  1. Rz450e does seem to attract a lot of sad news ……. And the depreciation / resale prices are laughable, well unless you own one ! but I’m thinking all Marque EVs suffer much of this approbation Sour taste for many I’m sure Just can’t understand why people want to pay so much for such piles of x@&o?x …… when brilliant Lexus V8s are available for comparative tiny ££££s Good luck you ( to be maybe ) impoverished owners 😰 Malc
  2. An all day job by a competent mechanic with OEM parts about £200 ? maybe someone’s taking a huge amount of peeeeeeee at that £ Malc
  3. Technologically obsolescent seems to be flowing along almost each and every day with EVs sadly ! OR maybe thankfully 🤔 Malc
  4. today reading the Toyota prediction that their new EV likely in about 4 years will be a more sensible car with a 745 mile range and maybe a 10 minute recharge ! That's going to be the one to wait for and which the Coys Accts will approve of . if you have a company car that is ! I tend to believe Toyota more than i would the MG Chinese or Tesla et al Malc
  5. ............. into the realms of Classic Car collecting when an owner gets to this level of being obsessive .......... and there aren't many classic car collectors that are out there actually making any money if they treat it as any sort of business, nor indeed any store of future realisable £££££ value ! Classic Car collectors are often very wealthy and don't care a hoot about the £££££ Other Classic Car collectors dream about being wealthy often whilst ploughing shed loads £££££ into their cherished loved ones ...... often money they can ill afford Then there's the nutters like me, with my 1932 Triumph Southern Cross Sports Tourer, that just loves the car being used at every possible opportunity ...... by my custodian, my nephew and his young family ......... out to both Waitrose AND Aldi shopping, and also of course various shows maybe up to about 50 miles from car-base in Newmarket ....... with his delightful gun-dogs slobbering all over the upholstery too . of course 😉 I might become an erstwhile collector of Ls400s eh !🤣 Malc
  6. Best wishes with all you're doing to your rare Ls600 there’s a few active members that might have “ pointers “ for you Malc
  7. The AI will exponentially expand expand expand and overtake itself like a chasing dog on heat and never get to any “ end point “ that’s worth trying to understand …… let alone be of much practical use to most people in society ……. We can see that already with car electronics and how developments have made most modern cars simply “ unreliable” in normal everyday use …….. a sensor gets nudged in a bumper ……£3000 later with all new sensors thereat and a new bumper and 6 hrs labour …….. wots the point ….. old fashioned cars just “ worked “ with minimal maintenance and accepting of the odd nudge here and there …… driver back on the road immediately …… not 3 weeks later waiting for that elusive sensor from Mexico or Taiwan or ……… AI developments will create headaches aplenty with silly £££££££ costs attached ……. Some will of course be for the sensible benefit to Society and be embraced happily ……. and hopefully not cause an “ us and them “ rift in Society We’ll see eh ! ……… not retiring is the way to be ……keep those otherwise vestigial brain cells clanking away till the end of one’s time …… AI or nay 😇 Malc
  8. Wot the Dickens !! Malc
  9. Blimey, got my brick of a first mobile phone about 30+ years ago ……. Essential necessity for my business life in those days ESPECIALLY now too with global communications at just about zero cost ……. my business needs twixt Kent and India 😄 BUT being in 24/7 contact with my business ( on a needs must basis ) doesn’t mean that I personally have to get involved with any of this probably intrusive social media stuff …… BUT my business does and the staff just have to keep on top of it all ……. the main thrust right now seems to be Facebook and Google ……. god ‘elp ‘em all I say …… it pays the bills 👍 Where AI takes us heaven alone knows ……. My having a simple basic business feeding peoples “ needs “ is all I ( and the staff ) want …… it’s fun, it’s interesting and provides “welfare” for a dozen or so families ……. and me and my Ls400s 😂 Long live Social Media the font of all income for my business ……. even tho’ I personally don’t understand, don’t want to understand the social digressions and complexities, upsets and all it brings to global societies Malc
