  1. Try Direct Line, I pay £180/yr Yes, I'm (cough) just a bit older than you (cough) but worth a call. Or use their online quote form..
  2. My 2016 RC has the auto-locking feature. What was the safety issue they had with the 3RX?
  3. Curious that the options to auto-unlock are there but nothing to auto-lock?
  4. In the scheme of things, it's minor. You're not paying £440 now because of metallic paint but because the Government changed the tax rules. All part and parcel of owning a (new) car..
  5. @Linas.P Don't you believe it, there are many posts on other fora regarding being done for excessive acceleration. Yes, there is no specific offense as such but it's lumped under driving without due care etc. etc.. It's only a matter of time before such antics get noticed and stamped on.
  6. Hard or excessive acceleration can get one pulled by the Police, it's not just excessive speed.
  7. Juddering as described is usually attributable to pad material deposited on the disc, or possibly due to corrosion. Try a couple of high speed hard stops (where safe to do so) and see if this clears the judder. I've had no problem moderating the regen braking to give a smooth stop
  8. The manual does state that when using shift ranges in D it only really used for deccelerating (engine braking), try it when in S and see if it stays longer. The manual states when in Sport mode one can use shift ranges for increased accelerating force..
  9. Any of these criteria apply? (from the owner's handbook Automatic deactivation of shift range selection in the D position Shift range selection in the D position will be deactivated in the following situations: ● When the vehicle comes to a stop ● If the accelerator pedal is depressed for more than a certain period of time ●When the shift lever is shifted to a position other than D I imagine you accelerated for more than the accepted period of time?
  10. Really, is £310/yr for 4yrs a deal breaker when spending £40k??
  11. Expectation has a lot to do with these surveys.... If one doesn't spend much on a car one can 'forgive' it's failings.
  12. One can 'force' the car into EV mode from a cold start, as long as one presses the EV button before the ICE starts up, usually within 5 sec of the system start. From experience the range is very limited, perhaps a couple of hundred metres before the car cancels EV mode automatically. Just far enough for me to sneak off when on an early start 😉
  13. Groaning brakes is a common thing on hybrids, as they aren't worked hard due to regenerative braking at higher speeds. No harm in getting them checked though
  14. In the RC (and every other car I've had with auto-dim) the sensors for the auto-dim function are located front and back of the rearv-view mirror. The system operates on a difference in the relative light intensities hitting the sensors. More light falling on the rear facing sensor (something not normally the case as it's facing into the cabin) as in from the following car's headlamps, triggers the dim To test if the system is working correctly carefully cover the forward facing sensor, the mirrors should dim. Shining a bright lamp into the rear facing sensor sometimes works but it's more difficult to see the effect.
  15. I can get approximately 1.5 miles max at 25-30mph on EV only, when the ICE is warm.
  16. It doesn't react quickly enough to dim a flash
  17. Do the headlamps of the following cars dazzle you? I've noticed the auto-dim mirrors in my RC are quite subtle, compared with those in my Mercedes but I'm not dazzled and can actually see rearward quite well.
  18. I'd guess some are double cone speakers?
  19. Looks like a rather tired taxi ... Leather on rear seats quite worn, as is the driver's bolster. Paintwork badly swirled, wheel kerbed. And who puts a steering wheel cover on a 40k miles car??
  20. Stub axles are the only parts that don't change height above the road. All other bits of the car are supported by the springs and they determine the ride height.
  21. Yes, if only to prevent discharging the battery too much.
  22. I love the analogue clock in my RC
  23. I'd never come out or see the light of day again...
