Door button not working in cold weather

Frozen door buttons on the new NX has been reported numerous times on this forum. Lexus has gone over to a rubber covered button as opposed to the hall effect on previous models. Apparently due to the new door handles not pulling out as all previous models. -

Silicone attracts dirt and grit, best avoided totally. Use something like Gummi Pflege on the rubber seals to condition and prevent freezing -

What you did is the only legitimate reason to flash headlights This is rule 110 of the Highway Code. The rule states: Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not use your headlights to convey any other message, or to intimidate other road users. A message, I fear, is lost to the majority of drivers... -
In the RC and in the RX the fan speeds and airflow direction will change automatically and differently on each side of the car depending on the sun position as the system attempts to maintain the set temperature(s). The displayed temperature(s) never change.

The temperature displayed on the control panel is the desired cabin temperature, it should not change. The climate control system will change the temperature of the air supply to try and maintain that displayed temperature. So one can often feel warmer or cooler air flowing but the display should not change, that is the system target temperature. In all my cars over the many years of auto climate control, this display temperature has not changed unless adjusted by me. If you version of climate control has the auto option under the recirc/fresh air then when selected the system will switch to the best option to provide the desired output. If you have a pollution sensor it may change to help prevent the introduction of exhaust fumes into the car. In my car I have the input air set to auto and in the winter at start-up it will normally switch to fresh air to help demist the windows (as the a/c does not operate at temps below apporx 5c) and in the summer will switch to recirc as it's more efficient to chill just the volume of cabin air. Once the desired temperature has been reached it will switch between recir and fresh to keep the cabin air 'fresh' in the mot energy efficient manner

Always check the oil level after the engine has been run up to operating temperature and then allowed to stand 10min after switching off.

LEXUS NX350H door handle button frozen

As was I.. I mentioned this to the service manager this morning, whilst examining the NX450 door handles. Yes there is a little rubber button on the rear of the grab handle. He reasoned this is because the handle itself does not move to release the door, which the other models do. The newer models now have e-lock an all electronic door lock/release system. Still not sure why Lexus as moved to this (older?) method, as was found on Mercedes cars iof 20yrs ago and they were fraught with problems. If the button simply energises the electronic release, why cannot the hall effect system used in my RX (and presumably your GS) energise the same e-lock system? Could it be the shortage of IC chips? Just seems a step backwards IMHO -

I believe the panic button is a North America option only -
Just to be clear (see what I did there?) the a/c will not be functioning at temperatures below approx 5c to prevent the condenser from freezing. If the climate control is set to Auto everything it will switch to outside air, erm, automatically. I will switch on the front screen demist as I switch on the rear screen and external mirrors defogger, leaving the climate set to Auto. That way the front screen demists quickly as the engine warms up. Pulling the sun visors down will help by trapping the air to the screen. I'm ready to drive away by the time I've scrapped the frost from the outside of the windows. I then switch off the rear screen defogger and turn on the heated steering wheel to warm my hands! The Climate Concierge has already switched on the heated seat 👍

Heated nozzles are available on the RX, no idea on the grade but my handbook states they come on at temperatures below 5c. I've not suffered from frozen nozzles on my F-Sport with Takumi pack.

I've noticed the same in my RX but only on the first morning of a cold snap. Really heavy condensation on the windscreen and the panoramic roof. Subsequent mornings, nothing to note really, just a gentle fogging that disappears very quickly. I wonder if it's down to the relatively large cabin volume? All cars will have a level of humidity in the cabin air and when the temp drops dramatically it has to condense somewhere (thankfully just on the windows!)?

Automatic Full Beam

As it states in the handbook, this is a driver's aide but one should not rely on it. That said the adaptive high beam in my 2020 RX works very well and I would say getting flashed is the exception. I did enquire of my dealer if the AHB system could be coded differently, as for the EU market there are various other settings but alas once the car is coded for the UK these extra settings are not available. This is for my model/year, it may have changed on later models, always worth a chat with your dealer. -
HB3 led bulbs

As Colin says, that would be an MoT fail ... "Existing halogen headlamp units on vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986 must not be converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp for light source and lamp not compatible." https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles/4-lamps-reflectors-and-electrical-equipment#section-4-1-4 Don't be inconsiderate and blind oncoming drivers! You can improve the light levels legally by fitting upgraded halogen lamps (I was always told Lamps glow and bulbs grow...) such as Osram Nightbreakers. Although don't expect them to last as long as standard lamps. -
Buy any recognised name brand, it'll make no difference, short infrequent journeys will kill any battery. You might be better prepared by purchasing and using a maintenance charger (e.g. CTEX) to keep the battery in serviceable condition.
