  1. Sorry to dig up this again but just filled her up and got the best ever out of her with this tank..... Got 401.4 miles out of the tank and put 63.48 litres in to fill the tank fully. She seems to be getting better with every tankful!!! Maybe the Millers additive is giving the engine a clean through after all.

That's quite impressive, was that some seriously gentle driving as that's what it would take to get 400 miles out of my 200 auto!

It was a road trip from Sheffield to Whitby and back (around 100 miles each way), with a few days driving around whilst there and down to Scarborough and back.... (So a bit of stop start, a bit of motorway 70-75mph and the rest on country roads so 50-60mph stuff).

Then the rest was my normal trips to work and back along the motorway at 70-75mph and a few miles stop start town driving.

    Cheers

    Dave.

  2. HI I AM BRAND NEW TO THE CLUB I HAVE A 1998 LEXUS , AFTER BEING WITH BMW 7 SERIES FOR TEN YEARS I LOVE THE LEXUS BETTER THAN THE BEEMER , BUT MY LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON AND IT SAID 49 MILES IN TANK SO I PULLED IN TO THE NEXT GARAGE AND PUT IN £30.00 AND MY LOW FUEL LITE IS STILL ON ? HOPE SOME ONE CAN HELP TEL 07851732747 I AM 68 AND ITS MY FIRST LEXUS £ 5OOO I HPE WELL SPENT ...

How did you get the car to show how many miles were left???? Mine's a 2004 IS300 and all i have is the low fuel light.... The trip computer only shows total mileage and trip 1 and 2 mileages on mine with nothing for estimated range left in the tank?!?!?!

Just to add and agree with others it seems to be around 10 litres or so when the light comes on in mine also.

***EDIT*** Just realised you have an LS not an IS hence your range left indicator. :winky:

    Cheers

    Dave.

  3. I've just renewed my insurance this month.... My previous company wanted £500 for the renewal but i managed to find a better policy for £383 fully comp with 9 years protected NCB and only £250 excess with the wife as a named driver. This is for an '04 IS300 limited Edition and i'm 38 years old with no points.

    Cheers

    Dave.

  4. Well.... I'm in work today with a chap who is a lotter more mechanically minded than myself so we have been out for a run in the car so he can hear the noise for himself. He agrees it's not a bearing issue as it's defo a whistling noise rather than a rumble / bearing sound.

He thinks it may be one of the rear brake pads resonating in the caliper and causing the noise.... Or another issue with the rear brakes. He's suggested i check how warm both the rear brake discs feel when i get home tonight to see if one is warmer than the other etc....

    Cheers

    Dave.

  5. Hi all, I've noticed that my IS300 is making a whistling noise whilst driving but not 100% of the time. It is quiet up to around 30-40mph but then a whistling sound starts. It seems to stay then but is harder to hear with wind noise etc... As soon as you slow back down to less than 20-30mph or so it stops again.

To try and rule out the engine or gear box i put the car in manual mode and went from 5th to 4th to 3rd so that the revs changed / raised as the speed slowed slightly and the whistle didn't change etc... apart from it slowly going away as the car slowed down so this would seem to rule out the engine or gear box etc... Could it be a wheel bearing or would that make a whistle noise all the time at all speeds or can it cause symptoms like i have over a certain speed. Only other thing i can think is a brake caliper sticking??

Any help would be much appreciated before i book the car in for it's service in the next couple of weeks so i could mention possible causes to the garage when i book it in rather than just "it's making a whistling noise" etc..

    Cheers

    Dave.

  6. I'll give the £129 Toyota dealership a call then to book the car in.

The guy i spoke to this afternoon to get a price said it would involve the oil & filter change along with a general inspection and clean. As i say they used to do all the work for the Lexus dealership next door in the past and assume they still do so seems daft paying Lexus an extra £80 to have the work done in the same workshop!!!

    Cheers

    Dave.

  7. The car is due for it's annual service, (7 year / 70k this time.... Although the car's only done 63k!!!), this next week or two so thought i'd ring round for a price...

