and silly things like that 😂 Malc
  9. I'll be doing the photoshoot when my gf returns from holidaying at Centr Parcs in Holland with her family end of next week .... she has a much better iphone than me for piccys and will understand how to upload them too here ...... beyond the wit of man, well me whatever 😥 Malc
  10. UPDATE ....... my " new " Mk1 sits proudly in grey with newish, not Mk1 original wheels .. at the moment ........... popping her into my local indy Wednesday for a quick checkover and air filter and oil change whatever .......... she drives and stops very well ........ and as I now remember from my first Mk1 25 years back, she wallows a little ( at silly high speed ) by comparison to my Mk3 and not quite up to the silly speed and acceleration, quickness, rapidity, that the engine upgrade to the Mk3 offered ( am I right there ) ? ......... All in all she's looking pretty smart and a great 32 year old survivor ..... 97k miles J73PBX ........ a credit to her prior owner of some 8 years Malcolm C I decided in the end I really couldn't be bothered with all that new fandangled electronic wizadry of a potential Ls430, 460 or 600 ............ but I still might get my Hydrogen powered Ls700 when that new big hydrogen Toyota appears in the UK and BP rollout sensible refuelling capacity in the UK too ..... years hence I'm sure A sensible addition to my 4ltr V8 " fleet " seemed a good way forward right now ......... and of course she's supremely comfortable too 🤩 Malc
  11. are spacesavers just generic or do they have to be specific for the car Marque these days ? if they can be for any car and any hub set-up ( within tyre size parameters ? ) then that makes finding one much easier ? anyone know the answers here ...... that would help in searching for one ! Malc
  12. Steve's often in and around here. I'm sure he'll pick up on you soon Good luck Malc
  13. and ................... NCB / NCD can be a max of 9 years or 16 years to reflect when and with whom one transfers .......... and if you've earnt that on any policy and your taking out anew with a different insurer then they will ( often ) reflect what you have already earnt elsewhere, such benefaction to make you feel good ! ............... they simply make it all up as they go along I'm sure Might be the attitude of the caller ( you ) when you make that call and of course, if the insurance sales agent had a good night and feeling on happy top Form it's a lottery which one rarely wins eh ! Malc

    Intro

Enjoy your time here Larry ….. the people on here are very informative with a wealth of knowledge Malc
  15. fully compliant by 2050 no doubt with a heat pump attached and well, I guess by then we'll maybe all be travelling in a Fully Compliant hearse whatever to our final destinations .... doubtless there'll be even stricter burning emission controls / burial limits on graves if appropriate ............ and all that sodding nonsense too 😅 ......... and heaven forfend anyone has to ever step outside the car to do an essential Peeeeee 🤩 Am I joking do you think ? Malc
  16. Good luck with the MOT by the way ....... hopefully the Tester will prevail to be enabled to make whatever an Advisory ! Malc
  17. I've never seen these BUT I'm always thinking the brake pipes are just summat the mechanic will run off a roll and bespoke make / join up with what's good ! Malc
  18. Thinking ,when i get my Mk1 later today perhaps you would like to pop over to inspect my Mk1 and Mk3 to see if the boot lid set-up differs from yours slightly ? Malc
  19. Stan sadly, or thankfully, I can offer zero input here I have never in all my Ls400s had this problem and my cars are ever only parked flattish ........ thinking, could it be specific to the Mk4 I wonder ! that might narrow it down a tad Malc
  20. when and if you do get around to doing them with poly stuff then do keep us posted ..... it might be an option whenever mine .... and others ..... bushings need refreshing If your local mechanic is also the MOT guy then I would go with his view rather than the Main Dealer that maybe just wants lots of your spare ££££ Malc
  21. so what's the price of fuel in France these days ? Malc
  22. good luck . it's rare to find a Ls400 owner here these days let alone a DHP owner Malc
  23. and another tiny conundrum ……. my additional “ new to me “ 1991 Ls400 is of course over 30 years young and I think somewhere I was reading with all this Clean Air Sticker that Europe wide this age becomes a Classic Car and free of emissions controls BUT still needs the EU Sticker ? ….. like in the UK with 40 year old classics being automatically ULEZ Exempt …… is that so ??? Your thoughts please Malc
