Great to see so many Lexus in The Republic. Importing at the moment for you must also be good because of the weak sterling. -
I have used 'Chemical Guys' blacklight for several years on a number of different cars. easy to apply and gives great beading. lasts well too. after the car is washed I spritz it with 'Chemical Guys Hybrid V70'. People are always commenting on how good my cars look and I am driving them 500 miles every week.

I had what appeared to be minor damage to my IS300h when it was hit on rear offside wheel. There was very little panel damage BUT the entire rear suspension was all knocked slightly out of kilter. It was nearly £6000 damage. Basically the suspension did it's job and absorbed all the kinetic energy of the collision. That is why car needs to be properly checked at a reputable bodyshop.

If you can hang on until October my tyre dealer tells me that Michelin are doing an offer on crossclimates. Basically you prove purchase during the campaign online and they give you a preloaded visa debit card. I'm hoping ot take advantage of this and for 4 tyres it is worth £100. Idid this with my gs at the beginning of the year and got £100 back on a set of primacy 4's Oh and my guy reckons the michelins are the best for SUV now. He has a customer whose done 30,000 miles on a set and apparently 'drives like he stole it'. He advised me to put the primacy 4's on my GS and they were the best tyres I've ever driven on. Car was so quiet after the oe dunlops and braking and handling were vastly improved.

My 2015 ml gs300h had a micro Sd card fitted. There are several threads on here of places to buy them. I bought one from a guy in Ireland on ebay for £70 but am sure a few months ago another cheaper site was suggested. Certainly the card I bought was the latest mapping and worked fine and the serial number registered without problem

Interesting tale. My car had several areas of cosmetic damage which weren't corrected before delivery in June form Derby Lexus. It went to this same garage for smart repair for a week ( My local chipsaway guy who is good told me it needed a bodyshop repair) and was due to be delivered back to me.On the appointed day at lunchtime I had a phone call from the sales manager to say they weren't happy with the work their smart repair guy had done. The car was a further week away and went to Lexus Leicester to the approved body shop who made a very nice job of the repairs. As this was only 3 weeks ago perhaps their Smart repair guy is now wary of what he attempts....... (If it helps the car delivery driver told me that the Leicester Branch has the best bodyshop, they spotted an area for repair on a door handle I hadn't spotted and did it whilst the car was there).

I just had the tracking checked on my RX450h at my usual tyre place in Gloucester. The owner told me that if I was considering putting on Michelin Cross climate Tyres to buy them in October as Michelin will be running their preloaded Visa debit card offer where the purchase of 4 tyres of this size will result in £100 cashback on a preloaded Visa debit card.. Michelin ran this campaign earlier in the year and I got it on a set of primacy 4's for my GS300h.

Cracked Drivers Side Mirror!....Arrrrgghhhh
olliesgrandad replied to jayson's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
That is tragic. My daughter once broke a mirror on a cora and I bought a replacement. Got out of my car and walked towards the house. CRASH it dropped out of the box onto the ground... My sympathies are with you (I have never tampered with a mirror since). -

When i bought my car recently the lexus dealer hadn't prepared it properly .The upshot was the car couldn't be smart repaired (silver and rear of offside rear door) and so it was repaired at Lexus Leicester bodyshop. Damage was a tiny dent on rear o/s door which you could only see in certain light and horizontal scratching in the paint which again was hard to see unless you looked closely and ran a fingernail into it.. They had to paint the side of the car and you would never know it has been near a spraygun. Insist on it going to a Lexus approved bodyshop so you know it will be done right. -

Personally I would bite the bullet, claim and then both vehicles are repaired without there being any hassle in the future. It is amazing how expensive a small amount of damage can be in the wrong area. A scuff on the front bumper and broken fixing clip on my wife's Fiat 500 was almost 2 grand because it was 3 coat pearlescent white paint. The cost of the paint was£400 alone. They did replace the front panel because he said that once it has flexed and stressed the micro crazing might cause problems a couple of years later if repainted. That was claimed on insurance and her premium has remained the same. -
IS got side swiped!

That's interesting because Lexus dealers in my experience don't use lexus approved bodyshops when they prepare cars for resale. -
Help Required (IS300H)
olliesgrandad replied to Adrian 300H's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
I'm sure I've read somewhere a while back (probably on this forum) of someone replacing a knob on an early is300h with the later version which I think is metal rather than plastic. This would suggest the knob may be available as a single part -
I think the is 300h f sport has different foam in the seats I seem to remember they used the same foam as the defunct supercar, likewise the fancy sliding dashboard dials. Perhaps the other f sport models have a more compliant foam. Back in the dark ages I had a mj1 golf GTI. My father had a limited edition VX with GTI shaped seats. My seats were fine, but his were like sitting on a board because the foam was harder.

I think the RX seats are particularly good ( i'm comparing 2014 IS300h f sport/ GS 300h luxury 2015 and the 2018 CT200h I drove for 1400 miles in 2 weeks). Certainly i would consider very carefully whether another f sport model wouldsuit me

I have realised that the centre console box on my RX appears to be chilled by the aircon. my 8 year old grandson also realised this when he tried to 'acquire' a 31 coin stored there and found it so shockingly cold he dropped it'. Presumably there is no way of controlling the flow of chilled air into it? I know on Mercedes with chilled gloveboxes there was a 'hit and miss' rotating shutter to switch the flow on or off. Still its jolly useful in this hot weather

Driving up the M5 this afternoon. craaack -windscreen chipped! 13 days ago I had a cracked windscreen in a courtesy CT200h (which left me £400 poorer). Now today I get a chip in the screen of my own RX. Fortunately it is low down on the passenger side and my insurer has no excess for glass. Got it booked for repair on Wednesday so hopefully it will not travel any further before then

back door plastic panel
olliesgrandad replied to Heanorboy's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
That could be smart repaired and retextured . My RX arrived with a hole and several large cuts in the rear black underbumper. They had it smart repaired and it now looks original
