  1. I had a SEAT Alhambra with 5% tints, all round bar windscreen. At night had to drop the side windows to see safely when negotiating junctions or reversing. Never again....

  3. Agreed. This is my first exposure to this type of automatic transmission, coming from the common brake-band/clutch type. The eCVT is so smooooth, then add the artificially created ratios in Sport mode, best of both worlds. Plus must be more reliable, easily maintained considering there's no engaging, disengaging of cogs or friction bands
  4. If it's like the Mercedes fob the PCB slides out of the housing. Care needed inserting a thin blade to release the retaining tab.
  5. Sounds like the old fashioned manual mirrors that 'dipped' literally by tilting slightly, going dark as the reflecting surface looked downward. Slightly updated by incorporating liquid crystal and electronics to dip both mirrors when driver touches the button on the mirror?
  6. Do the door mirrors demist? Could it be a fuse feeding the rear window heater element has failed?
  7. Does it not become sticky when it dries out? Certainly does around the nozzle of the Fairy Liquid bottle...
  8. Personally I would want A diagnosis done using the Lexus system. That's a lot of money to be guessing..
  9. Does the code reader not specify which component is causing the error? I'm not familiar with Lexus diagnostics but surely it should be more detailed? Or was this a generic OBD reader?
  10. One can install OBD blockers that prevent cloning via the OBD port. One can also install a CANBUS switch anywhere in the circuit that can disable the car from starting or can slowly throttle the fuel supply, ensuring the thief is a good safe distance away when the car grinds to a halt. The CANBUS switch is enabled at every IGN off cycle and is disabled via a driver key press sequence. All that said I think I'd rather s thief clone my key remotely, from outside my house than break in and potentially threaten my family to obtain the key...
  11. I tend to switch to Sport mode when driving out of town, reserving Normal only for urban/town trips. Love the way the car springs to life, much sharper throttle response. Not noticed much difference in mpg either.
  12. I drove cars when we had to physically unlock each door, with a key, no great hardship. Then we got central locking, only had to unlock the driver's door with the key, that was nice didn't have to walk round the car car unlocking doors, or reaching across the inside to do the same. Then came remote central locking, very nice, click the fob, car unlocked by the time one had walked up to it. Now we have keyless entry, car unlocked just by pulling the door open, without needing to find the remote fob (which pocket/bag was it in?). What's common to all? Pulling the door open. The operation has been reduced to it's basic requirement. That is until we have keyless, powered entry! Oh, also common to all, cars were always stolen and stolen more easily when we had keys,,,

  14. Lexus supply and fit price for the mud flaps is £250 here in the UK. The Protection Pack, when ordered with the car, is surprisingly good value at £450. All the elements purchased separately come to £690.. Imaged on a Titanium colour car
  15. I don't think the mud flaps are as obtrusive as on some cars but they certainly keep some of the muck off the car
  16. Been using Nextzett Gummi Pflege for many years, essential seal treatment in the winter months to prevent window seals freezing to the glass, especially on those with frameless windows. A little goes a long way. Highly recommended
  17. I had the protection pack fitted and must say the mud flaps front and rear certainly keep the majority of the muck of the car. Yes the rear valance does get a film of road grime but no worse than many other cars. Regarding closing the boot lid, I use the interior grab handle to flip it down then quickly press on the centre of the boot top edge. Minimal dirt on hands and no tell tale prints on the boot
  18. My RC300h is averaging 42mpg, with only 800 miles on the clock I'm expecting it to improve as the car loosens up..
  19. If you want a good, long lasting carnauba wax final layer I'd recommend Collinite's #915 Marque D'Elegance paste wax or for "easy on, easy off" type gel wax their #845 Insulator wax. Both last a good few months even with weekly washes.
  20. Only the wheel offset stands out (see what I did there? ) to me. The rest seems quite restrained, certainly compared with some Mercedes body kits and quite possibly the RC's side skirts and rear arches. Being all black that NX actually looks quite classy IMHO