  10. Looking at Stephen's short link to AI above I do wonder if we should be believing any, or none, of the people putting themselves forward knowing about AI and whatever it might be heading towards us like a stampeding herd of trucks ........ doubtless we'll all cope rather well with whatever it is that's seemingly heading our way It might be the best option is just not to take too much, or indeed any interest in the subjects proffered . after all, those poor souls that get terribly wound-up about Facebook and Instagram. Linked-in and all those other amazing modern links that seem to affect so many in so many ways , good and bad .......... maybe best to be like me ...... just ignore it all and let it waft over me ............. Aldi forever together with the NHS is just about all I want .... well apart from E5 petrol and a pair of Ls400s 🤣 Malc
  11. Nope not even that .. I worked at our merchant bank County Bank in those days and one client was T&A and they graciously held a "sale" for our staff .... cheapy, well, not so ridiculously expensive bits and bobs Malc
  12. hahahahaha I still have a few ( neck ) ties from that esteemed establishment .... rarely worn apart from maybe the odd wedding .... and believe it or not I'm no " gentry " 😂 Malc
  13. I just wonder what any other AC specialist or Bacteria in Cars Specialist might say ? You're very trusting of your Main Dealer 🤫 what's the cost likely to be ? Malc
  14. So you didn’t offer them the 50% or maybe 30% cash value ? They might accept …… it possibly owes them that on their p/ex ! They're car dealers and “ need “ cash not metal on their forecourt Malc
  15. Couldn’t this be sorted by the seller ? Or at least paid for ? after all you’ve only just taken delivery ! Malc
  16. ……. when the coal man delivered sacks of coal on his wagon and tipped the sacks into the grille by the front door to fill the Coal Cellar AND the Rag & Bone man toured the streets ( of south London anyway ) on his horse drawn cart calling for “ any old iron “ Not seen any of those for decades ! Malc
  17. I remember office dress standards in the 60’s …… my first formal job, as a bank clerk …. my “ Old School” Bank Manager ….. ex wartime naval officer ….. sent me home to change my red pin striped shirt to “normal and acceptable “ formal white i was years ahead of my time of course ….. red pin stripe shirts quite normal City dress just a very few years later ….. oh the excesses of youth ! Ain’t I lucky I can remember some 50/60 years back 😂 Malc
  18. WOT ... I'm, and so should you too, be living every day as if it's my First ......... knowing I just haven't the energy for lots of " interesting " stuff I used to do as a lad, even a couple of years ago now .. the only " strange " and unwelcome thing is this feeling of knowing the energy and physical levels don't match up to my mind " wanting " to do stuff That's the strange part of modern day life ..... I could still just about press buttons A and B in the Red Telephone Box if they still had them eh ! Malc
  19. remember you can simply refill the V8 at any petrol station in a matter of a few minutes .............. should you wish to go " out of range " journeying anywhere maybe just hang on to your 14 year young ISF ! for those olden time carefree worry free trips Malc
  20. .................. call me Old Fashioned I guess BUT I do actually regularly open windows and occasionally, but rarely the sunroof too ......... the aircon is possibly a vestigial item in my Ls400 repertoire Malc
  21. so then Waz, have you made that appointment to go see and face to face negotiate that purchase ? Malc
  22. but which one ??? Malc
  23. 4 cats and outside Aldi . and it's going to be a " begging trough " . a bowl just won't hold enuf lose change 😇 Malc
  24. Update on 20mph …….. 5 days in north and mid Wales and the 20mph limit signs and speed cameras in part happily desecrated BUT in most part functioning well and gives the wandering sheep time to dodge the 20mph speedsters got quite used to going from 50-40-30-20mph in a few yards and holding up all the Q behind me ……. maybe improved my average mpg to 28.4 over the total 800 mile trip from leafy Kent to stunning Ruthin and surrounds Btw, my town, Queenborough Kent is now a 20mph zone too ….. but I still have the red flag in my cellar from the 1895 occupants 😂 Malc
  25. Good luck with it all We none of us know how to predict our futures ……. Not looking and that sodding bus comes along unexpectedly and “ takes you out “ ……… maybe the only certainty is a Lexus Ls400 might outlast you, me, us all 😂 Happy Retirement and screw the finance providers for all we can …… spend spend spend ….. the kids won’t need it …… if they haven’t made all they need in life by the time you, me, us reach the end of the line in our early 100’s then well that’s sad ……. They’ll be old and knackered too ……. Just like me anyway well done and Good Luck Malc
