NemesisUK replied to NemesisUK's topic in Lexus General Discussions
There was no mention of costs but as another mentions the previous survey was regarding using Toyota as a service centre -

Not sure it's a clear cut as that? Depending on whether the drl also acts as positional light and some drl don't go off but dim as the headlight comes on? -
I just received a prepaid fuel card from Lexus as a thank you for buying my car! £250 worth of fuel to help me enjoy my new purchase...

Just had a "Talk to Lexus" survey talking about rapid dealer servicing. Being able to book a time slot and get the car serviced and valeted by two experienced technicians in under 1hr while you wait... The first free text field asked what I thought of the offer and I must say I was a bit scathing. What corners are being cut? Are Lexus employing so many more techs that they are able to turn cars round so quickly? Is Lexus taking on the likes of Kwikfit and Halfords? Am I being too cynical?

Headlight Sensitivity Setting
NemesisUK replied to Marlinleg's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
One of the first things I noticed coming from Mercedes to Lexus is that the headlamps are not sequenced to the wipers. On the MBs that I had, if the wipers operated for more than 30secs the dipped headlamps came automatically and obviously off again should the wipers stop. The wipers were rain sensing, just as the Lexus ones are. My guess was that in Germany it has been compulsory to have dipped beam on in rain since the 60's Another thing noted was that the rear fog lamps on the Merc would automatically go off should the car travel faster than ~30mph. Presumably MB reckon if you can drive that quickly it can't be that foggy! -

Happens across many marques. I asked MB dealers to code various functions into my S203 but "sorry can't be done" Went to a very respected independent who did it easily. One cannot blame the dealers, their hands are tied with Lexus (Mercedes etc...) enforcing model variant differentiation. -
If one presses the Start without depressing the brake pedal one goes into Acc or IGN or Off modes.. "Modes can be changed by pressing the power switch with brake pedal released. (The mode changes each time the switch is pressed.)" Which would support a failing brake pedal switch. The car doesn't know you are depressing the pedal

All you wanted to know about limiters... https://www.confused.com/car-insurance/guides/speed-limiters-mandatory-on-new-cars "The ETSC says that the technology used in ISAs has a high level of accuracy. It has the ability to detect temporary speed limits, digital signs and overhead signs. ISAs also have an in-built function which means it can detect over-the-air updates to speed limit information. But ultimately, the car’s speed is the driver’s responsibility, The ETSC says: “ISA is a driver assistance technology: the driver, not the car, is responsible for obeying the current speed limit at all times.” -

Indeed the only way noted in the handbook is to use the map 1 Touch [🔎 ] on the map screen. 2 Touch [ 🏠]. 3 Move the map to the location you wish to register and touch [OK]. -

A bit like the compulsory speed limiters that will be making an appearance soon, these 'safety systems' should all be on by default but they can all be disabled, even if only for the duration of the journey I'm not a fan of all these functions IMHO they can promote laziness and a lack of concentration in the driver. No matter if the handbook reiterates time and time again these are driver aids and the driver is always responsible for driving safely.... -
The most important thing is to remain polite and calm. That very first interaction with whomever will set the tone for future negotiations. Having been on the receiving end of customer complaints myself if the customer comes in all guns blazing or starts off with abusive language and accusations my shutters come done and I'm not inclined to help! That said usually my first question to the customer is "what is the outcome you are looking for?", helps focus the discussions and often reveals the customer isn't clear in their own mind what they expect!

Lane Departure Assist
NemesisUK replied to RXtoNX's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Possibly because it became mandatory on new cars from 2022 Mandatory It is currently only mandatory on trucks and buses registered since 2015. It will not be mandatory on passenger cars and vans until July 2022 for new approvals, and 2024 for new registrations. https://www.fundacionmapfre.org/en/education-outreach/road-safety/adas-systems/types/lane-departure-warning-and-lane-keeping-assist/ https://www.interregs.com/articles/spotlight/eu-regulation-on-emergency-lane-keeping-systems-published-000229 -
I actually got a printout after one service,on my first RC but not since, just a confirmatory tick, all ok ...

Suspension geometry check is included as part of the major service, on my RC at least. Haven't checked if the same with the RX. If any adjustment required it would be an extra cost item.

Perhaps you have these set to On in the My Settings function? Each time you enter the car with the key fob the car will restore the settings to those linked with the fob How to enable/disable this is detailed in the Multimedia handbook. Might be worth a look? Touch [⚙️ ] from the main menu. 2 Touch [ ](User profile name or vehicle name) or [ ][Guest] on the submenu. 3 Select the desired item. -

The handbook clearly shows it is possible to turn off the function using the customisation settings 1 Select ⚙️ on the center display. 2 Select [Vehicle customise] or [Driving assist]. 3 Select the item to change the settings of from the list. -
Just fill up with V-Power?
-
More likely down to weight saving ..

Apologies, I missed that bit That said, does the UX have acoustic glass on the front windows? This was a big difference I noticed between my RC and now the RX, the RX has acoustic glass and outside sounds are very much reduced

Where does some of the "ambient noise" come from, if not the tyres?

Smart Keyless Entry
NemesisUK replied to bgb's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
Touching the door handle to lock/unlock will only work if the key fob is within range, so there must be a radio signal present? I always use the touch method to lock the car, as I'm stood right next to it I can see and hear it is locked, plus I always have the door mirror auto-fold on so I can see when I look back, the car has been locked. When in a public space I also double touch (touch, wait a couple of seconds and touch again) the handle to deadlock the car. This means even if a window is broken the car doors cannot be opened from the inside. -

This, to me , is the biggest positive for the plug-in models. 👍 -
So, called into my local ATS (visited often when I had my AMG..) and spoke with the manager regarding the availability of CC2 in the 235/55/20 size. He tapped away on the keyboard and sighed... Yes, they are offered in that size but currently there is no stock and Michelin give no date for when they will become available. Apparently this could mean anywhere between 4-6 weeks to 6 months! As ATS Euromaster is part of the Michelin group I would imagine they would be best placed to know
