olliesgrandad replied to MartinLexus's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Having owned both IS300h and GS300h and covered several thousand mes in CT200h I will stick with the RX as it is the ideal compromise between comfort, performance and practicality -
Has anyone moved to Lexus from BMW ?
olliesgrandad replied to stevegant's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
I had an f sport IS300h and can confirm wheels are not diamond cut and had no problems with them -
Car is 10 years old. If the rust at top of the windscreen is coming from behind and not surface it's worth checking if it is covered under the anti perforation warranty as a repair in that area could be very expensive as the windscreen will possibly need to be removed /replaced. Also rust there may affect structural integrity of car.

Sat Nav Question

Think it indicates where you have previously driven, but I tend to use my tomtom live as the traffic prediction is better. -
Gen 3 2015 seats
olliesgrandad replied to Tyke's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
No advice sorry on F sport as having owned an IS300h f sport I avoided it as The seats in that I found overly firm for my back. The seats in my Advance are superb. Many years ago I bought a new end of line mk1 Golf GTi. The seats were great. My father bought a special edition GX version with the same design of seat. They were incredibly hard an uncomfortable. The reason was that the seat foam was supplied by a different company. Makes you wonder if you need to try individual vehicles. -
Poor MPG on a new is300h
olliesgrandad replied to Ishay's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
On my third Lexus hybrid and rarely use eV mode or eco mode. I get a genuine tank to tank range of between 30 and 34mpg. When I had an IS300h f sport I got 45mpg all day long. Watch the Lexus YouTube video on driving a hybrid. Some useful tips there.- 38 replies

Squeaky noise when opening window
olliesgrandad replied to Carter's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Gummi phlege is the stuff to use. BMW and Audi use it as 'the go to' window and door seal lubricant. -
Car was fine now will not lock/unlock or start
olliesgrandad replied to FountainP's topic in Lexus General Maintenance
If no dash lights then sounds like battery. Modern batteries can suddenly fail with the onset of cold weather as they do so much work. If the battery is original then it probably needs replacing at over 5 years old. -

So pleased you have found the right car. Took mine down to Exmoor yesterday and enjoyed a wonderful drive across the foggy moors to Hunters Inn for lunch -

Nice looking car and I went for ivory interior which looks great. I put a set of genuine Lexus ivory rubber floor mats in mine which makes it sooh east to clean. The only issue is keeping the black looking smart. My IS300h f sport in celestial black was a labour of love... -

I had a phone call from Lexus Derby yesterday requesting pictures of my wheels so they can open a case with Lexus UK. Took these this morning. -

I had a 2015 GS 300h luxury before my RX450h. The RX is extremely manoeuvrable apart from the lock being poor compared to rwd. There is plenty of headroom with the blind in place on the pan roof. I am 6feet tall and even with seat set on high it is fine. -
Any LOC members work in Planning?
olliesgrandad replied to steve2006's topic in Lexus Owners Club Lounge
Apply for information under the freedom of information act. Make sure you ask specific questions that evasive answers cannot be given as a response. Response time is 20 days. Do it by email to ensure a clear audit trail. A few years ago a senior executive in a Government Department denied receiving an email from me. Unfortunately I got a data protection enquiry done and she had to admit she had received it. Cost her organisation a lot of money in compensation. -
Lexus Cambridge didn't want to give discount

Cheltenham Lexus have been very good with discount on service and I've scored majorly by being a gold member. -
Strange I just finished reading this article when my wife decided that a large armchair needed to be taken to the recycling centre( 40 minutes before closing) It only just fitted through the tailgate opening, but as it had to be lifted sideways at an angle through the doorways in our bungalow I wasn't surprised. Great car for the job.

I had them on a BMW Z3 2.8 some years ago. Great grip but wore quite quickly or was it the way it got driven? 😊

When you find an Advance please check the wheels. My car is suffering from spots of corrosion coming out around the centre caps on all 4 wheels. As my car was registered in March 2015 this is pretty annoying. When the car was serviced locally a month ago Cheltenham Lexus put a claim into Lexus UK but they said because I had only owned the car for 3 months the supplying dealer should have spotted the issue and rectified it under Approved Car Scheme. The supplying dealer has maintained the car from new and knows that the wheels are unrepaired and factory finished. They are currently deciding the way forward and supposed to be coming back to me next week. -

£26000 should get you a nice late series 3 advance spec car. I Paid £26600 for my 15 plate advance with 26000 miles. So my car was one of the last. Good hunting. -
Fancy a rx450h
olliesgrandad replied to oldhazey's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
Toyota have had so much experience with Hybrid powertrains and they are renowned for reliability. Checking that the car has been properly serviced and has had recommended hybrid health checks makes common sense. The big service is 60,000 miles when plugs are changed so that is worth accounting for. I have stuck 11,00 miles onto mine since June and it runs beautifully. The only issue is that I am waiting for Lexus to sort out my lacquer coated alloy wheels which are corroding around the wheel centre caps, so if you choose and Advance model check that.
