  1. Nick hi, I'm back You have lots of helpful and useful info above You're having decided the "right price" for the car gives you your possible upper price to pay ...... if you wanted The lowest price to pay depends on your negotiating skills and remember, your bid can rarely go down. . so go there, drink their coffee and start low ............ maybe 😉 Good luck Malc
  2. Gray thank you for the clarity Had you initially told us the Event was some 40 years ago I think most of would have been astounded ........ no normal insured driver with their own car would have thought about " superchip " anything other than from the Fish and Chip Shop ! Ordinary insured drivers these days are simply aware to advise their insurers of modifications and like me, even I cleared the prior owner's change over from 15" to 16" wheels on my Mk1 Ls400 I don't for one minute believe insurers are prone to avoiding their liabilities in valid situations .. it's surely only when the insured try's to " pull a fast one " will they see red and be challenging AND Personal Injuries Claims are often fraught with simple FRAUD and EXAGERRATION and demonstrable Loss has to be shown often to the Court and their Professionals Malc
  3. Superchip / GoFaster chip or anything evident like that …… it’s inevitable the insurers will investigate further and ameliorate their financial responsibility ……. Surely any rational thinking insured person would understand that caveat limiting liability …… surely 🤔 Malc
  4. But might I ask, what was the purpose of that superchip ? Malc
  5. What happens to old BofE Governors ? Malc
  6. Risk dependent surely …… like my wheels …… zero price change Maybe it depends on the driver risk too 🤔 Malc
  7. “ reasonableness “ surely pertains OEM type / style replacements all ok whatever the make ….. surely changing air to coilovers ask specifically …… that wouldn’t affect the car mode or structure BUT I would ask to clarify Vide My personal issue and insurers tell me it’s OK ……. 16” wheels in substitute for the original 15” on my 91 Ls400 …… hopefully sense prevails but if in doubt simply ask them ! Malc
  8. Would the car look ok with all removed maybe …… then sell the spare 3 🤔 Malc
  9. and a pint of ale for 1/7 pence Malc
  10. Richness is in the eye of the beholder 😄 …… the wealth of a bevy of Ls400s must suffice Malc
  11. Then your cash starting point is £17k ! with no dilution of the dealers legal responsibilities to you for the car when sold Malc
  12. You’re quite correct and I too have decided to plough my surplus monthly max £200 into this Savers Fund ……. I’ll be rich beyond the pale ( or pail 😂) when it matures ……. Enough to buy another Ls400 👍 Malc
  13. The cash is king and your suggested p/ex might be sensible to ignore I would always start very very low ….. Christmas approaches and the dealer wants your cash and to shift that chunk of metal from his stock Your existing car is worth nowt I’m assuming and could be sold for scrap BUT if it’s a problem for you then just give it away ….. it’s presence might sour your cash deal with the dealer What’s the autotrader “value” of your proposed purchase ? Malc
  14. There’ll be a different price for cash or finance and/or a p/ex Where are you coming from with this ? Malc
  15. Who did you use for the battery ? Malc
  16. Nationwide 👍👍👍 THE bank of and for the People I rate them very highly and actually honest and trustworthy ……. wouldn’t be without them …… the rest are well, just the laggards in modern day “ for the people” banking imho There are of course some banks to simply avoid for all sorts of reasons ……. and some that, quite rightly, avoid some dreadful customers too …… indeed Big Bro might be watching YOU …… take care 😂 AND the lower inflation rates are to be commended …… it’s often the currency exchange rates that cause ( me ) some consternation …… and of course the thievery going on with E5 petrol prices for those of us having to run older but “ Green “ cars The petrol thievery not necessarily with Govt taxes but by the vendor supermarkets mainly taking the pi-s from US the captive audience Get those hard prices under control and we might all feel a little less ripped-off and our “ inflation “ in our pockets ameliorated Anyway ….. Nationwide is good to its customers 👍👌👏 Malc
  17. With his p/exd profit it might have cost him 50/60% to put the Sc on his forecourt at that price 🤔 …….. wrong season to be selling a convertible …… and a motor home ! But the dealer has to live 😇 Malc
  18. There’s really nothing in the Lexus repertoire to “ upgrade to “ You’d be spend spend spend and with frustration spend spend spend a shed load more on maintenance and repairs Simply understand and appreciate you’ve already reached the Lexus pinnacle of excellence Malc
  19. A few years ago, at about 220k miles, the seemingly vestigial ( over engineered ) heat shields on my 95 Ls400 had their “ end of life “ and disposed of Now on 247k miles and none the worse for the loss ! You might be as “ lucky “ Malc
  20. Motorhomes are better then 🤣 wonder why they p/exd her 🤫 Malc
  21. Keep her Qamar. 100% keep her Any replacement will become a struggling moneypit coz you won’t be able to stop yourself trying to reach that pinnacle of perceived excellence …….. which you’ve now achieved 👌 Malc
