  1. I think I would have to agree with the dealership. There may well be no corrosion to the metal but if water has gone under the paint it may well swell and blister. What colour is the car? A smart repair may be the way to go.
  2. Joined 11yrs ago, that's some dormant period!
  3. If Toyota/Lexus implement function coding along the same lines as Mercedes (I imaging all manufacturers will use similar systems) then these regional specific codes will set using production line level coding systems. Once the cars emerge into the real world the service level systems such as Techstream will not have individual access to the lower level coding and region specifics will be grouped together to make replacing modules, due to failure or accident, simpler/quicker/cheaper. One can change the region such as from UK to ROW (speaking from MB experience) to achieve a required change but one needs to be very careful that other 'grouped' settings aren't also changed, that may lead to unwanted changes in other settings. Maybe from miles to kilometres or gallons to litres, for example.
  4. "Rip off" is very subjective, a personal opinion. I may be very happy to pay my dealership £300 to service my car. I am not getting ripped off. You may think that I am but your assessment of my expenditure is yours not mine and as such the transaction is not a rip off as you didn't pay it ...
  5. No, not at all... All new tyre have radial colour bands signifying the degree of run-out and circularity. If an axle pair are fitted with the same direction of run-out the car will try to drift in that direction. A good fitter (with available stock) should choose a pair with opposing run-out to cancel the effect. On a high performance car that will be driven at high speeds I would request that the tyre shop source appropriate tyres. Obviously this won't happen at the likes of Quickfit etc but those shops that often deal with performance cars should know.
  6. Were the new tyres a mirror pair? That is were the colour bands opposite on each tyre. Tyre run-out can cause drift if not cancelled out by selecting the pairs. Not too much of an issue at normal road speeds but still noticeable.
  7. Passchendaele
  8. I simply get new blades every 12 months from the dealer, fitted at service time. No hassle
  9. Where were you in relation to the vehicle to know the alarm didn't sound?
  10. I quite like the clean, no badge, look. They are rare cars anyway and this adds a further element of mystery! 👍
  11. All one needs to know about replacing the batteries - thanks Britprius
