  1. Winter approaches and convertibles will be gathering dust on dealers forecourts …… who want money not metal to pay their bills ….. There’ll be one soon for you Malc
  2. I’ve noticed a couple of my old cars are still traceable officially too but I know have long ago been scrapped ! Malc
  3. Cars have been stolen for generations and thieves will innovate to overcome whatever obstacles there are …….!and there’s usually an end-buyer here or abroad I’m reading a crime book ( written in 1933 ) of the theft of a 1932 Comet car and the hard-nosed police investigations ….., there was of course murder involved too 👍 Car Crime seems to have always taken place 🥵 where there’s value there’s theft whatever the asset and the steps put in place to try to stop it Its just that car crime seems to be at the lower end of importance in using scarce police resources Even older cars get stolen I'm sure ! Hopefully not mine 🤔 Malc
  4. Of course a jaguar ….. with a tiger in the tank Malc
  5. Noway. Don’t be so ingenious …… a. Quay Malc
  6. The vibes are simply ……. to look after your Ls400, proper servicing and hopefully preventative maintenance …… and to keep to one’s “ simple “ Ls400 and not some more modern complex electronic Lexus wizardry 😰 Malc
  7. You can’t change whatever it is you dislike about politics …… don’t try and you may not have that heart attack …… you’re more useful and productive posting on here 👏 Malc Go get the kebabs then !
  8. I’ll opt out of this ……. as I owned a general car sales business for some years with all sorts ….. and I often drove the unusual too ….. Aston Bentley RR ( that belonged to some erstwhile discredited and now decd celebrity ) Porsche ( not sure which ) Subaru Impreza WRX that had been tweaked to go faster too 👏 and lots more that have escaped me ….,, the Ls400 for some 25 years now, that vibrant modest Wolf in Sheep's Clothing that’s very very fast and quick ….. too much for todays everyday motoring maybe So I’ll opt out of these reminisces …… they were all freebies too except they cost my business lots ££££ 😇 But just remembered I still own and used to drive my 1932 Triumph Southern Cross Sports Tourer ……. a beauty for sure 👌 Malc
  9. Jags have often been beautiful and prestigious luxury comfy powerful cars …… but often rust buckets and moneypits ……. Buy one and you just KNOW the probable financial consequences ……. Buy a sensible Lexus and the word moneypit should be consigned to history I’m thinking you’ll be making the right decisions Malc
  10. MOT today. Clean Pass no Advisories …… 247k miles on my N reg 1995 beauty 😂 5k miles only tho’ since last annual service and MOT The years seem to fly past 😇 Malc
  11. with all that's been said above you might have missed a bit of a bargain ............ Malc
  12. Steve do some pro-active searches on here maybe Id be surprised if you didn’t come across some useful historic advices good luck Malc
  13. Both mine are just “ factory finish “ underside, lived outdoors by the sea and covered some 350k miles in the UK ….. no inkling of anything other than usual acceptable aged weathering Robust usual aged Ls400s though Malc
  14. That’s a spacesaver wheel ? Malc
  15. Guessing the oil still looks very clean ! Don’t think I’d be too concerned if the car runs well I bought, many years ago an aged Mk2 Ls400 with 7462 miles over some 14 ? years ….. she drove well and lasted me several years, some 40k miles with zero troubles …… no prior service records just the regular MOTs ( and a cambelt done sticker at 10 years ) and I doubt the oil and filter had often been changed during its prior life I’d still have it today if not written off sadly 🥵 Make of this what you will ….. the engine in yours could be absolutely fine ….. they’re very robust Good luck Malc
  16. Welcome to this forum Christof I haven't seen any piccy you're referring to ! ........at 18 years young and 69k miles I would be replacing the radiator, assuming it's the correct one ok ..... no point having it just sitting in stock when it's seemingly a relatively simple job to change and you're replacing the original . but keep the old one tho' .. just in case ! . there's 100,000 miles life in the new one ? even if it is Chinese .. they've been making excellent products for some 5000+ years on and off 😉 ATF fluid I really don't know BUT isn't it to simply replenish to a correct level ? and the rest of your Qs there's going to be a few people around to advise Best wishes Malc
  17. with the hood collapsed back into the boot space you do realise there's not quite enough room for a pack of sandwiches don't you 🤫 Malc
  18. Your names not Donald tho’ but equally as kwackers 🤔 trumpety trump trump trump Malc
  19. I'm impressed you can run .......... thought you might be that sitting duck 😂 Malc
  20. JUST NATURALLY RUST FREE FROM BIRTH MAYBE ! Malc
  21. Depreciation in our older cars in an irrelevance ….. it’s those poor earlier owners that have bust the bank on that one ….. and paid for significant maintenance too hopefully Spending £5k further on a £5k car is fine when you’re keeping her and it’s the “ best car ever “ and it’s yours for another 5yrs or so …… effective zero cost with immense reliability ( hopefully ) and safety and COMFORT Your Ls600 is all that and more …… the Bentley might - will become your moneypit I avoided my Bentley and ended up with my two aged but amazing Ls400s …… life can be too short to regret car challenges so just chill on that one and believe happiness is Ls shaped 👍 Malc
