  1. 28 years later and i don't think mine's ever been changed n it's 247k miles ! Malc
  2. lucky he's not in a Public Car Park . a traffic warden would book him for parking other than totally within the bay area ........... They do my way for sure ...... Swale in Kent 🥶 Malc
  3. But worth every penny for the car you know and want to continue with …… what people pay for new cars with depreciation and finance costs makes keeping these ‘ loved ones ‘ a sensible choice Malc
  4. Paul hi ............... Adam Kensett on here is breaking his Sc430 Malc
  5. I should have also mentioned that my local, in Kent tho’, exhaust fabricator provided me an unavailable even at £700 front-end OEM complex set-up, at £300+vat a year or so back I’m sure your independent local exhaust specialist guys will provide a more sensible effective solution than Lexus OEM can provide at ……… WOT COST 😂 Call me an ambulance 😱 Malc
  6. Some years back when the exhaust Heat Shields popped loose on my 95 Ls400 I simply had it/them removed ……. I was assured it was designed/built with super-safety in mind and it was effectively a vestigial part Removed some years back and car is fine and now on a trusty 247k miles sans heat shields going forward Wonder if yours really need re-placing ? Malc
  7. Might of course be something you could pop into your local Motor Factor, Halfords or even B&M to buy 🤔 Malc
  8. And you can seemingly get it bespoke size made …… and at £3.99 seems brill Malc
  9. Hey I went TWICE ....... two different girlfriends, one of whom I actually married 🙃 ( and divorced 🤩 ) Didn't see you there ...... BUT wowee, wasn't it great at those times ! Malc
  10. Austin hi Do keep in touch here please there were so few Ls400s sold in the uk compared to the maybe million or so sold in the USA …… I’m thinking that with our older cars there might be a simpler source of essential spares more widely available …… that could be FedExd over I’m thinking most owners here would be happy to link into that if it was possible ……. WhatsApp, email whatever Best wishes with your immediate issues Malc
  11. Welcome to the Forum there’s very few owners here with older Ls400s My 1991 car just has non-button keys I’m afraid ….. not sure why …… my earlier 92 car had those specific style keys Good luck finding a solution Do please tell us more about your car ……… where are you —— non UK ? Malc
  12. Roaring down the road at a restricted 20mph then 👏 Malc
  13. Can you still buy paraffin for heating ? used these heaters a lot in the 1970’s or so Malc
  14. and that’s a “ triple “ stout tipple too Malc
  15. Roger ……. don’t know who you’ve asked to quote for all this BUT I’d have thought there’s a local’ish exhaust fitting business that will be able to check out what’s the issues and bespoke sort it all out …… at a sensible cost I’ve used a local Kent exhaust fabricator at Bower Lane Maidstone to sort out my lack of OEM available exhaust needs and at sensible cost …… they’re experts at sorting challenging problems economically too It’s a long way for you BUT do you want their details ? Malc
  16. .... in my Mk1 Ls400 it's simply Radio 2 ....... till I possibly decide to fix the aerial that's not seemingly linked to the replacement Alpine set-up that was put into this dear old car some years back I'm OK with Radio 2 . oh, and for some reason Radio Sheppey ( where I live ) ...... maybe the Alpine system has enough sense to pick up summat without further human input 😉 Malc
  17. .... and I've not seen Mackeson Milk Stout for a generation or two ! Malc
  18. at each renewal . with other insurers i might add . Swinton still have it in their diary to contact me for a quote ........ I've given up with them as on each occasion they have been way way too expensive Malc
  19. Sorry about the above ……. Super finger slip As I was saying …… there’s a number of these wonderful cars emerging for sale and expanded ULEZ I’m sure pushed a few to the fore They'll last the next astute owner a lifetime and give immense pleasure and security of safe reliable travel wherever you wish to drive ……. just be careful on ULEZ and if in Europe those cities messing around like some of ours with ULEZ type fees ……. much of Europe help 30 year old ladies avoid those fees Malc
  20. I’m impressed the way these winder
  21. it has from time to time put me into blissful oblivion 😇 Malc
  22. Pixels failing is just NOT a simple question of bulb replacement I’m certain Technical ( soldering ?? ) skills on a workbench / kitchen table are required …….. it’s a Q of finding those people with those rare skills in the UK Where R U ? Come on, help us out PLEASE Malc
  23. It’s not hugely unusual for the MOT Tester to mis-specify the mileage but usually by omission of a digit ……. Say 47512 to 7512 ….. happened to me once a while back Correct the following year ok and as for tyre wear …… mine on a quite heavy V8 4ltr, usually last up to 25k miles on the front and 30k rear ……. Properly balanced, tracking, suspension wear etc and driving style and not throwing the car around makes for improved tyre life surely 🤔 Malc
  24. If there are exhaust leaks causing the issues and those leaks are from the complex mild steel front end …… ( where the Cat is ? ) remember I paid just £360 incl vat a couple of years back for a bespoke quite clever exhaust centre in Maidstone Kent to make afresh the front-end The OEM part is simply no longer available and last knockings was @£700 😰 Hope it’s as simple as that ! Malc
  25. Hoping someone might pop along who's found a recent answer to this age old Ls400 problem I would like mine both sorted too Malc
