  1. Exactly, unless one drives at 9/10ths everywhere there really isn't a huge difference between tyres from premium manufacturers.
  2. Lexus aren't alone in these delays and if they (and other marques) had any influence on the situation don't you think they would use it? They are in the business of selling cars after all
  3. This all said I am surprised Lexus doesn't fit heated nozzles. All my Mercs had them, the AMG had a heated reservoir as well as trace heated tubing!
  4. No snow mode in my RX, maybe because it's e-Four? Even with snow mode or AWD, tyres are the essential element.
  5. I use Lexus Swindon and can thoroughly recommend them.
  6. My concern would be that the new valve caps are now presumably the only thing holding the air in the tyres? I'm assuming the new valve covers must depress the valve core to release the pressure so they can monitor it?
  7. The process should be detailed in your handbook but generally it's resetting the one touch windows and sunroof. There may be other systems that need resetting but it will be in the handbook.
  8. Sounds like you don't have the correct concentration of screen wash in the reservoir. I've had no issues with my previous car, the RC or my current RX.
  9. Let's hope Lexus has solved the problem of OTA updates disabling the speed camera alert function 🤞
  10. All my Lexus cars have been within the manufacturer's warranty period and I have always had (and still do) a service plan with Lexus. I simply telephone my dealer, arrange a date and time and service is done, no hassle. I often wait in the showroom (plenty of coffee and biscuits!) or I have a courtesy car. Never had a problem 👍
  11. Of no real help but I had no end of issues getting my RX 'connected'. My dealer admitted the RX "can be a bit grumpy" but in the end I had to contact Lexus EU and a chap there explained there can be issues connecting a new owner to a pre-owned vehicle. It took approx 1 week before they sorted it. See my Sept 6th post in this thread
  12. What do you mean by "mixed"? Could you let us know the make and version of the tyres fitted to your car? That all said no tyre except a studded version would grip on ice..
  13. Just changed the factory fitted Dunlops Sport Maxx 050 for Continental ContiCrossContact UHP. So far the only thing I've noticed is the car is less 'nervous' under braking.
  14. I bought one of these, simple accurate and nothing really to go wrong. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/93915/racex-tyre-gauge-rx0014
  15. Just for interest, a brief history of the heated windscreen https://www.hagerty.co.uk/technology/brief-history-heated-windscreen/
  16. I can sympathise. I slipped and fell forward onto a metal pole, ouch! Didn't think too much of it until trying to get out of my car a couple of hours later. My word did that hurt!! 😆 You're so correct in how such a thing affects so much of what one does otherwise so unthinkingly. Answering the call of nature was almost comical if it hadn't been so painful, basically I had to 'roll off' the toilet I had to sleep almost sitting up as I just couldn't lay flat... Took an age to repair itself to
  17. Probably down to 'rounding up/down' as the display only shows integers
  18. Must be all that heavy breathing John! 😂
  19. My hybrid RC defrosted quickly and the petrol engine was up to temp within minutes. Not really had to test the RX but from a subzero start the morning the engine was up to temp within minutes, very similar to the RC.
  20. Do you have ASC (Active Sound Control) enabled? This "generates engine sound, conveying the kinetic situations of the vehicle’s acceleration and deceleration to the driver through the speakers inside the instrument panel." If you have it it will be controlled by a thumbwheel on the lower dash panel
  21. I trust Glyn won't mind me answering but what I believe is meant is one can have two sets of four tyres programmed into the TPMS controller. One set would be programmed when the button is pushed in (for example four wheels with summer tyres fitted) and another set programmed when the button is not pushed in (for example four wheels with winter tyres fitted). This then makes it easy to switch between the two sets without having to reprogram but simply press the button in or release it
  22. I thought that also, plus the relatively small cabin volume helps. The much larger internal volume of the RX presents a greater challenge and I think this where the designers came up with the targeted climate control, detecting which seats are occupied and only directing heat/cooling to those positions.
  23. "Scrubbing" is very common come the colder months. It's just the tyre skipping on full lock, the sidewalls aren't flexible enough to accommodate the tighter steering angle and the tyre deforms and looses contact with the road, then snaps back. It's far more associated with extreme low profile, say, 40, 30 etc.. summer tyres. What tyres do you have? I had it on my RC, first time it happened I thought I'd driven over a brick! Have a read of this previous thread on the subject
  24. Or does it just mean you need to up the cold pressures to account for the low ambient temps of winter? I always have to top up the pressures in the winter, then drop them again come the milder months..