    Local Lexus dealership - £209

    Local Toyota dealership no.1 - £175

    Local Toyota dealership no.2 - £129

I know the previous owner of the car had the 60k service done including cambelt and sparkplugs etc... so am assuming the 60k is the major service and the 70k would be more of an oil / filter change and inspection kind of a service???

So does £129 sound ok for the 70k service on an IS300??? Also this Toyota dealer is the one in the area that is actually bang next door to the Lexus dealer and i'm pretty sure when the wife used to have her IS and took it in to the Lexus dealership for servicing it was always done at this Toyota dealership next door.

    Cheers

    Dave.

  8. Just tried mine and it doesn't do this.... I'm assuming it means that if you have locked all the doors after getting in the vehicle by using the door lock/unlock button the doors will unlock when you open the drivers door??? Well i got in turned on the ignition and then locked the doors.... Then turned the ignition off and tried opening the drivers door and nothing happened.... I had to unlock all the doors using the lock/unlock button to get out of the car.

    Cheers

    Dave.

  9. Again, i'm only copying from list in Gold Forums. Not sure if I should be doing this.

Perhaps one of the Management could confirm if this list is up to date.

  10. Full list in the Gold members forums.

Which is good but how do you find the info out about dealers in your location as part of your weighing up of whether to become a gold member???

Would be handy to have this info before being a gold member as i would imagine it's a major factor in the decision to join to some members... Money's tight these days and i for one would like to know if my local dealerships are part of the scheme before shelling out £25 only to find i'm only going to get access to a couple of extra forums. msn-wink.gif

By the way i'm in Sheffield so if someone could confirm if Lexus Sheffield are in the scheme that would get me joining gold membership by the end of the week!!!!

    Cheers

    Dave.

  11. Had the IS in for it's MOT today and passed with flying colours. Noticed it had had a couple of advisories last year before i bought it but turned out they were for a worn tyre and a broken interior drivers door handle mechanism which had both been sorted before i bought it in November.

She drives and feels like she first went on the road last week and not seven years ago this Wednesday!!!

In a good mood now so thought i'd share the good vibe with everyone. :D

    Cheers

    Dave.

  12. Have got the Lexus booked in for it's MOT tomorrow and got the certificate out ready for the morning when i noticed that last year it had an advisory/advisories. I'd not noticed it before and started thinking the worst about what it could have been and so did a quick search online to see if you can find out what a vehicles advisories were and hey presto you can. emoticon-0144-nod.gif

    MOT history

The link takes you to the DirectGov site which then links you through to the MOT history check. You just need the reg number and the MOT test number off the last MOT certificate and it will then bring up all the info for every MOT the vehicle has ever had including any advisories and also any failures etc...

Thought it may be of some use to people when buying a used car.

Oh and the advisories the car got last year???

A broken interior door handle on the drivers door which i have a receipt for repair that came with the car..... And a worn tyre which had also been replaced by the time i bought the car. emoticon-0100-smile.gif

    Cheers

    Dave.

  13. I've just tried searching for this but i can't find the answer.... Just wanted to know how much fuel there is in the tank when the low fuel light comes on? In my last car as well as the low fuel indication i also had a "range left" display so i knew roughly how much was in the tank.

It's an IS300 if that makes any difference.

I'm sure i've seen it somewhere on here before but can't find it for the life of me.

    Cheers

    Dave.

  14. Mines an 04 plate IS300 and works as follows....

Press the windscreen wash button on the stalk with the lights off or on sidelights and only the windscreen wash works.

Press the windscreen wash button on the stalk with the lights on dip or mainbeam and both headlight and windscreen washers work but only the first time you do it.... After the first time only the windscreen wash works.

If the headlights need another wash after the above first time wash then the button on the dash cleans the headlights.

Having had three cars with xenons now this is probably the best system i've had so far having the ability to wash the headlights alone if required....

In my Polo GTi when the headlights were on the windscreen and headlight washers worked together every time you used the windscreen washers. (Went through washer water / fluid like nobodies business!!!)

In my Fabia vRS when the headlights were on both windscreen and headlight washers worked the first time then again every five times after that so you get one wash with both then the next four would be just the windscreen then the next one would be both again and so on.

    Cheers

    Dave.
