Some years back i found a chap ( old/ex member here ) down south who I visited who zapped the Display out and " fixed " it with quite some skill on his kitchen table . coffee was served too He's no longer with us and indeed i have the need for that same quality specialist to sort out a display on both my Ls400s ......... maybe it's not as simple as replacing the back lights .......... Elon Musk saying new generation Tesla to be/being built in Germany with price starting at just US$ ? 25,000 AND dear old Warren Buffet just turned in a post tax profit of $10,6bn ? on his Berkshire Hathaway cash pile of $157bn ...... and his insurance underwriting businesses too . the age of wisdom prevails with dear old Warren and Charlie Munger ( who's a few years older ) .......... AND they own a great chunk of China BYD too of course Wonder if I'll " wise-up " in the next 30 years or so 😂 Malc

but you are in charge of this " thing " causing an accident ............. and i understand one can self-insure but that will require some huge leaps of finance backing required and probably a raft of DVLA Govt. and underwriting needs Malc

maybe Rockauto, Amayama, LexusPartsDirect . and possibly others ............ methinks you need to find a more helpful, useful indy mechanic / garage for your servicing etc that actually knows a little bit about keeping older cars on the road ..... and properly looking after their customers too Malc

This seems such a lottery getting sensible reasonable quotes from reputable insurers …… by Reputable I mean insurers that don’t ***** about too much when making a clearly valid claim ……. such a trial for us buyers when we know we just have to start this renewal process so far in advance to make sensible timely headway I only found by chance, from Saga, that my 1995 Ls400, Saga will NOT continue to insure when it reaches age 30 ….. they just don’t / won’t insure cars that age even tho I’ve insured her with them for many many years …… quite peeeeed me off tbh ! Just another nail in the insurers credibility coffin eh ! Malc

Just a Q ……. are the Cats in older Ls’s of a different quality / structure to more recent Ls’s ? I ask this coz Testing equipment at the/your MOT Station might be set-up possibly to reflect more modern Cat build structure and be intolerant of older designed Cats and unintentionally misread / give false readings ….. simply being less tolerant and giving effective “ false” readings OR maybe I’m on a red herring path 😰 Malc ( ignore me if it’s nonsensical )

I’ll suggest, nay insist my local council pool sorts out this apparent lack of tropical sea availability here on Sheppey Blimey I’m on an island in Kent and surely they can use natural sea water and “ tropicalise “ it for us local ratepayers ……. surely 😂 I wish 😇 Malc

Would arthritis and whatever be ameliorated should you go swimming I wonder 🤔 I go 2/3 sometimes 4 X a week just 20 lengths, up and down, a half hour …… and all those sodding aches and pains I get with walking seem to just vanish ……. it’s a blessing and gets a Lexus or two out and about to fro the local swimming pool too 👏 Malc

Hey, we’re all getting old and knackered to some degree and once you’ve been nigh on that last journey ……. and having by some miracle and lots of NHS tlc come thru to the other end that’s kept you actually alive ….. and comparatively able to keep going forward, ……. then we, well me anyway, just KNOW we’ve got to make the very best of each and every day that we actually awaken ……. Do NOT BUY THAT BENTLEY was the mantra from my Indy mechanic for all those years I hankered after a 1965 S3 ( or so ) ……. be on the trailer to him for expensive repairs as much as I could ever use it ……. KEEP TO YOUR Ls400 …… so much more sensible and cashflow retention ……. nowt to really go awry that was going to bankrupt me 😄 ….. he always said A wise man ! 😂 Malc

I’m not sure how or why I chanced upon this Post BUT it seems incredulous to me that you’re being fobbed off with un professionalism by Lexus in failing to provide simple effective essential kit for the essential joy of using your cars Its simply a DISGRACE and you’ve bought cars NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE to my mind Thank heavens I’m content with my dear old ladies …… your tales simply tell me never to bother buying a brand new car, well, a Lexus anyway 😰 Good luck to you all in getting all you think you’ve already bought ! And if you get a wack it’s likely the insurers will write you off in a heartbeat and leave the residue, ( of the ) car to be resuscitated as a Cat N maybe and penalise the next buyer by giving a silly low value in the event of another wack BUT charging a “ normal “ annual insce premium …… Write-Offs emerge lots on dealers forecourts and stand them in at silly low money Can be good to buy a well fixed up Cat write-off coz you can get an outstanding car hopefully for say 50% of its non w/off value …….. Insurers take a “ normal “ premium knowing their potential end of life liability will be very very low ……. I have no idea how often this Cat w/o can continue tho’ …….. 2 or 3 times maybe ! AND I’m thinking many Bentley owners are low mileage users and Ls600 users a great deal more miles pa I know my 2 near neighbours rarely use their Bentleys ( their 4th / 5th cars ) whatever …… the insurers are taking the peeeeeee in large measure ££££ Malc

I’ve not had anything like this issue ( yet ) on my 95 Mk3 at 247k miles But I use semi synthetic engine oil and had the front-end exhaust section rebuilt a couple of years ago coz that was irreparable after several years of “ fixing “ Maybe some of this could help ?!?🤔 And I always use E5 ….. usually Tesco or Shell V Power coz they’re 99 octane Hope you find the problem soon …… different MOT Tester maybe ! This boot lip water ingress ……. in my 25 years owning and now on X 4. Ls400s and probably driving 250k miles in them AND always being parked outdoors ……. I’ve never ( yet touch wood ) had this problem 🤔 Malc
