  1. Yes I was really happy with the defrost performance on my RC, far better than the Mercs I had before. Not had to test the RX yet...
  2. Keeping in mind, in the UK at least, there are a couple of pieces of legislation one could fall foul of. Leaving a running vehicle unattended (on publicly accessible land) and leaving a car idling for a prolonged period..
  3. Don't you use screen wash? Just increase the concentration to drop the freezing point. I use one bottle of Lexus wash concentrate per fill of the tank.
  4. You have checked the button hasn't been inadvertently pressed, switching off the function?
  5. Park the car in a heated garage ... (Oh, I wish!!!)
  6. From the RAC "The legal tyre tread depth for cars in the UK and Europe is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, according to law. The tread must meet this minimum requirement across its complete circumference" For winter tyres the requirement is the same, legally but one is advised to replace at 4mm for safe use on snow. I replace (summer) tyres once they are down to 3mm "The difference in wet braking distance between a tyre worn to 3mm and one worn to 1.6mm can be as much as 44%. "
  7. For mileage I would always recommend Michelin tyres. I've also found they grip well both wet and dry. I have never really considered noise as the V8 growl drowned out road noise... I have Continentals on my RX and they appear very quiet, no idea on mileage yet.
  8. Interesting in that the NSTB investigation pointed to the the engine failure was potentially due to oil additives being used. The fact that MMO is nothing more than mineral oil, white spirit and animal fat harks back to it's 1920's origin, typical "Snake oil"?
  9. Interesting stuff "In an NTSB post aircraft accident investigation published in 2003, it was reported that Marvel Mystery Oil was composed of 74 percent mineral oil, 25 percent stoddard solvent, and 1 percent lard"
  10. The hybrid battery provides all the electrical power for the car, steering assist, lights and of course spinning the electric motor/generator to start the petrol engine ....
  11. https://westbridgfordwire.com/rufford-ford-to-close-to-all-vehicles-from-today-on-safety-grounds/
  12. Is it no longer available from Lexus?
  13. Regarding the two examples above, where the cars plugged in or not when the preheat function was invoked?
  14. Drove approx 100mls last night on A,B and dual carriageways with the adaptive headlamps on and it wonderful to watch how the shadow moves across the road following approaching cars and how the dipped range reduces as one approaches the car in front. The full beam spread and range alters as one's speed changes as well, very impressed Didn't get flashed the whole journey 👍
  15. I believe Ford's patent expired back in 2011 I had a heated screen on my Alhambra back in the late 90's, fantastic and would love to have it on the Lexus. Many marques have used the technology on their cars, under licence from Ford. Now anyone can offer it but very few do and then often only as a special option (e.g Mercedes Special Protection variants)
  16. Doesn't one have to pull and release the lighting switch lever with the Power switch off?
  17. Just make sure you read the T&Cs governing this "Extended Tyre Warranty" https://www.national.co.uk/information/extended-tyre-warranty-terms-and-conditions
  18. Yup, both my RC were completely wrapped in white film on delivery to the dealership, even the alloys had a hardened version on them.
  19. You are depressing the brake pedal when pressing the Power button?
  20. Which is how Lexus can absorb any cost increase over the life of the plan. As the customer you are not paying any interest
  21. Not the IS but have driven RWD cars for many years and specifically the RC300h the last 6yrs with no problems apart from it being quite low and I had to avoid flooded roads. Which is why I'd suggest an SUV style car in your situation. Ground clearance would be a concern with the IS but that doesn't mean it can't be driven daily in any weather just be aware there may be road conditions unsuitable for safe progress
  22. Bottom of the list is Other / Non UK
  23. The car is perfectly safe and can be driven in all weather, the Japanese have pretty severe weather as well.! Just make sure you have suitable tyres for the conditions and terrain. Perhaps some tuition for the driver, just to build confidence? If it were me, I would go with an SUV (NX or RX) rather than a low slung saloon... By the way your location in you profile is Berkshire, is there a Berkshire in New Zealand?
