Considering RX450h
olliesgrandad replied to Shiner's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
£26000 should get you a nice late series 3 advance spec car. I Paid £26600 for my 15 plate advance with 26000 miles. So my car was one of the last. Good hunting. -
Considering RX450h
olliesgrandad replied to Shiner's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
What is your budget? There are plenty of cars out there just a case of finding the right one. Full service history is important and you need to check that it has up to date hybrid health check documentation (Hybrid batteries are then warranted for 10 years). Avoid cars with air suspension as otheer folks here report unreliability. F Sport have firmer ride so if considerin . Advance spec (I have one) are luxury spec plus excellent LED headlights, pan or sunroof and post 2014 cars have ML sound system as standard. I have done 11,000 miles in 4 months and averaged 34mpg tankful to tankful. Lexus warranty I would say is a must for peace of mind. -
Common with so many modern cars. 2014 mini was awful and my 2012 e class Mercedes cabriolet used to every 6 weeks or so drip water onto my arm when driving. The only way to stop it was to pull over and open and close the roof. Not to be recommended in a storm. So many frame less windows on cars also drip when they window closes after shutting the door. Not like the good old days when the foot wells filled with water...

I understand that the new mot checks that the dpf is fitted and function. I know that many taxi drivers are going to be buying and fitting dpfs to Toyota Avensis now

Is200t 2016 or IS300H
olliesgrandad replied to cadman2k's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Can't comment on the IS200T but having owned a 2014 300h f Sport I would certainly buy another if I were in the market for that size saloon. Don't know what the VEL is on the 200T, but think it was either £20 or £30 for the 300h. I like the cvt gearbox , but you may prefer a conventional auto. I had excellent fuel consumption details of which were recorded in my posts here. -
Potential purchase

Having owned one make sure you get a good test drive as the f sport seats are quite firm. The car is certainly all the money. At that price you would get a very nice GS of the same age. Having owned both and looking to pay that money the GS is a much better finished and comfortable car. Fuel economy on both is similar. If you want the firm ride and space age dash then they are a great car. When I purchased my 2014 f sport in October 2015 I paid around £21000 for it with around 15000 miles. Celestial black with Ml and previously owned by Geoff Hurst, so this one is pricey. I drive 500 miles a week and the is 300h gives good economy and performance. Look for my posts here for fuel consumption. Good hunting -
I've just bought 4 crossclimates for my RX450h. They are absolutely superb and buying now you get a£100 back from Michelin on a prepaid visa card. I Paid £700 so effectively the 4 will have cost me £600. They are extremely quiet and have transformed the ride of the car. Beauty is that you run on them all year. When you are running such a big expensive car it is false economy to skimp on tyres that will help protect your family in bad weai.

I've just fitted Michelin Cross Climates yesterday. Have covered 100 miles this morning and they ride and grip extremely well. My tyre guy told me to wait until now as Michelin are doing an offer of a preloaded visa card refund. In my case because of my 19 inch wheels it equates to a hundred pounds. Tyres were £700 for 4 fitted. Be aware they are on back order but the offer runs into November.

4 Michelin Cross climates fitted today at cost of £700. got the Michelin refund deal and as the tyres are 19 inch that means a preloaded Visa Card with £100 credit. Car is totally transformed and all rumbling has disappeared so clearly was a tyre issue. Will report further on their performance when i've done a few miles on them.

I've religiously avoided diamond cut wheels because of worrying about lacquer issues. Sadly every manufacturer seems currently to feel the need to fit them. The only other car I had them on was a 2012 fiat punto, but I bought it 9 months old with 1500 miles and sold it for an Alfa 9 months later with 20000 +miles on it. Very little depreciation too. No wheel issues either.
-
My wheels are diamond cut and I am pretty certain haven't been refurbished. The corrosion is isolated to bubbling around the centre caps and appears to be emanating from the wheel hub rather than externally. Was suggested wheels may have been damaged when new tyres fitted and wheels balanced. This theory is unlikely though as the rear tyres are the original Japanese Dunlops. I'm waiting to hear back from Derby. They asked me for pictures but I referred them to the case number at Lexus UK who have pictures already supplied by Cheltenham.
-
I think that the issue is the car wasn't properly prepared for sale and you don't expect a car 3 months out of warranty to have wheel corrosion (especially one that cost £50k new). Lets face it my wife's £12k fiat 500 has perfect alloys. The other crazy thing is that if I'd spent less on a Toyota it would still be under warranty for another 18 months. Oh Cheltenham Lexus reckon £120 corner plus vat to refurbish properly...

I recently noticed that all 4 of my wheels had signs of corrosion (lacquer bubbling) around the centre caps . When the car was serviced in Cheltenham last week they photographed the damage and presented a case to Lexus for rectification. Today I was informed that Lexus UK decided that as I only bought the car in June that the supplying dealer (Derby) should have rectified the wheels before sale. I spoke Lexus UK myself and they confirmed that the wheels should have been sorted before sale and that the issue should be directed to the retail. They transferred my call to Derby who are going to decide on a course of action. I wonder if anyone else here has an issue with wheels on such a new car.

Well my 2014 mini Cooper had a complete steering rack replacement at around 12000 miles and 4 months old.. Interestingly when my 2015 GS got to around 30,000 miles twice when under heavy braking I heard a slight click and felt the steering wheel move forwards a millimetre or so. Never got investigated as sold the car a few months later

Now on my third Lexus in 2 years and 60000 miles I first wonder if you have watched the Lexus video on YouTube on how to drive a Hybrid. That being said I've heard that consumption is not too clever with the NX. I used to get 44mpg all day long with my 2015 GS 300h. That said I've averaged a genuine 34mpg in 10000 miles with my 2015 RX450h. One last hint don't drive in eco mode except for congested roads where you are constantly accelerating and braking. I quickly learnt that you get better economy in normal mode.
