  1. crikey that must have been slow! the 18r 2.0 was pretty low on power but a lovely cruiser. I had always planned on a 1UZ when I bought it but the high oil consumption just brought it forward slightly. Up until we started the conversion this was my daily driver.
  2. It was so much louder in person! I couldn't help but giggle, i'll put some more up as it happens. Thanks for the interest.
  3. Some pictures of the work being undertaken. old lump burning an alarming amount of oil Large load area Love the interior After a lot of work this was sat in the bay and the bonnet will shut on top, I find that's always a bonus. Wheels, I really wanted to keep the centre caps and thankfully they do fit, just. I have a video of the first start if anyone is interested.
  4. Hello all, Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong place but I have been asked to put a few pictures up of my work in progress which is a Lexus engined 70s Toyota. Keeping it in the family. It's slow going at the moment and has prompted me into looking for a GS300 for daily duties. Anyway here's the old bus as I bought her
  5. Thank you both for the welcome and the offer to view a car for me before I make a long trip, much appreciated. I have a few pictures of the work in progress, not sure which section to post them in? No manual conversion just the standard four speed as not only do I think it suits the character of the old bus but it is a lot cheaper/easier
  6. Hello, Just registered on here and thought i'd do a brief introduction, I'm in the process of looking for and buying technically what will be my second Lexus, i'll come back to that in a minute. So i'm on the hunt for a low mileage GS300 2005 onward. I see there are plenty out there so it shouldn't be too long albeit most are down south literally hundreds of miles away. I am willing to travel don't get me wrong I just need to find the time. The only thing that concerns me is this piston ring/oil usage issue that I have very recently been told possibly only effects U.S models? If anyone could verify this I would be very grateful. So as I alluded to at the top of the post the GS will be technically my second Lexus as I bought an LS400 about 6 months ago and the engine and gearbox are currently being fitted to my 1978 Toyota Cressida Estate. Apologies to the purists out there but the LS' body was vandalised but the engine and gearbox were, in true Lexus fashion still going strong. So if you could be bothered to get through all that please feel free to say Hi! bye for now.
