  1. Setting the Road Preferences on the Nav system to avoid motorways appears to also avoid trunk roads, 'A' roads that are dualled. Has anyone else noticed this?
  2. Been there, done that with the red interior... Rather liking my Clove leather now...
  3. The ABS pump can and does run when stationary, it must maintain a set pressure in the reservoir. I can hear mine, usually just after stopping, sometimes when crawling in traffic, as there is no engine noise. It only runs for 3 or 4 seconds at a time though with very long periods of silence between. I would be mightily surprised if there weren't error codes stored from a malfunctioning pump, it's a critical safety component after all ... In the Mercedes certain models had electrically driven brake pressure systems and there the pump would 'time-out' after a preset number of brake applications, somewhere in the region of 300,000. Cars approaching this end-of-service-life would have the warning come up that the pump had to be changed. I wonder if the Lexus system has a similar service life?
  4. Probably something to do with how the camera creates the jpeg file conversion.
  5. Weather's looking good for the Sunday Just might rock up a little early and indulge in one of these or maybe .. and definitely
  6. Yes, get them to check first but it is possible for the alignment to be correctly set but with the steering centre biased to one side. Only takes a small extra turn on one side's trackrod end to register at the steering wheel. Been there, done that ...
  7. If you car system works similarly to mine the Parking Assist display can be switched to off, check the setting in the Park Assist menu Also the front sensors operate differently depending on whether reversing or travelling forward. From my handbook - ■ The Lexus parking assist-sensor can be operated when ● Front center sensors: • The power switch is in ON mode. • The shift lever is in a position other than P or R. • The vehicle speed is less than about 10 km/h (6 mph). ● Front corner sensors: • The power switch is in ON mode. • The shift lever is in a position other than P. • The vehicle speed is less than about 10 km/h (6 mph). (At any speed when the shift lever is in R) ● Rear corner and rear center sensors: • The power switch is in ON mode. • The shift lever is in R. ■ Lexus parking assist-sensor display When an obstacle is detected while the rear view monitor system is in use, the warning indicator will appear in the top right of the screen even if the display setting has been set to off.
  8. Usual reason for an off centre steering wheel is front alignment is off, or has been adjusted one-sided. Simply dropping off a curb or hitting a pothole can knock the alignment out enough to register at the 'wheel. Get the tracking checked?
  9. In my car the a/c settings are registered to the electronic key. If my wife changes the settings they are automatically put back to my prefered settings everytime I unlock the car.
  10. Just thinking of the oil and exhaust, all that condensation not being driven off?
  11. I would take every opportunity to drive an IS-F, as I do my RC300h but a 1 mile commute?? A brisk walk or gentle cycle surely, much better all round?
  12. My RC300h gets up to operating temp (going by the water temp gauge) within 2mls, even in winter (only had the car 6months!) My CLS55 would get up to operating temp within 2-3 miles in summer approx 5miles in winter. That's a supercharged 5ltr V8 and 11yrs old That all said, I don't think a 5 mile commute is going to do any ICE any favours long term
  13. Agree totally, it's one of those modern fads that we really don't need if, as you say, routine tyre pressure checks are done and I for one am always checking the pressure and condition of my tyres. TPMS won't for instance, tell you if you have a bulge in the sidewall from hitting a pothole... But TPMS is now legally required on cars from a certain year. Can Lexus cars be coded to use a software version, taking information from the ABS sensors?
  14. Surely subverting the function is illegal? Why do it, just to save some money? It's all part and parcel of owning a vehicle.
  15. In the handbook it shows the actual image, not the camera icon when selecting the file to copy over. It appears the car cannot recognise the file. Can you post a screen capture of the contents of the USB? i.e. the file listing with extensions?
  16. Can one not have the TPMS coded out using Techstream? That said, doesn't a car after a certain model year require some form of tyre pressure warning, to comply with EU regs and type approval?
  17. 15000 miles a year is 10000 miles in 8 months. So as rayaans says 1yr or 10k miles whichever comes first. It's every 8 months for a car that does 15k/yr, not 8 months for your model/yr car. If you don't manage the 10k miles in the 8 months the service will be due as soon as you do, irrespective of the number of months or in 12 months, whatever the mileage.
  18. Mercedes have been doing this since before 2005 and very effective it is to, do high miles with lots of long runs and one can extend the service interval easily by 50%. Just pootle around town and you'll be 12 months max, irrespective of mileage. All done on measuring the conductance of the oil. As contamination increases so does the conductance. Couple this with the number of starts over time and average engine loading, creates the variable service interval.
  19. I doubt many, if any, franchised dealers actually fit windscreens themselves. They would call in their prefered specialist company, e.g. AutoGlass Going through Lexus, letting them organise the fitting, at least gives one the added comfort knowing that they would sort any non glass related/secondary issues
  20. Just checked the configurator and GS-F in Sonic Silver is there.. https://carconfig.lexus.co.uk/gb/en/?GS/edcc1082-51ec-44a2-8b7a-fb99504082ad/configure
  21. Probably been posted before but this might be of interest
  22. And one would have Lexus responsible for any issues that may arise ...
