Firstly is the dealer warranty a Lexus warranty. That is what you need, it is first class and can be extended for a reasonable cost. Check it out Bank loans can be really cheap at the moment, so check that out. IS300h are extremely reliable. Water pump weeping is a common Toyota issue. I had one changed on my GS300h under Warranty, but was told otherwise it is a £300 job. I have owned both IS300h and GS300h and with the miles you are doing I would try both. If anything my 2015 GS300h was more economical than my 2014 IS300h F sport. Both are good reliable cars and unlikely to give problems even at starship mileage. Check the bodywork carefully. Lexus approved cars should be tip top, but the dealers try and get away with slapdash preparation, out of 4 cars purchased in 3 years from 2 different Maindealers 3 of them have required cosmetic body repairs. Don't forget 31st December is end of the quarter and that is the time to play hardball for a great deal.

NX MPG
olliesgrandad replied to bluenose1940's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I once owned a Mercedes 300ce which I bought used. This supposedly had a 75 litre tank but When a quarter full I was getting around 85 litres in the tank. A trip to the dealer revealed on the Mercedes Build sheet that the previous owner had specified a 90 litre long range fuel tank!! -
If anyone is unsure of the controls in their Lexus...
olliesgrandad replied to Mincey's topic in Lexus General Discussions
Drive!! Are you supposed to actually drive them and not spend the whole of your life learning how to use the controls.. 🎅 Has it easy with just these guys to feed🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌 -
The 3rd generation cars miss a lot of the 'bells and whistles' fitted on other Lexus models of the same age. My 2015 RX had an inferior navigation / sound system compared to my 2014 IS300h f sport and 2015 GS300h luxury. One could argue that the gen 3 was an older design, but lack of rev counter and a less sophisticated ML sound system seems strange together with non ventilated seats (standard on the GS). Oh and lack of rear cross traffic and blind spot monitoring. Oh the other strange thing is that the IS and GS can both be unlocked and locked from the rear doors unlike the RX.

NX 2016 F Sport possible purchase.

If the car is Lexus approved it will have 12 months Lexus warranty. Make sure you have a good long test drive. In 2018 I wanted an NX and after 10 miles had a bad back. I ended up with a 2015 gen 3 RX450h which is probably as good on mpg and for me far more comfortable. There have recently been people on here who have bought a new NX and sold within weeks because of back discomfort. Good hunting -
Rattle from boot , patient NX300H

Certainly the number plate my last RX was aluminium and rattled from time to time, so might be a good starting point. Also have you made sure the spare wheel metalwork is not chafing the wheel well. If the spare wheel is fixed with a screw thread then some silicone grease on the thread +around the fixing that sits in the centre of the spare wheel may help. -
I got a quote from Lexus based on my drive away information of £9200 a year. 😂😂😂😂

Hi Jon Forgot to mention, my cars service record shows both rear door seals changed early in its life. I recollect Rayaans had a similar issue. I certainly did on my 2015 GS300h - it was simply adhesive failure and was replaced under warranty. I chose my car because it was registered on 20th January. Don’t know which spec you are looking at, but I'm glad I paid a little extra for the Premier. The camera system is amazing and makes parking so easy. The ML sound system is superb, far better than my last 3 cars which all had ML.

Check the wheel centres around the emblem for pinhead areas of corrosion starting in the diamond cut finish (One of my wheels is being replaced under manufacturers warranty). Remember end of quarter is 31st December. Haggle on that basis. Check for any small dings in the Tailgate and bonnet . Both are aluminium and difficult /expensive to repair. See my article from yesterday. Fuel consumption is fantastic compared to previous version. This week tankful to tankful I achieved 37.6 mpg in my Premier Version. Remember that if the car was registered before 1st April 2017 it is only £115 pa Road tax. After that date allow an extra £350a year on top for the first 6 years. There are reports on this forum of vibration from the exhaust, but my certainly shows no sign of it. Otherwise check for usual issues. My car with 24000 miles (surprisingly) had just had discs and pads all round so do check the brakes are good. Any other questions feel free to ask. Les

Today I paid Paul Morris of The Dent Clinic' in Gloucester a visit to sort out the nasty dent in my tailgate that someone inflicted with a supermarket trolley. After 2 1/2 hours hard work the rear of my car is now pristine complete with original factory paint finish. Despite there being a nasty crease in the middle of the damaged area (and the panel being aluminium) the finish is 'as new'. It also appears that the self healing lacquer coat has worked its magic.

New member - any advice greatly appreciated

IS300h is a great choice. For ride comfort the f sport can be on the firm side. I don't know if size is an issue but a slightly bigger (and better finished in my opinion) car is the GS300h. I have owned both and the GS is almost as good on fuel as the IS with more room and comfort. They are quite competitively priced too. A 250 mile round trip into London from Gloucester saw 54mpg tankful to tankful with a 2015 GS300 luxury, but both cars are a sound choice. A nice low mileage GS from a main dealer should be well in budget if you don't mind getting a slightly older car(Lexus used car warranties are excellent). As far as IS300h go finding a car is down to the spec you want and the comfort of the ride. Certainly I have driven early and late versions and the later cars seem more fuel efficient. Lexus dealers always ask top dollar, don't be afraid/embarrassed to make low offers. Don't forget 31st of December is end of quarter for nearly all dealers and they need to meet targets and shift cars that have been unsold for 90 days. Get yourself a late Christmas present and save a few thousand 😊 -
I have used both Gliptone and latterly 'Chemical Guys' leather cleaners on my series 3 leather seats without any ill effects.

Well now covered just over 1000 miles and car is definitely better on fuel the gen 3 despite the cold and wet weather. Noticed Last night that some cretin has put a small ding in the Tailgate which exactly matches the height and dimension of a supermarket trolley handle 😠 Paint not damaged so paintless smart repair will hopefully sort it out..
