    My apologies Linas, I was still thinking of the MB system where the light sensor is mounted high up on the screen behind the RVM. and is purely for the headlamp function. Yes, just checked my RC and the Lexus sensor is mounted on the dashboard top.

    Surely one could simply disconnect the sensor? I know in the Mercedes, if the sensor goes faulty the lights come on with the ignition. I'd suggest disconnecting the windscreen mounted light sensor. Both my MBs and my current Lexus have separate sensors for cabin/dashboard illumination and the auto headlamp function. The two Mercedes I had both had a headlamp Constant On function (in addition to auto setting) which did as Linas mentions, headlamps on as soon as Ign on.

    You could use gravel, just underlay with the interlocking stabilising grids. Stop the gravel migrating to the road and edges.

    Except that the high beam would scatter light terribly in the fog negating any benefit from the fog lamps?

    Autoglym SRP is good at masking swirls but it needs topping off with a good wax to last any length of time. EGP is ok but my preference is Collinite 915

    The inference from peachy's answer is the engine mapping. Get a bespoke remap and dyno session to reshape the power and torque curves. As others have already had this done there may well be an "off the shelf" map available, tested and proven?

    The obvious answer is the Lexus dealership parts dept, have you enquired their cost?

    As far as I've been lead to believe, this will simply fool the car into thinking the accelerator has been pressed harder. Changing the throttle response. It will do nothing to the engine power or mapping. Save your money and just put your foot down...

    The only 'maintenance' I did on my previous cars was to remove the wheels to swap to winters and back again. Used a thick marine ply sheet to place the jack on. Worked fine. But yes, lost a few valve dust caps before now...

    Gravel (river pebble) IMHO is the best. Easily maintained with an occasional rake over. Great early warning system. Any air bourne weeds are easily removed.

    A colleague had a patterned concrete driveway, resin sealed, looked very smart. Stayed looking smart for many years to! Must be laid by someone who knows what they are doing though, or you'll be looking at a mess for years....

    Covers on and bonnet shut. I don't intend to open it except to refill the screen wash ...

    As there would be a cost involved in designing and supplying an engine cover, I'd bet there is a good reason for having it there. Certainly not just cosmetic. Your average driver doesn't lift the bonnet just to admire the engine. Noise reduction, heat retention, air flow control. ....

    Check to see if you need planning permission as new hard surface driveways increase rainwater run off and require drainage.

    Gone are the days when tyre width exceeded BHP. I was always advised never to have more grip than one could break with engine power.

    Curious as to why just the one panel is faded? Faded paint restoration usually requires removal of the oxidised layer, so a cutting compound followed by a polish and sealer is required. Back 'in the day' one would use T-Cut and Simoniz .. Now I would give the Meguiar's range a look.

    Handbook advises a damp cloth moistened with 5% wool detergent in water. Wipe clean with another damp cloth and clean water. Automotive leather is coated so conditioners are pointless and can make the surface sticky and attract dirt and grit. A water based proprietary cleaner such as Dr. Leather wipes are a convenient, if slightly expensive, alternative. Also leaves a pleasant (subjective) aroma of new leather.
