  1. As our experiences seem to differ even on the same vehicle types, it may well have a lot to do with how each modulates the brakes. It's certainly not something I'm going to bother trying to eradicate by swapping pads and discs ....
  2. Standard with Premium Nav
  3. You have to have such confidence to simply grip and pull trim out like that!! I'd be so scared of something snapping ...
  4. Mine is a hybrid and I can see why the brakes groan, simply because they get so little use and there is the inevitable transfer of pad material onto the disc, which never gets hot enough to burn off. Stopping from speed simply engages the regenerative braking force. So, unless one requires an emergency stop the pad and disc don't come into play until virtually at rest. None of my other cars has ever had groaning brakes certainly not just crawling in traffic where there is so little friction and no heat but any pad transfer was burnt off on the next stop from speed. The AMG suffered the same as my hybrid but that's because the brakes were rated for such high speed and repeated stops that pootling around town never got them warm. A couple of mega-stops sorted it out though
  5. Nothing to do with being automatic but all about being a hybrid?
  6. Common with hybrids as the brakes get very little use normally. I've never experienced it in any other automatic I've driven except my AMG.
  7. At hand-over. I did but couldn't really check much as the car was still wrapped in protection film and of course the dealership hadn't done their PDI. I and I expect everyone does, had unlimited time to look over the car at the hand-over. The car was fully prep'd, covered and in it's own showroom. There was the big reveal and I could inspect the car in complete privacy prior to being shown all the gadgets and gizmos..
  8. Double, triple check your login credentials. are you able to login to the portal ok and create saved routes to send to the car? With the portal end sorted and working the next thing is in the car. There are a myriad of settings to make in numerous, apparently disjointed, menus. Do you have tethering enabled on your phone?
  9. I use a Nexus 6p and Connected services works well on my 2016 RC300h. I use bluetooth and have enabled the hotspot function on the phone. It automatically connects with the car as I enter. My stored routes, created on the Lexus portal auto download. On first setting this up I kept getting the ID=00 error, turned out to be my mistake as I kept entering my username incorrectly, omitting a punctuation mark... You must correctly identify your Navigation unit on the portal, entering it's ID number to register the unit on the portal.
  10. MPH and KPH units will be a region specific coding, so I'm guessing one would have to recode to a region that uses imperial units, UK or USA
  11. Is this on a UK spec car?
  12. This Lexus pdf may be of interest. http://www.lexus-tech.eu/qrg/pdf/lxs/en/Lexus-qrg-en.pdf
  13. I'm sure I read somewhere Lexus estimate if one uses the hotspot option 2hrs a day one would use approx 6MB a month, or something similar. I do recall it being a trivial amount. I don't have unlimited data and have not noticed any significant increase in my data usage.
  14. It's where one's mobile phone is used as a internet hotspot for the NAV system. Enables live traffic info, parking data etc.. It also allows the car to communicate with the Lexus portal. From the handbook.. The following services are available by connecting the system to Lexus portal site via the internet using a cellular phone or Wi-Fi® network. 􀁺 Online search: New establishments, such as restaurants, bars etc., that are not registered in the system, can be set as a destination. 􀁺 Importing memory points and routes: Establishments that were searched using a personal computer can be set as a destination and can be registered as memory points. 􀁺 Street View: The Street View of the desired location can be viewed. 􀁺 Panoramio: User’s pictures, comments and other information can be viewed on a map.
  15. It is a speed camera alert but only for fixed camera locations, not for vans. I've found it very accurate. I have Connected services set up on my Premium Nav, so I don't know if this it more up to date? I've not found any reference to the alert in any of the handbooks and found no settings in the Nav menus
  16. It was a itch that had to be scratched ... Always wanted a V8 and being supercharged was a bonus. Just wanted something different and the RC is certainly that! Could have gone with the RC-F but been there done that V8 thing, so chose the hybrid and am loving it
  17. Get Carista OBD2, it can do most if not all the customisations, plus diagnostics http://www.caristaapp.com/
  18. Register here and all the service info is listed for your model http://www.lexus-tech.eu/Default.aspx
  19. After 10yrs with Lexus you will find the AMG a very different animal. I absolutely loved my CLS55, what a brute of a car! "A thug in a silk dressing gown" as Clarkson called it. Do let us know how you get on, first impressions and all .....
  20. No mention in my handbooks either and I haven't found any settings on the Nav system to enable/disable the alerts. The alerts sound irrespective of what function is active on the system (Premium Nav), so I'd guess if you have it you would have heard it by now?
  21. From the Gov website "New vehicles with a list price of more than £40,000 If a vehicle has a list price (the published price before any discounts) of more than £40,000, the rate of tax is based on CO2 for the first year. After the first year, the rate depends on the type of vehicle (petrol, diesel, alternative fuel or zero emissions) and an additional rate of £310 a year for the next 5 years. After those 5 years, the vehicle will then be taxed at one of the standard rates (£140, £130, or £0, depending on vehicle type)." https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-vehicle-tax-rates-from-1-april-2017
  22. Have they thoroughly cleaned the hub to disc faces each time? Majority of 'warped' discs are in fact run-out because of corrosion or debris caught between hub and disc. That said after fitting 2 sets of new discs and pads on my SEAT and not curing a vibration I didn't have before fitting, the dealer gave up and checked the service advice only to discover that SEAT recommend replacing the hubs! Cured the vibration....
  23. Yup, I've noticed the EV mode cutting in very quickly and far more frequently since it's warmed up ...
  24. Don't tell me, tell the OP
  25. So, it shows nothing under the Specifications tab but identifies the car has two recalls under the Campaign tab?
