  1. Realised today that a flying stone sometime this week has 'bullet holed' and cracked my front grill badge. Are they easy to replace or is this better left to the dealer. i'm sure it will be expensive .
  2. IS300h is low tax when I owned my 2014 f sport it was only £20 or £30. Very economical easily achieve 40mpg or Better. You haven't mentioned price. Is it for sale at Lexus Dealer? Lexus extended warranty gives you great peace of mind. Some owners here have mentioned corrosion on front offside chassis rail - Read the thread so you can check before purchase. Hybrid health check certificate warrants the traction batteries for 15 years now.
  3. Try an RX. I wanted an NX but 10 miles into a test drive my back hurt and the car didn't go as well as my GS300h. The series 3 RX I bought is averaging between 32 and 36mpg tankful to tankful. I drive 500 miles a week and always have plenty of go for overtaking without using sport.
  4. Just a thought - are you sure that the towbar is factory fitted in Japan and not fitted before going to the dealer in the UK. I mention this because living in Gloucestershire I know that a lot of modifications are carried out at Mitsubishi HQ in Cirencester before the cars go to the dealerships. Wonder if it's the same with Toyota vehicles. If that's the case then might be prudent to get dealer fitment
  5. Currently my local Tesco has Redex at half price £2.
  6. Some years ago i did some work for Honda R&D department. They wanted additional work doing on the job (nearly £4,000 worth) and the additional materials came to £14 . The extra labour was £500 which was authorised at Swindon BUT the £14 for materials (some polythene bags) had to be authorised in Japan .......
  7. If you are considering an NX it is vital that you drive the actual car you are considering buying. I tried one and after 10 miles aborted the test drive because it hurt my back so much. My Advance RX has panoramic fixed roof and headroom for me at 6 feet tall is not an issue (unlike my wife's 2015 Fiat 500)
  8. I went to Chantmarle for my continuation course in 1975. Building I recollect is supposed to be well haunted. I did my initial course at RAF Dishforth as Chantmarle was full. A long trip from Gloucestershire in the winter for 10 weeks in those days 😬
  9. If this is the same Newby Hall in North Yorkshire that used to be a Police Training facility I vividly remember some pti trying to drown me in the swimming pool early in the morning under the pretext of teaching me lifesaving in 1974.
  10. Yes I would buy Lexus again because having owned the German brands they are streets behind on customer service, build quality and reliability.
  11. Yes that is a radiator. Keeps the chill off and the wife's pet Fiat nicely aired. 😎
  12. Advance is basically Luxury spec with led headlights, Mark Levinson sound system plus panoramic fixed roof or sunroof. Also has different wheels which are lacquered. If you buy an Advance check the lacquer coating on the wheels. Lexus just refurbed my wheels as a goodwill gesture. See if you can get a longer warranty factored into the deal. My car is a 2015 and unbelievably comfortable. I have just bought another 2 years Lexus Warranty which is well worth the cost.
  13. Everything now back in the garage 😊
  14. Haven't made the upgrade but my 2015 RX450h currently is averaging 35mpg tankful to tankful so considerably better than 25mpg. I do around 500 miles a week both motorway and b road.
  15. If the running costs suit your pocket then a used LC500 would be my choice as I'm sure if you didn't you'd always wonder.... When young I had the choice of a basic Golf GTI mk 1 or the new to be launched Astra GTE. Because of cost I ordered the Astra and then the dealer failed to deliver as promised. Cancelled and was fortunate enough to land the extremely rare run out Golf GTI Campaign model ( only 1000 cars imported and mine was Lllahsa Green arguably the best colour).. The ultimate Mk1 Golf GTI which today are fetching silly money and being faked. Sometimes the heart has to rule.
  16. No it isn't an issue as far as I understand it, the 4wd system is different to a conventional system having the 2 separate electric motors.
  17. To quote Clarkson 'Everyone should own an Alfa once in their life'. Having done it I must say that I have a soft spot for them. Had a Mito for about 10 months and 25000 miles. Very reliable little car. Guilia looks fabulous. Enjoy.
  18. Interesting that you use eco mode as I was advised to drive in normal mode when aI had my IS300h. I have tried a mixture of normal and eco modes with the 3 hybrids I have owned over 60000 miles and reckon using the normal mode on all of them gets betttmpg. I have been in a loan 68 plate CT200 for 10 days and that was showing between 54 and 56 mpg so am very surprised at the UX consumption. I found the the Lexus Hybrid driving technique video on YouTube very useful.
  19. Saw a nice blue one in Cole Avenue Gloucester last evening. Looked great
  20. Travelling often pays dividends. The furthest distance for me was over 400 miles, but the dealer did drive it to their local branch (Carlisle to Bristol). Strangely the car had previously lived in London.
  21. Definitely depends which branch and who serves you. On one occasion the lady who was unaware of the scheme used the bar code from another offer (Kidderminster). Cheltenham was hard and difficult but eventually sorted. Telford Halfords I had absolutely no problem and the same at Gloucester.
  22. I owned a 2014 f sport and got low 40s generally. Recently I had a 2018 loan car which I drove for 1000 miles and that was much better on fuel into the low 50s so this would suggest the later cars have improved mpg.
  23. Well it arrived today. Like all these things not without incident if I'm involved. Luckily 2 brilliant guys delivered it. First probletwhen unpacked was that the base was scrap as the forklift in the warehouse had crushed one lower corner beyond redemption. 1 1/2 hours later new base arrived. Men had kindly fixed the wheels on to move it easily. It is MEGA HEAVY. Having greased their palms with good old spondooliks, they agreed to help fit the top cupboards. WARNING THIS IS A 3 MAN Job. An hour of graft and job was a good un. Don't think that this is a click and collect item unless you have a wagon with a tail lift. It was assembled in my car port and only just squeezed through the height of the garage door. Fabulous quality for the price and looks great.
  24. Sound advice Colin. This is the same with most dealers. Buying an ex demo mini on 30th December resulted in me getting the price down from the previous weeks at another garage in the group from £19995 to £14400 with the best trade in I had been offered. So good that after 20000 miles I got £650 more than I paid for it. Cars also tend generally to be cheaper in the Midlands and North. I've had 2 great deals on nearly new cars in Leicester.
