  1. Hi and welcome.

Coincidentally I met a new M3 at the lights today. I wasn't trying to race but I was in a rush and the other driver seemed to take it as an invitation...

From 0-60 it was neck and neck, completely even! Then traffic got in the way and he turned off. I'm pretty impressed with the old girl keeping up with a £60k car (I'm just going to assume the other guy was trying 😁).

@Rusty Crobar Well done Russ sounds like they've taken care of you as regards wheels and tyres.

And they are a top quality boot, having worked for Michelin doesn't make me a little bias of course.

Next time we take the cars for a little 'stretch' we can test these added inches you've acquired.....😉

You're the only man I would trust with my extra inches 😉

  3. This update probably isn't very helpful for those of you running standard wheels but thought you might find it interesting!

I've had my new Michelin PS4'S on for a few days. My wheels are an inch wider than standard all round so I was able to fit 255s up front and 275 in the back. I've heard some isf owners run a square set up with 255s all round which would have been an easier fit on the rear but I think this is only really suitable for the track.

With an aggressive offset, lowered suspension and 275s I had to get the rear arches rolled. A local bodyshop called endless road did an amazing job including full weather proofing and respray of the outer arches for just £270.

First impressions are very good. The car feels rock solid and cornering speeds are even higher than before 😊. The standard tyre set up on the isf is already excellent and I never felt it needed more grip on the road but the wider set up takes it to a new level. I think you would need to do crazy speed to get understeer, although I guess 400bhp will still light up the rears if you want 😁.

I can't really say if the PS4'S are better than the mpss I had on before as they were standard size but both are excellent tyres. I think our tame professional driver @Big Rat should take my car for a test drive to see what he thinks... 😎

No pictures sorry as it's impossible to photo black tyres on a black car!

    @DAW He's a man of taste we'll mostly..... 😉

All this talk I must get myself close to one just to to see if my lusting is justified, or am I and others on here just simply waiting when we should just sort out our bloody exhausts 😡

    Big Rat

Just picked up my car from the body shop and the owner said my car was the best sounding car he's ever worked on 😎. Better than all the skylines, rx7s and supra, not bad for a dolled up avensis 😁.

Every isf should have a proper exhaust, it's a public service!

  6. Here you go @Flytvr:

    Knurl / Spline Measurements

This is the part of the stud which fits into the wheel hub and ensures the wheel studs stays in place and does not rotate when wheel nuts are screwed onto the wheel stud. As this fit is key to installing wheel studs into you hub correctly, it is critical that you select the correct spline diameter.

If the Spline / Knurl size is too small the wheel stud will rotate in the hub, thus making it impossible to tighten any wheel nuts onto it, also if the Spline / Knurl diameter is too big you will not be able to press the wheel studs into the hub

@Rusty Crobar good on you for pushing the boundaries. If there's room at the outer edge, it's just a fine adjustment to the offset that's required but I suspect 255 will tram-line a little especially on the inside lane. So totally irrelevant, not sure why I mentioned it, we know you only ever briefly cross that lane when joining and leaving the motorway.

What is the inside lane? Is that where people without 5.0 V8s hang out? 😁

@Rusty Crobar So no going back:biggrin:....it's time for the wide arch kit and aggressive offset. 255 sounds a little 'wild' for the front, they must be low profile.

Presumably the usual wheel and tyre fitment checks have been done. I find this one the most help and saves me having to remember 3.14159... and adding 2x the tyre height as a percentage of the width for the full diameter for the rolling circumference and we haven't even got to the offset yet.... www.willtheyfit.com/

Yes, plenty of head scratching before changing. 255/35 is a good match for the standard tyre overall but my wider wheels are causing the issue. Maybe I'll try something a bit smaller next time 🤔
