  1. Welcome to "real world economy"... The cold weather and high speed will knock the mpg down.
  2. Manufacturer and programmers trying to shift responsibility?
  3. Yes, Mother ... 😎 One of my real favourites, an uber cool 60's cult series
  4. Yes, it's called Darwinian selection ...
  5. That's what I said .. or at least ment
  6. And that £40k is the OTR price, including options, before any discounts...
  7. Perhaps not in Scandinavian countries where wind chill could freeze the blades to the screen while driving? Admittedly not much use in the UK,
  8. Until they can demonstrate robots are self-determinating, that is modifying their behaviour beyond that expected from their programming, then surely the persons programming them should be held responsible?
  9. "MEPs have voted to propose granting legal status to robots, categorising them as “electronic persons” and warning that new legislation is needed to focus on how the machines can be held responsible for their “acts or omissions”. " Tesla cars to be next??? https://www.google.com/amp/www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/robots-eu-vote-electronic-persons-european-union-ai-artificial-intelligence-a7527106.html%3Famp#a-2a1f929b-4706-450a-90d5-d88765eb23e3
  10. Does the man not comprehend that the manufacturer has factored in the increase in temperature and pressure in setting their cold inflation figures???? Does he genuinely believe he and he alone has discovered this apparent flaw in the recommended tyre pressures???
  11. Could it be a key recognition issue? The fact the seat and wheel adjustment doesn't happen automatically? Perhaps new key fob battery needed?
  12. If the car has a 'Gross train weight' on the chassis plate then it is type approved for towing. If not there it's not legal to tow...
  13. As I posted in this thread .... The manufacturer's recommended pressures take the heat expansion into account. It would be impossible for Joe Public to inflate their tyres to the operational temperature. It's well known under inflation is the more dangerous scenario as tyre sidewall flexes excessively and overheats the tyre with possible disastrous consequences. Over inflated tyres will simply wear prematurely and give a hard ride. Because they are harder the tyre wall won't flex so much so overheating isn't a problem. Tyre pressure is a function of axle weight so it is recommended to maintain the front to rear differential or handling could be compromised. Bottom line, I'll stick with the pressure recommended by the manufacturer and listed in the handbook. It's stood me in good stead this last 40+ years....

  15. On the Merc the control box was mounted on the rear edge of the front cross member.
  16. Leave the a/c on and on Auto I find is the best setting. Check your carpets for damp, lift them in the foot wells to check the underneath. Check the windscreen scuttle drains are clear of leaf debris and the water flows away quickly. When was the cabin pollen filter last changed? Check to see if it is damp.
  17. Ha.. Link keeps reverting to Amazon UK.... I certainly didn't pay that much! I ordered directly from Amazon in the USA and paid £70 for two covers, including postage and import taxes. Arrived in 4 days ...
  18. I bought a couple of these 'easy-on, easy-off' covers for my RC, just for when I'm in my scruffy clothes. I didn't want anything fitted, so these work a treat. Easy to wash as well https://www.amazon.com/Seat-Armour-SA100LXSBE-Black-Protector/dp/B00L51X5FK
  19. I'll certainly give that a go next time out, thanks! ETA .. Just read the handbook and I think you've got it spot on... "If the shift lever is in a position other than P when turning off the hybrid system, the power switch will be turned to ACCESSORY mode, not to off."
  20. Never had a problem being understood in the Merc, perhaps my German heritage helped?? I was impressed with the Lexus VC, worked 'straight out of the box'
  21. It's my sympathy for things mechanical rather than my getting used to it.. Far too much unnecessary switching and motors moving
  22. ^^^^ this exactly. That steering wheel motor is going to work harder than really necessary!
