Have you read the Navigation handbook, voice command section? From what I have read there are no commands for operating the heating system?

That description is more like the parking sensors operation

Had the windscreen replaced on my RC last year and it went without a hitch, once they managed to get a screen! Appointment was put back three times as they waited for delivery from Lexus EU. My dealership also stated they don't replace windscreens and they don't recalibrate the ADAS either. That was contracted out to a firm that does nothing but ADAS and it took them 2 days! Make sure you get the system recalibrated, not just road tested by the windscreen fitter.

The glass in my RC is all UV filtering. Listed as such in the build spec and by etching on the glass itself.

Japan is much warmer than the UK and has more extremes of temperatures and humidity. Japan is a huge country stretching some 2.5k miles north to south. The south Islands are tropical and the north island has very cold winters. Summer in Tokyo is unbelievably humid ... That all said the cars would be tested/stressed in climate chambers at even more extreme temperatures. We in the UK have a very benign climate

TBF sofas aren't designed to survive extreme heat and UV. I have red leather interior in my RC and it sits in the full sun, the rear screen faces the sun in the hottest part of the day. The rear head restraints are still the same shade as those parts not in direct sunlight. OK, only 3yrs old but I doubt I'll see a change in my lifetime. Automotive leathers are all coloured with UV resistant dyes and PU coated. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I always used Collinite 915 on my Mercs but now use Meg's Ultimate Liquid wax simply because it has been designed to be applied in full sun. Lasts well, not as long as the 915 but good enough and so easy to work.

Sorry but aren't these materials all designed/selected to withstand in-cabin temperatures and UV levels from Kent to Kyoto? It's not like the car in question is sitting in the Arizona sunshine for 20yrs!

I'd be very surprised if that was the case as cars are subjected to far more extreme temperatures during design. The temperatures we experienced are the norm in Japan...

AFAIK only the LS has cooled ventilated seats? The seats in my RC are ventilated but only using cabin air, which is the reason I don't switch them on until the cabin has chilled or you are just blowing hot air through them! It doesn't take long but is noticeable. I suppose my point was that the Japanese naturally expect a high level of climate performance, as they have such hot, humid summer/autumn.

Let's not forget Japan also has a very humid and hot climate ..

On very hot days I always open all windows and the sunroof for the first 5min or so, just dissipate the hot air in the cabin. One can feel when the cabin is cooling and then I close the windows. At this point I would switch on the ventilated seat, to draw the cooler air from the footwells. Sunroof stays open until speeds get above 30mph, hot air rises so helps remove the residual 'parked heated air' once above 30 mph one can feel the warmer outside air being drawn back down into the cabin. Climate control is always set to Auto everything... Must say the RC (OK it's a small cabin volume being a coupe) is one of the most effective climate systems I've experienced. Add to that there's no screaming protestation (cracking, clicking, creaking) from the ductwork either!

They have a small heated section of windscreen where the wipers park, stops them from sticking to the screen. Never heard of the wipers themselves being heated, not sure how that could work.

It only 'fails' when warm/hot, once it's cooled down it's ok.

CPS is always the prime suspect for problems with warm starts.

I'm not sure how one's insurer might view this idea, should the unfortunate happen.

Something highly visible, such as a steering wheel disc lock would put off casual thieves but to be honest if professionals really want it (steal to order) then they will defeat pretty much anything.
