  1. I am pleased to say that the history of my car has now appeared in the Lexus Link App. 😁
  2. Having now looked at other listings definitely dodgy as email addresses vary and in last couple of minutes they've put up an unavailable to view message on some of the vehicles
  3. That reg is now on a Tesla. So probably wants to move it on quickly.
  4. I bought it about 12 years ago for detailing car paintwork as you know exactly how thick the paint is before you cut through to the primer with a polishing machine which is going to cost a lot to repair. Magnet can't do that especially on aluminium panels 🤔
  5. I own one. It is an electronic device. Mine is called 'Paint Detective' and placing the tip of it on a metal panel gives you a reading of the paint thickness in microns. Where there is filler the reading will be very high. With very skilled painters out there it is a good way of helping spot accident repairs.
  6. Pearlescent white is my favourite colour. Looks Great on the CT.
  7. More importantly the end of September is end of quarter for most car dealers so the last couple of weeks is when you will have the best bargaining power. I did this 4 years ago with a 1500 miles ex demo car in December and saved £6000 over the previous weeks price because it had been in stock for 90 days. I put 20000 miles on it and traded it for more than I bought it for.
  8. My phone app tells me my average mpg over 20110 miles is 33.19mpg. I normally refuel at 1/4 tank which is around 350 miles.
  9. Not fitted as far as I'm aware (I'd love to be proved wrong).
  10. Take a look perhaps at the Toyota range.or given the man's height take a look perhaps at a Ford Fusion. Nicely spacious, cheap to run. Ran a couple of them a few years ago and certainly nice and spacious and reliable. At that time they were unfashionable and cheaper than a Fiesta but people cottoned on to this and prices firmed up. Just looked at a 20000 mile 2012 nice spec 1.4 petrol at £4695
  11. When many moons ago I was in the police you could leave the car parked and running with key removed to stop the battery going flat with all the blue lights on, but as soon as you touched the clutch pedal the car stalled and wouldn't restart without the 🗝️. Just a shame about the cars overheating 😂
  12. I know that my 1997 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro had a switching mechanism to allow use of 95 RON fuel because it was designed to only use 98RON fuel. The same applied to my 1999 BMW Z3 2.8. With the BMW I ran low on fuel in darkest Devon and had to refuel with Texaco 95 RON petrol. The car didn't like it at all and idled unevenly and the drop in performance was very noticeable until I managed to refuel with super unleaded.
  13. Agree that diesel cars definitely don't like the supermarket fuel. My last 2 Mercedes didn't. As for petrol, it's not in my tank for more than 3 or 4 days 😂
  14. I always look at a seller's history. This appears to be the only expensive item they have sold. Certainly I had my ebay account compromised some years ago and the crooks were trying to buy boats and cars in Australia..
  15. Use a mixture of supermarket and branded fuel. Occasionally stick some Redex ii. I always used to use branded fuel, but the RX450h has so much power I haven't bothered. Mind my cars usually running hot as a minimum journey is around 25 miles and several times a week 160+ a day with lots of A roads and motorway. I never had dpf or egr problems with any of my diesels because of the mileage they were doing,
  16. Have you considered Michelin. Primacy 4's are very good if available in your sizes. Had them on a GS300h and they were both quiet and grippy in both wet and dry with good wear characteristics
  17. Please hurry up and post pics. Sounds like a really nice car and I love the shape of that model
  18. If it seems too good to be true it is..
  19. Try chemical guys blackllight nano protectant and then spritz with their hypno v70 after washing to enhance the gloss. Saves loads of time and effort and looks great all year round especially in heavy rain when the water just rolls off 💦💦
  20. My first 2013 Mini Clubman diesel bought as ex demo with 1,500 miles was great, no problems in 20000 miles in 9 months. Its successor the new model diesel bought brand new to order was dreadful, clearly underdeveloped. Fuel consumption was awful compared to the previous car. Numerous trips to the dealer for software updates a total steering failure at 6 months old resulting in the BMW recovery service damaging the bodywork and causing electronic mayhem because they didn't disarm the pre crash system before dragging it on a spectacle lift for 100miles.No parts available in the UK so car off road for 2 weeks. I'm sure your 2004 car is great, but I wonder if you owned the latest model if it would be so good....
  21. My unit was replaced under the extended warranty by Cheltenham Lexus. The camera was slower to load than on other Lexus I have owned. Their view was' our technician thinks the unit should be changed so Lexus have already authorised the repair.' Took about a week for the part as it had to come from Japan. Apparently the unit itself is around £1800 plus labour.
  22. Having owned 2 Mercedes before my first Lexus I am in no rush to return. Before the Mercedes I had 2 minis. The last one I bought new at the end of 2014 and it was gone 6 months later. Why? Because BMW customer service is abyssmal and the product quality and development poor. Likewise getting a service or warranty work booked with Mercedes is a nightmare. I drive around 30000 miles a year and I don't want to wait a month to get a service or repair because the dealers have insufficient technicians. The reliability and dealer service of the Lexus network is hard to beat. If you don't want another similar Lexus have you considered a high spec Toyota, perhaps the new RAV4..
  23. I had my front discs and pads changed at 50000 miles. The discs so were at 32mm (I'm told 31 is absolute minimum) so the discs were the wear issue and the pads at 4mm. I was pleased with that as when I bought the car at 26000 miles there was quite a noticeable step in the edge of the discs.
  24. If the car is on the road it is an offence known as 'Quitting'. Offence code: RC86011 Offence wording: Leave motor vehicle on a road not attended by person licensed to drive it engine not stopped / parking brake set Contrary to regulation 107(1) of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986, section 42 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988. If the car is on private premises not an issue, but I don't think it does the car a lot of good sitting idling.
  25. We still don't know the outcome of the original thread about the Lexus that thought it was a ship..
