  1. In the setup menu for the Nav system one can turn off route selection, or set a default. If you don't have a manual for the Nav system you can download a PDF version from the Lexus customer portal
  2. The MoT history doesn't read like a car well looked after...
  3. Perhaps provide a link to the ebay sale, would enable others to better judge the car?
  4. As is calling it a slouch.... All subjective opinions. Not picking a fight Linas but you need to be a little less defensive about your posts. I appreciate your point of view and value your input, you don't need to try justifying it.
  5. Mid range acceleration is strong in the RC300h but getting off the line, it's no slouch either. Accelerating from ~70mph to 90+mph was a breeze, no struggle and no thrashing to be heard! I was comparing the RC with my old CLS55 and at 80-90mph it is pulling lower revs than the big V8. The e-CVT is a constantly meshed set of planetary and axial gears, so much better than the belt driven CVT of old (remember the DAFmatic?). Changing the torque input from the various motors changes the output ratio, very clever electricery can make those changes step-wise, giving the illusion of slipping a different cog in the box. The e-CVT must be so much more efficient than the old brake-band version of autobox and (hopefully) far more robust and reliable
  6. Well I've not driven a car with the new multistage CVT but I can say the e-CVT in the RC when in Sport mode does feel like it's changing gears and it must be some how as the engine revs rise and fall as one would expect. Using the paddle shifters, especially if the selector lever is in S mode, also brings definite gears. I guess it's all to do with the TCM adjusting the ratio of ICE to MG1 to MG2 inputs. Damn fine piece of engineering, so much simpler than the normal brake band operated autoboxes and so much less to go wrong.
  7. The speed and range of movement is greatest when adjusting at start-up
  8. No thrashy engine in the RC300h. In 'Normal' mode one cannot really discern the revs, just a very faint purr. If I accelerate firmly, nothing changes, just the urge forward increases. When in 'Sport' or 'Sport+' modes one can see, via the rev counter, the revs rise and fall as the car accelerates through the 'gears'. The ACS makes a fair fist at introducing a sporty note. It's the one thing I was rather trepidatious about after reading reviews of cars with CVT but I must admit the RC has allayed any fears. I'm rather impressed
  9. 40mpg is the running average since I took delivery. Instantaneous readings can be as low as 16mpg and at then when on electric, the maximum display reading of 60mpg. No surprises really, the hybrid is more efficient around town, sub 30mph. The car is very stable, even when close to it's electronically limited top speed..
  10. I'm not shouting? THIS IS SHOUTING!! And I agree, I would go with the V8, that car deserves the aural symphony that a big V8 brings (or should!)
  11. What screaming hybrid? "World's first 10-speed Multi Stage Hybrid transmission" If it's anything like the e-CVT in my RC there is no 'screaming' but smooth seamless progress, or in Sport mode very realistic 6 gears with rising and falling revs.
  12. I believe one can use Google Maps with the Lexus Premium Nav system, via connected services?
  13. Weather and the fact I've only just completed 2000 miles is the reason for my late acquaintances with the RC'c sportier side. That said I've used Sport mode a lot on my extra urban drives, just not so enthusiastically. A couple of 200 mile trips has assured me of the car's touring abilities. I'm sure the mpg will increase as the engine loosens up and take better advantage of the hybrid system.
  14. No, they just spin the other way round...
  15. Sun shining, car cleaned (everyone knows a car drives better when freshly cleaned ) and the roads dry so took the opportunity to explore the RC's sporty side on my favourite test route, used many times in my AMG. I have to say I'm very impressed Switching to Sport drive mode brings a much snappier throttle response and putting the gear selector into Sport gives a realistic manual change mode, enabling a sort of 'kick-down' in preparation for overtaking. The RC may be way down in power compared with my old CLS55 but I was still able to attack corners with gusto. The RC definitely handles better than the air-sprung CLS, exhibiting virtually zero body roll in the bends. The straights feel somewhat longer, obviously, with the reduced power but using the 'gears' gives a strong push in the back. Switching to the Sports+ drive mode stiffens up the suspension considerably, steering is very direct and responsive but on some of the B roads is a little too hard, deflecting the car in bumpy corners. I have to say the different drive and transmission modes do transform the car's character. Far more than other cars I've experienced. It's like having three cars in one. A smooth relaxed urban cruiser, a sporty, comfortable long distance tourer and a sporty A/B road warrior. No, it won't out-pace the usual Merc, VW and BMW competition but hey, the RC looks waaay better at any speed, even parked Forgot to add, all this and I'm getting a real world 40mpg, what's not to like?
  16. As said in the hybrid the 12v battery only powers the entry system and computers until the hybrid system starts, then it is recharged from the hybrid batteries. Unlocking the car etc and checking the voltage will put a drain on the 12v battery.
  17. Was the hybrid system On? My understanding is the 12v battery only powers the entry system and various operating modules until the hybrid system starts and takes over all electrical duties.
  18. If you turn off in any gear other than Park it will go directly to ACC mode. Useful for continued listening. You can move the selector to Park once ACC mode acknowledged.
  19. Nice! I'd loose the 'F' badge on the rear though, it's a 300H not an IS-F. Is it truely a 4 wheel drive as stated in the advertisement vehicle summary??? Might look good slightly lowered as well IMHO
  20. As above, make sure you scroll to the bottom of the Connected Services menu screen, Change user Name and Password is the penultimate option in the list
  21. You must have inputted your username and password somewhere in the settings at some point, just repeat with the new ones?
  22. Do you leave the hybrid system On or have you switched to Accessory mode?
  23. I believe one simply enters the new user name and password and saves that in the Connected Services menu in the Nav menu?
