Do you regret your UX?
olliesgrandad replied to Jenna's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
I don't own a UX but I have had one as a loan car. 1.seating is a very personal thing. I suggest a long test drive is the answer and again the seats are different in different versions. For me the F sport seats would be a little firm(the version I have driven), but I am an old fogey😂 2. The car I drove was very quiet but tyres do make a big difference. 3. Economy is very good. The engine is a new design I am told, and the car will run in eV mode at quite high speeds. The build quality seems to be of a very high standard in my opinion, and I am comparing it with my car which new is around twice the price of a UX. -
NX FSport MPG
olliesgrandad replied to FCEV's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
My dealers service guys advised me that I would be be close to the NX for economy when I was considering which car to buy and that would appear to be the case especially with the great performance. I am looking forward to the summer to see how much the warmth will help -
Got a feeling the later cars might be better than the earlier ones mpg wise, but not doubt someone will put me right on that if I have got it wrong.

Definitely check out warranty as some seemingly innocuous jobs can cost mega bucks. My Current 2017 RX450h had a water pump replaced at 24000 miles. The part was £115 plus vat and the labour was £765 +VAT. This was done under manufacturers warranty but it makes you think carefully about how much these cars might cost to fix if they have been altered by someone who doesn't know what they are doing.

The only thing I will say is that the Lexus extended warranty is worth having and to compromise having it might be an expensive decision. I personally would be reluctant to compromise the integrity of the original design. If I bought a car that didn't meet expectations in respect of economy I would probably change it for a more suitable car rather than interfere with the way it was originally designed.

Good choice of car. Please view the YouTube video Lexus have done on hybrid driving technique. Over 22000 miles in my 2015 Luxury I averaged 33.6mpg. There's a lot of things to learn (and plenty of hidden items in the cars setup menu's), so I'm sure you'll be a regular here. Enjoy

I take it that you haven't got an extended Lexus warranty on your car as no doubt fitting LPG to the car would invalidate it. You are certainly far braver than I am. My only experience with LPG was driving a late 90s Vauxhall Astra with a factory supplied conversion which wasn't a great success (overheating issues). Be interested to learn how it goes. Good Luck

Paint care with protection pack
olliesgrandad replied to GruffaloRider's topic in Lexus Car Care & Detailing
I used to play that game, but age and a lack of free time sent me to the hand car wash (exterior only) . I then detail the outside with chemical guys products and clean the inside. I used to be really into car preparation. In the 90's I fully restored a Morris Minor saloon. Due to lack of use I sold it in 2006 to a family who showed it. In 2018 it came 2nd in the 70th Morris Minor Birthday Rally concours, so it was great to see that my efforts Al those years ago were worth it.. The lad who has it now runs The Austin Allegro Club.... Sadly I must admit to buying one new in 1976 😂 -
I wouldn't even consider fitting lpg to a hybrid. There are far too many issues that would concern me regarding reliability, especially travelling around Europe . If fuel economy is such an issue then perhaps you would be better off with a different vehicle as I don't know if the Atkinson cycle engines are suitable for conversion and if you were to get an issue when away from home who would have the knowledge to repair the car? I don't know what you are getting mpg wise being in Scotland, but I understand from the service staff at my dealer and other owners the consumption on the NX is low 30s in normal use. If you are willing to sacrifice boot space for an lpg tank then clearly you don't need that much luggage room. I have had a UX as a loan car and fuel economy on that is really good with plenty of oomph. That engine is a new design. Regarding LPG - if it could be done 1)What is the cost? 2)How much petrol would that cost buy you? Hope I have given you some food for thought. By the way Last year an NX owner in North Yorkshire quizzed me on the mpg of my 2015 RX450h and couldn't believe I was averaging over 33mpg as he was struggling to get much over 30. The terrain there is probably quite similar to Aberdeenshire. My current car has travelled just under 4,000 miles since purchased at the end of November (so all winter consumption) and my average mpg over that time is 36.79mpg according to my phone app. I always fill brim to brim so I know it is accurate.

You only need one kidney you know 😀😀😀😀 -
On my last RX450h Lexus paid for the diamond cut alloys to be refurbished. Lexus Cheltenham got them done at 'Reinventing the wheel' in Tewkesbury. I spoke to the refurbishers and they powder coated them in a shadow chrome very much like an F sport finish. They looked fabulous against the silver bodywork and would look even better against the grey.

The eco mode is certainly on the gen 3 and 4 RX450 h cars and basically the car holds the artificial gears in a high gear longer and gives a gentler rate of acceleration to help economy. On gen 3 450s this is controlled by a menu through the steering wheel. On gen 4 cars like the GS300h and is300h there is a rotary /push switch on the centre console to select the drive mode. Hope my explanation makes some sense 🤔

My 2017 model had the water pump replaced before I purchased it under manufacturers warranty. The car was in stock for sale and the paperwork shows prices without Vat of water pump at £115 and labour of £765. Therefore with VAT an eye watering£1065..Car had only covered 24000 miles. Makes the cost of an extended warranty look exceptional value. Interestingly out of 4 Lexus owned this is the 2nd (to my knowledge) to have had a water pump under manufacturers warranty

NX FSport MPG
olliesgrandad replied to FCEV's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Sorry I've lost the plot. For a moment I thought you were talking IS300h fuel figures and have just realised it is NX. 🌻🌼🌷 Your figures for the NX are about right from what owners have told me. I wanted an NX to replace my GS but my back didn't 😞. -
NX FSport MPG

Don’t want to upset you but my 2014 IS300h f sport was definitely better than the RX on petrol and my 2015 GS300h was better than the IS300h strangely. With the is I rarely used eco, and sport only for overtakes or junctions. Tankful to tankful is how I check my consumption using a phone app. That way I know its accurate in the real world. -
NX FSport MPG
olliesgrandad replied to FCEV's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Between 250 to 600 miles a week. The last tankful was a 170 mile round trip to Shropshire including 100 miles of motorway, the rest A and B roads with quite a bit of city driving. The previous tankful was my best so far at 38.85mpg. This RX is much better on fuel than my 2015 gen 3 car. Oh and I'm running on regular supermarket petrol. -
NX FSport MPG
olliesgrandad replied to FCEV's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
My advice is to view the Lexus YouTube video on driving hybrids. I always fill and check tankful to tankful. I have a phone app that records my figures. For sure the NX300h isn't as good on fuel as my RX450h but this is my 4th Lexus hybrid so I have plenty of practice driving economically. I refuelled today and my mpg was 36.6mpg. -
Built by Takumi craftsman really bad service by UK Lexus centers
olliesgrandad replied to LexusV6's topic in New Members Area
Sadly only 1 of 4 bought in the last 3 +years has been properly prepared (2 different dealers). -
Make sure that you get a fully stamped book. Remind them it is a condition of being an Approved used Lexy. Ask for a print out of the service work on the car. They can do this by cutting off the top of the pages to remove previous owner details. I did this and I can tell you that the printout shows a lot more than online or The Lexus Phone app eg new water pump under warranty, Fuel pump replaced at the behest of Lexus UK.
