Best way to charge a NX450h+
NemesisUK replied to Marc Jolly's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Reading the handbook the traction battery is only ever charged to 80% max capacity. Presumably to allow for regenerative braking from the start of a journey? -
Secrets of the RX
NemesisUK replied to Sybaris's topic in RX 300 / RX 350h / RX 400h / RX 200t / RX 450h+ / RX 500h Club
How bout the illuminated door interior aluminium trim? The adjustable depth cup holder? (Only the one closest to the dash)? The lift out caddy in the armrest? The very effective Climate Concierge and auto S-Flow function? -

Does the owner's handbook offer any tips or advice? Both my RC and my RX have a small section devoted to getting the best from the car. -
Check the customisation options listed in the handbook. There's usually various configurations possible

Apparently the Japanese dislike (find offensive) the smell of leather, so their cars don't smell

Looking forward are Michelin Crossclimates available for my RX? Tyre size is 235/55/20 and looking at the Michelin UK website brings nothing available but looking at the ATS website shows the Crossclimate2 is available? https://www.atseuromaster.co.uk/consumer/type/search-tyres/23555vr20miccrossclim2aw1000204720

Is that newsletter US or North America based? I believe they used artificial leather far more commonly than here in the EU. Strange that Lexus differentiated the models by seat materials. I have nothing against artificial leather, as long as it's not passed off as real leather, the likes of MBTex was extremely hard wearing, if not particularly 'leathery' unless compared with army boots! The leather seats in my RC and these in the RX are far softer than any leather I experienced in my Mercs (except the nappa retrim I had in the C class). I checked out an RX Takumi with semi-aniline leather seats and that was very sumptuous and similar to my nappa seats in the C class.

RC to RX

I've got the boot wifi box linked to the multimedia unit and linked to my phone, no issues. All set up on the portal and car verified, multimedia registered etc, etc.. Car starts in Lexus online mode (Android Auto works ok) Lexus Link app states my connected services are activating and it may take 24hrs to complete (that was 48hrs ago) Dealership says the RX "can be grumpy" setting up connected services and the salesman today went through the process only to say it might take a few days!! Apparently once connected there should be a QR code on-screen accessing data plans etc.. We'll see, nothing terribly important but I like to explore these things. Slightly off on an tangent but the previous owner must have had the maps updated OTA (according to the download history) and I think this has disabled the safety camera alert beeps. Anyone know how to re-enable these alerts? Do I just download the current maps to a USB and perform another 'update'? -
That's a very kind offer, thank you. Your suggestion has sparked a memory, I have one! In the shed, somewhere. Now if I dare venture into that spider web infested black hole. Maybe tomorrow, in the sunlight.... (Me, afraid of spiders!, No! No, OK, well just a bit 🙄, I know, I'll send the wife in! 😁 )

Which Tyre Gauge and how Accurate
NemesisUK replied to Marlinleg's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I bought this, -GS/TUV Approved and ANSI Grade B accuracy ( 2% accuracy). RACE X RX0014 Tyre Pressure Gauge Total accuracy isn't really necessary, just check the tyres regularly and if they are wearing evenly across the tread, all is fine -

Manufacturers always recommend pressure in cold tyres as this value is calculated to give the correct hot running pressures without danger of over heating due to flex etc. If adjusted when the tyre is hot it will be significantly under-inflated. The recommendation to check when cold is a recommended throughout the motoring world https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/how-to/checking-tyre-pressure/#:~:text=You should always check your, may give inaccurate pressure readings. https://www.theaa.com/driving-advice/safety/tyre-pressures https://www.bridgestonetire.com/learn/maintenance/how-to-check-tire-pressure/ https://www.michelin.co.uk/auto/advice/tyre-pressure/check-tyre-pressure https://www.halfords.com/tyres/advice/video-tyre-pressure.html -
RC to RX

Been playing with WiFi settings on the multimedia system and linked my existing account, which it seems to have accepted. Using the Lexus Link mobile app I have verified I'm the legitimate user of the car and the app tried to load my connected services only to announce a problem try later! The WiFi box in the load area is alive and blinking the various lights and I have connected my phone to the box with no problems. Reading this info on the Lexus website it appears Lexus will cover the data costs associated with this service for 10yrs? "The Connected Services of the Lexus Link App will function for 10 years. Lexus will cover the cost of data used to provide connected services for 10 years, but the Lexus Link App will function even without connected services." https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/about-my-lexus/lexus-link-connected-services I'll keep playing and see if the app connects or whatever it's trying to do over the next days otherwise it's a trip to the dealer, not sure how confident I am in them being knowledgeable regarding this but nothing ventured ... -
Green Wheel Dust Covers
NemesisUK replied to Jgtcracer's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
Nitrogen obeys the same gas laws as normal air, so it will still change pressure as the ambient temperatures change. Just check your pressures first thing in the morning before the sun warms them. I find around December as the average ambient temp drops the pressures drop and then in April/May time the temps rise and they need reducing again. Been like that since Adam was a boy..😉 -
Recommend interior cleaner
NemesisUK replied to Marlinleg's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I always use Meguiars interior quick detailer spray on all surfaces, obviously not glass. With Dr Leather wipes on the seats and other leather bits every couple of weeks. -

NemesisUK replied to Jgtcracer's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
As normal air is 80% nitrogen anyway you'd need to be an F1 driver to appreciate any difference! Filling tyres with nitrogen also limits one's refill opportunities plus the additional costs. Pretty sure Lexus wouldn't bother using nitrogen so guess the previous owner did it, probably when renewing the tyres. IMHO a total waste on a road car. -
Climate change is the widely held belief Not really answering your question but this link explains why the UK doesn't use it's own resources and why it imports so much oil and gas. https://oeuk.org.uk/offshore-energies-uk-oeuk-why-is-the-uk-exporting-gas-when-we-are-short-supply/

Interestingly the build sheet for my RX states seat material is "natural leather" and the door trim is "artificial leather". Seems unambiguous to me. The build sheet for my RC read the seat material was "smooth leather" and door trim "artificial leather". Regarding the cleaning of the seats I would simply use a damp cloth for routine cleans and then use Dr Leather wipes for a more thorough clean. All modern automotive leather is PU sealed so doesn't benefit from conditioning in it can be detrimental by leaving a surface that attracts dirt and grit that eventually erodes the surface causing cracks. The artificial leather can be cleaned the same way. The leather wipes leaves a nice aroma, bonus!
