  1. Rather than your solution I would guess that the window seals may have hardened. When I had convertibles I used a product called gummi phledge. This is a liquid which softens hardened rubber seals to stop noise and ensure better seal. It does not harm the seals but causes the rubber to soften so it returns eits original profile. It is something I know that BMW use. I believe it is available from Amazon. I have used it successfully to stop leaks between convertible hoods and windows on both BMW and Mercedes. It may be a cost effective option
  2. If you have a rumble sounding like a worn wheel bearing its guaranteed it will be be the rear Dunlops which are according to my service advisor known for wearing in a 'stepped' way although with plenty of tread. My car had the noise which increased gradually untiltI changed the tyres at 35,000 miles.
  3. I am sure you will enjoy it a lot 👍
  4. In 2014 I bought a 9 month old ex demo Mini Cooper Clubman John Cooper Works with 1500 miles. The dealer needed to shift it and I paid £5000 less for it than it was advertised for the previous week. Less than a base model demo my locaI dealer was selling. I drove it for 20000 miles and 9 months and sold it for £650 more than I paid for it (bought at end of quarter in December picked up in January).
  5. Be very interested to see if redex sorts the problem.
  6. Interestingly we have a similar situation to the Toye/Lexus warranty difference. Hyundai and Kia are owned by the same Company, so why the difference in warranty?
  7. Surprised they didn't suggest replacing it, if they have identified the issue especially as the car is under warranty.
  8. Is the misfire occurring under load - appreciate it might be difficult to decide with the hybrid? Could be a plug or even a plug lead. In the olden days when copper plug leads were replaced with surpressed carbon it was common for them to break down under load. Wonder why the dealer suspected an injector - have they encountered it before and how did they identify which one? If it was a plug or lead I would have thought it more likely to have given problems when hot, in the old days coils would do that.
  9. Quite interesting that you use BP exclusively. When I was running the dirty diesels I thought that they never ran very well on BP. I tend to use whatever is best value at the time. In my previous IS 300h and my GS300h I tended use either Texaco or Shell. Since I bought my 3RX I have been using a mixture of branded fuel and supermarket fuel. Certainly I haven't noticed any difference in performance or economy, but of course the RX has a lot more power than the 4 cylinders and my car is always running hot.
  10. Out of interest what fuel do you normally use?
  11. 170 miles today confirms that the seats are wonderful. 😊
  12. I fully intended to change my 2015 GS for an NX but 10 miles into a test drive in a luxury spec car the ride and my aching back decided otherwise. I drove the RX with some trepidation expecting a repeat performance. Wow what a pleasant surprise the test drive was. It is the most comfortable car ive ever owned apart from a 1990 Mercedes 300ce.
  13. Just find a touch up that is a close match. I have a box full of touch up pencils collected over the years so usually find something to match. It is surprising how with a bit of patience you can lose the repair using a fine artists brush. A cheap set of artists brushes from somewhere like 'The Works' is a good shout.
  14. Loving the colour
  15. Michelin claim the cross Climates will do 11000 more miles than the rivals. My tyre guy says a customer on cross Climates has done over 30000 miles on a set and he drives his car like he stole it.
  16. I understood that Approved Lexus had to have tyres with a minimum tread depth whieI thought was 3.5mm. As to tyres, I am running on Michelin Cross Climates which are superb.
  17. Sounds like a long handled brush and some meguirs all purpose cleaner might reveal the truth but it certainly looks suspect. In 1990 I bought a new Vauxhall Cavalier Sri in white. About 6 weeks later I noticed some brown stains around tailgate sealant. Car went to dealers bodyshop and repaired Couple of months later I noticed some more stains in other body seams. Factory engineer attended and car again repaired. 7 months from new I noticed nearly every visible body seam was leaching a brown stain. Vauxhall took the car back to the factory and over a 3 month period reshelled the car. I was concerned about the vin number, but because it was a factory rebuild they put the original vin on the car. They lent me a brand new Cavalier CDi for the duration of the repair. My car was better new when it came back as they had a team in the factory who hand rebuilt vehicles under warranty. When I purchased a New Corsa for my wife a few months later Vauxhall gave me an enhanced deal for returning as a customer sotI was very happy with the customer service. Hopefully you will get your issue resolved satisfactorily.
  18. I too have driven larger vehicles with no aids in the past (Police riot personnel carriers) which had extremely limited forward visibility when driving with the steel mesh over the windscreen and again needing to reverse on mirrors. BUT I wasn't parking in a supermarket parking bay where the length and width of the vehicle will only just fit in if you want room to exit or in a tight on street car parking space. To me that technology makes everyday driving so much easier. There are other features that I have had which are a downright menace. Self parking sounds interesting until the car goes in at an angle I wouldn't attempt and then aborts the manoeuvre once the car is wedged in between 2 other cars and the kerb!!
  19. For many years I used to buy new cars. I then realised it made sense to buy relatively new used. A £26000 loss on a 3 year old Audi A4 Quattro in 2001 made me see light. My £250 private plate bought from Dvla in 2001 hides the age and often the plate has been on a current model. With my high mileage a new lexus would be out of warranty before 3 years because of mileage.
  20. Cameras and parking sensors are a must have on a larger vehicle with so mane blind spots when manoeuvring. However some of the other fitments are more like toys eg coloured interior mood light ala BMW Mini. Spare wheel - fortunately my RX has one but rest assured I won't be changing any wheels.
  21. Crikey your CT200 is barely run in at that mileage. Can you not keep it and get an extended warranty. If necessary get a personal loan to clear the finance?
  22. Great write up and a sound guide to buying a fantastic premium product for the price of a new mainstream vehicle. Yes fuel consumption doesn't seem wonderful, but the reality is that not that many years ago 1.3 engined cars struggled to get similar economy figures. I endorse everything said about modern Mercedes. The build quality of the cars are nothing special and the dealership experience leaves much to be desired.
  23. I'm sure you notice a big improvement by putting a decent set of tyres on. I certainly did.
  24. I would just put a decent set of tyres on to start with. I'm now running Michelin Cross Climates which have transformed the car and I drive 500 miles a week.
  25. Some tyres wear in a stepped way (Dunlops for sure) and this gives a droning noise like a worn wheel bearing.
