Having examined the shocks fitted there is no justification for the extortionate prices charged for them by Lexus. If they were half the price they are they would still not be reasonably priced. I know of no other so called pressigious car that has both front and rear consistant early failure of it's suspension.

How about Mercedes and it's ABC hydraulic suspension struts? Failure not uncommon at 50k miles and looking at £1k per corner minimum.

Lexus or any other marque don't have to justify their prices, you pay or walk. As they are still a profitable concern is guess most people pay. Many are returning customers 

Sonunds like good business sense. Owner spends on Lexus services and gets a few £k better px, balances out for the dealership. 

Prospective owner goes for an approved used and gets a serviced car with warranty.

I see now how you've made the comparisons. Yes peculiar, some of these corporate machinations but they must fulfil some global target. The point regarding spares support could be very relevant..

"Over priced" only when making an invalid comparison? What would it cost to purchase and import such a model? 

Lexus sell massively more cars in the USA, their relative ranking in the luxury market is, I suspect, somewhat lower than here in the UK and that would be mostly due to the cost of said models. 

I feel Lexus wish to maintain their status here and can afford to 'loose' sales in the UK in the knowledge they can shift the numbers in the States. 

I've always thought it a fuitile excercise to check prices across markets, just leads to disappointment...

My only experience of my Lexus dealer (Swindon) has been the purchase and handover of my new RC. I can honestly say they have been everything I expected from a luxury marque. First rate. Considerate, communicative, accommodating. Yes, I realise this stage of interaction is about getting my custom and money ..... If they turn out anything close to MB Swindon in respect to customer service I'll be very happy

Would it be the HOLD function is different from the HSA function? I don't have any button or setting to make, the HSA just operates, stopping the car from rolling back?

I attended many Mercedes meets over the years and as you say, it does add an extra dimension both to ownership and forum interactions..

Looking forward to my first Lexus meet

According to my handbook for the RC300h HSA does operate in reverse..

Operating conditions of hill-start assist control
When the following four conditions are met, the hill-start assist control will operate:
● The shift lever is in a position other than P or N (when starting off forward/backward on
an upward incline).
● The vehicle is stopped.
● The accelerator pedal is not depressed.
● The parking brake is not engaged.
■ Automatic system cancelation of hill-start assist control
The hill-start assist control will turn off in any of the following situations:
● The shift lever is moved to P or N.
● The accelerator pedal is depressed.
● The parking brake is engaged.
● Approximately 2 seconds elapse after the brake pedal is released.

More likely to be from the RC, as it's already 2 door and stiff enough chassis..

The interior choices are white, black or red.

And now also 'Clove' for the interior, which I have to go with the Sonic Red exterior

I had a SEAT Alhambra with 5% tints, all round bar windscreen. At night had to drop the side windows to see safely when negotiating junctions or reversing. Never again....

Agreed. This is my first exposure to this type of automatic transmission, coming from the common brake-band/clutch type. The eCVT is so smooooth, then add the artificially created ratios in Sport mode, best of both worlds.

Plus must be more reliable, easily maintained considering there's no engaging, disengaging  of cogs or friction bands 

If it's like the Mercedes fob the PCB slides out of the housing. Care needed inserting a thin blade to release the retaining tab.

Sounds like the old fashioned manual mirrors that 'dipped' literally by tilting slightly, going dark as the reflecting surface looked downward. Slightly updated by incorporating liquid crystal and electronics to dip both mirrors when driver touches the button on the mirror?

Erm, your car seems to have fallen over .... 

Do the door mirrors demist? Could it be a fuse feeding the rear window heater element has failed?

Does it not become sticky when it dries out? Certainly does around the nozzle of the Fairy Liquid bottle...

Personally I would want A diagnosis done using the Lexus system. That's a lot of money to be guessing..
