  1. Don't forget if you are a gold member here Lexus some Lexus dealers will give you a discount on all servicing and repairs. When it comes to a big service this is a lot of money. Don't get the plugs done elsewhere as you have the extended warranty which is one of the best available.
  2. That sounds extremely reasonable to be honest. I would have thought in the region of £1000 at least. Looks to me like there is a slight crease in the grill panel. Why wouldn't you want it properly repaired? The extended warranty wouldn't pay for component failure due to collision damage.
  3. The RX450h has a CVT gearbox which as far as I'm aware doesn't use a conventional torque converter.
  4. Only one experience of snow since I had my RX450h. No problem, but I am running on the fabulous Michelin Cross Climates.
  5. I would avoid the PHEV like the plague unless you have very deep pockets. An acquaintance has a family member working at Mitsubishi HQ in Cirencester and has a PHEV company car. Fantastic when running electric but low 20s mpg when running on diesel (eg most of the time). Sadly most manufacturers these days are only interested in young people with PCPs. I had a really bad experience with BMW in 2015 with a brand new Mini. Numerous issues including a breakdown and bodywork damage caused by recovery on a car less than 6 months old. Active cruise control that randomly decided on an empty motorway that I was going to collide head on with nothing and so slammed on the brakes ( no fault codes - well there wouldn't be would there as the computer believed false information from the camera) , self parking that put the car in at a strange angle before deciding to abort the manoeuvre leaving me struggling to extricate the car. Auto headlights that reflected on a bridge , dipping on a pitch black Yorkshire Moor and nearly putting me off the road. Oh and let's not forget the computer telling me that the car had a starting fault and to be recovered so I drove it 2 miles home when in reality it required a complete new steering assembly which was not available in the UK for nearly 2 week's. Customer care was zero with no one admitting they had ripped away the wheel arch cover from the wing tearing it. BMW customer service department were hopeless, their recovery company and the dealer both denying causing the damage yet clearly the strap from the trailer had caused the damage. In the end the service manager at the dealer picked up on the issue and sorted it. The part cost £120 and it took 20 minutes to fix, but they lost a customer who had purchased 2 BMW brand vehicles in a 10 month period .
  6. At the end of the day the dealer who sold you the car is responsible in law if the goods are faulty. I know you are not local but pressurising them may be the best option. We have already shown you that the vehicle does not comply with the 'Approved Lexus' criteria. On the basis that you have not been supplied with previous keeper details or a service history the car may have been a daily rental car or have been 'clocked'. Sorry to be pushy but a trail of emails to the seller asking these questions and copying in Lexus HO may give you an inroad into getting it fixed. I'm sure if Lexus didn't own the car and you have been misled someone will soon pick up on it.
  7. A set of Cross Climates will transform it. Mine came with Dunlops and whentI put cross Climates on it transformed the car, methinks ideal for Scotland. I've just had a week on the North Yorkshire Moors and car performed beautifully.
  8. Alan please read the warranty book as if there is no full there has to be an auditable record to confirm a big service was done. I would certainly contact Lexus customer service.
  9. I certainly would be jumping all over the selling dealer to supply a properly stamped service history book. Please read the Big ring binder which lists all the components of an approved used Lexus and it specifically states that the vehicle must have an up to date service record showing it has been fully serviced by Lexus qualified technicians and evidenced by appropriate Lexus Centre Stamps and signature in the service log book. If it has an incomplete history then to qualify as an approved Lexus the supplying dealer must complete the most recent major service and update the record book.
  10. I had my first Mercedes in 1991. My local dealer was ousted by MB and replaced with Sytner. The service manager Robin Lamb set up his own service garage and since then whenever I have owned Mercedes he has done the servicing. My last one was a 2012 E250 cabriolet. Both Steve Winwood and Richard Ashcroft use him rather than the Main Dealer. What he doesn't know about W124 Mercedes could be written on the back of a stamp 👍
  11. E320 W124 cabriolet. A proper Mercedes. In 2000 I bought a 1990 E300ce with only 10000 dry miles. What a beautiful car. Foolishly sold it 6 years later for a 2. 8 Z3.
  12. It's in the Google app store. When you load it I recall it asks for certain details to verify the vehicle. It then shows everything ever done to the car by a Lexus dealership. The app is the one called 'My Lexus'.
  13. Hi Alan. Have you got the car on the 'My Lexus' app. That should show all work carried out on the car especially if it belonged to Lexus. I know that due to the latest data protection laws the previous keeper no longer shows on V5c and that those details will not be in the service book(My car came with a fully stamped replacement.) I am sure that if it belonged to the importer they would confirm that. Have you googled the reg number. Interesting what that can bring back. If Lexus themselves used it. Was it a press loan car perhaps? What does the supplying dealer say about this issue as they sold you the car. My car I bought unseen based on description of condition which wasn't correct as the car hadn't been cosmetically prepared to Lexus standards and they had it back for 2 weeks for paintwork rectification. They collected and returned it with a round trip of about 250 miles...
  14. That's really good. Like to see the tank to tank figures.
  15. From your previous messages do I gather you bought the car used. If so it sounds likely the issue was already there. Which dealer supplied the car? When I had my wheel issue Cheltenham tried to claim and Lexus Warranty insisted I went through Derby who supplied it. Eventually after Lexus Warranty rejected the claim Lexus Customer Service sorted it. Think you may have to pressurise the garage you bought it from. Is there any sign of accident repairs which might have put something out of alignment?
  16. Cross Climates certainly do the business for ride comfort and grip. Much better than the factory fit Dunlops on my last 2 Lexus
  17. Cheltenham Lexus are usually very helpful. Have you taken someone from there out in the car and replicated the problem?
  18. They're far too reliable for that 👍👍👍
  19. RX 450H in its native habitat 😂😂😂
  20. Think I'd pass on this idea with a glass moonroof😅
  21. Met a guy in North Yorkshire today who was driving a May 2018 NX. He asked me about my RX and commented how bumpy the ride was in his NX. I told him I got around 36mpg in the summer and he commented that was about his mpg. Definitely makes me glad I went RX despite its lack of beauty.
  22. I would just use decent leather cleaner on the seats and avoid covers, especially as modern cars are full of airbags and you could prevent correct deployment of the them in an accident.
