  1. Please everyone, just read Power Steering Fluid pipe in place of my irreverent " water " wordage . all else was the same 👍 Thank you Malc
  2. I've never driven a Ls430 ....... only owned a Ls400 pretty much constantly for 25+ years and maybe got accustomed to the quality of all that Lexus stuff .. and over at least some 250k miles or more happy driving ...... much less now of course sadly .. age creeps up on one eh ! Malc
  3. Stefan hi ……… any closer to a rational decision 😂🤣 Aged and wealthy helps …….. a sinking fund of some £££££ size might be appropriate ……… what’s your thoughts ? Malc
  4. Plastic lens colours would do that to some extent maybe 🤔 Malc
  5. Have you ever driven an older Ls400 ? They are generally bullet proof in all respects and void of much supatech and all that fragility 🤞🤞 Malc
  6. that looks a very similar set-up to my N reg Ls400 down there ............ if it is then it's simply a leaking water pipe that's replaceable with ordinary copper tubing, albeit an odd diameter size . if that's all it is ............ just a water cooling pipe Happened to me a few years ago now and the Lexus replacement part was about £80/100 then BUT it's just a run of copper tube . cost about £2.50 in tube plus someone's an hour labour Maybe I’ve got that wrong about being a water pipe tho’ Bit too teccy for me tbh Malc
  7. But your ( perhaps ill informed ) opinion might not agree with the MOT strict criteria on rear lamps ……… as a preliminary to doing work like this perhaps it would be astute to seek the advice of an MOT Tester upfront 🤔 Just a thought 😄 Malc
  8. Be careful you don’t mess it up for the MOT rules 🤔 Malc
  9. They made no mention at the last service and MOT ? does the reversing light work ok ? They might actually be ok, they work ! rarely look at my car from the rear tho’ Others here might have a view for you 🤔 Malc
  10. Stefan, I don’t know how long you’ve had your RAV4 but I’m thinking you’ve been totally protected from the vagaries of owning a challenging car these past years and expect the same from a Ls600 ……… my bro-in-law has his RAV4 and whilst a car-nut generally ( racing his mini years past up the Selvio Pass whatever ) and plenty of dosh to buy any car he could now wish for, is very content with his brill aged RAV4 …….. just take care wanting to move into the unknown, albeit a Lexus 😅 Good luck Malc
  11. The pricing is so dependent on ……… well, many many issues but if your car is as good, or even better than she looks on here, and the service history and pre-emptive preventative maintenance has been carried out sensibly and professionally, then someone’s going to be keen to enjoy perhaps one of the best cars on the road at this time …….. they don’t make ‘em like this anymore eh 😄 Buying from any Dealer comes with it a legal obligatory warranty and with that a Dealers Premium ……. they all have to make a living and take on board that “ risk “ …….. Buying privately has its issues BUT great benefits too when you’re looking at a remarkable limo …….. hopefully like this 🤞🤞🤞 £8k buying a superb car is really peanuts these days imho Good luck with the sale Malc
  12. She looks a very nice car and Good Luck with the sale 🤞 Malc
  13. Stefan hi, When I thought LAST YEAR to buy a Jap import Ls600 I was almost there BUT what turned me off was the seeming impossibility to get it all, everything, all knobs dials gauges hieroglyphics totally in English ……. some of it residualed to Japanese whatever Yes an import seemed fantastic value for money ….. always low miles and super quality with the same on-going Lexus parts costs and all And probably a simply great car to own, drive and thoroughly ENJOY for years ahead If you’re ok accepting some non-English with your new car then all could be well ……. In the end I bought my 2nd, J reg 91 Ls400 with 97k genuine miles ……. more or less replicated my very first J reg one a Qtr century ago 👍 Having two great, aged and a bit worn Ls400s should see me out too …… I’m 74 and thoroughly enjoy my Ls motoring knowing, from experience, that they’ll give me great and thoroughly enjoyable secure comfy motoring forever and a day 🤞🤞🤞 ………. wherever I should wish them to take me Good luck making your right decision 🙏 Malc
  14. Reading these posts I find it incredulous that any car manufacturer, let alone LEXUS, fit their cars with “ not fit for purpose “ interior ( or any ) finishes that are prone to damage from owners simply “ living “ a normal life with their cars No owner should have to worry about this sort of thing in everyday normal use ……. simply unacceptable imho Cars should never be “ that delicate “ Malc
  15. 557,000. Signatures exactly as of right now 👍👏👏👍 Malc
  16. Stan hi, Are all the seats effectively “ shrink wrapped “ too …….. for whatever reason ? Hope the cambelt waterpump etc was changed recently coz the concurrent post about this in a Ls430 puts that cost at @£4k alone these days 🥵 We understand one can spend enormous amounts on this ( and any ) car or indeed be rather astute and spend much less to effectively get a great car too ………. Good luck 🤞 Malc
  17. There’s one on Car&Classic with 88k sold at £5k auction bid and immediately reappeared on Autotrader at £8990 with a dealer 👍 Malc
  18. I found Varta batteries ( on my 2006 Honda Legend ) absolutely useless …….. Yuasa are the ones I’ve always used on my Lexii Malc
  19. If the cambelt and waterpump changes have been made per those sticker advices then you’re possibly ok not to do them again quite so soon with the very small increased mileage ……. fingers xd all would be fine for a while yet 🤞🤞🤞 Malc
  20. I find it quite interesting to read these on the Car&Classic website ..... some more ancient one's have been doing quite well 👋 Malc
  21. I followed a 91 J reg bootiful looking huge BMW 7 ? series or other ……. Possibly worth very little but wow, what a car 👍 There’s a time in life when juggling petrol cost savings just doesn’t add up vis a vis quality of motoring …….. for me that arrived long back when I bought my first Ls400 J54DAP. ……. my “ new” to me 91 car last year reminded me of that first time, back some couple of decades or more ……… Also being happy to having an older car helps too 😄 Malc
  22. There’s plenty of people drive across to Ireland from mainland somewhere and I’m sure one or other would agree to transport it for you ……… Malc
  23. Ed hi, I think only doing 2-3k miles a year I’d have created that opportunity to keep a “ big “ car, comfort, power and all Hope you enjoy your Toyota of course Best of luck Malc
