  1. Further info regarding discontinuation of cruise function, point #1 is quite interesting, wonder under what circumstances that might happen? ■ Automatic cruise control cancelation Cruise control is automatically canceled in any of the following situations. ● Actual vehicle speed falls more than approximately 16 km/h (10 mph) below the set speed. ● Actual vehicle speed is below approximately 40 km/h (25 mph). ● VSC is activated. ● TRC is activated for a period of time. ● When the VSC or TRC system is turned off by pressing the VSC OFF switch.
  2. From approx 25mph for me also. From the handbook ... Do not use cruise control in any of the following situations. Doing so may result in loss of control and could cause an accident resulting in death or serious injury. ● In heavy traffic ●On roads with sharp bends ● On winding roads ● On slippery roads, such as those covered with rain, ice or snow ●On steep hills Vehicle speed may exceed the set speed when driving down a steep hill. ● During emergency towing
  3. Which is very much not an IS-F. This thread is in the wrong sub-forum.....
  4. But in your opening post you said you tried 5 other models and they all did the same as your car? Now you're saying you took out a courtesy car and it worked as you expected it should.... Curious. The handbook clearly states cruise control will not maintain the set speed on a steep downhill gradient. Only my CLS55 with radar cruise would use the brakes to keep the speed down. My C class with standard cruise didn't.
  5. Which type of cruise control do you have? Is it the 'standard' cruise or the radar controlled cruise? If it's the standard version the car cannot reduce speed, so as the car gathers speed on the descent it will simply go faster. The cruise is still SET and operational and once at the bottom of the hill and the car starts to slow, it will apply the throttle to keep the speed as set. The radar controlled cruise can if I'm understanding it correctly, reduce the cars speed to match that of the car in front (detected by the radar) and apply brakes to bring the speed down. It would also be able to do this when the car gathers speed down hill. ETA - just read the owner's handbook for my RC and there it states that even with Dynamic radar cruise speed may exceed that set when descending steep hills. I think your car is behaving as designed, you may be expecting too much from the cruise function?
  6. 5 other models do the same, do not a fault as such. When you say you engage cruise just before going down a slope, I presume you are on the flat? Can you describe exactly what it is you are doing when the function refuses to engage?
  7. You would need access to Techstream, so a dealership or well equipped (and knowledgeable) independent. But I don't think that's your problem. In fact I don't think you have a problem, going by the consumption figures table above.
  8. Adaptions usually are related with the transmission ECU, certainly wrt Mercedes. The TCM will adapt to one's driving style, adjusting shift points to be more efficient..
  9. From the EU spec sheet, you could just be seeing normal variation, plus your driving style may be impacting consumption? Fuel consumption simulation based on the European type of traffic (mileage) extra-urban / city / highway / average combined: l/100km: 9.1-10.9 / 16.4-19.7 / 8.8-10.6 / 13 mpg (imp.): 25.9-31 / 14.3-17.2 / 26.7-32.1 / 21.8 mpg (U.S.): 21.5-25.8 / 11.9-14.3 / 22.2-26.7 / 18.1 km/l: 9.2-11 / 5.1-6.1 / 9.5-11.4 / 7.7
  10. Putting the (IMHO) stunning looks to one side, I think the real jewel is the e-CVT transmission, it just does the job so well, very refined and smooth. Plus, twist the selector to Sport and one gets a very convincing conventional gear box. Best of both worlds. Throw in the much simpler mechanics, it should be very reliable. Not something that can be said for a certain German marque's auto-boxes...
  11. No nose prints on my RC's glass. The dog knows how to behave! He sits quietly or more often, lays across the rear, nose close to, but never touching, the rear cabin A/C vents. Yes, there will be hairs to vacuum away once I remove the hammock cover and blanket but then I'd be vacuuming the rear anyway once passengers vacate
  12. Does the GS not have provision to fit a roof mounted system? Are there small rectangular sections in the roof, near the edges above each door?
  13. We travel with our yellow Labrador. He sits, or should say sprawls across the rear seats. He wears a harness clipped into the seat belt buckle. I cover the seats and center divider with thick blanket, topped off with a waterproof hammock style cover.
  14. Whatever it's heritage, the chassis is very stiff and coming from the CLS55 it certainly doesn't feel heavy. Quite nimble in fact. No, it's no sports car but still very "chuckable" Oh, the running average mpg is now 46
  15. Ebay? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1997-2000-Toyota-Celsior-Lexus-LS400-Clear-Side-Marker-Turn-Signal-Light/222593472358
  16. Just tried this on the long hill down to my home. Yes, when using the paddles to invoke engine braking the energy meter goes into regen but only briefly, as if the car is slowing to match road speed to engine revs, which then rise and the regen diminishes to that which one sees when simply coasting on the flat. Using the brakes to slow down the descent produces a much larger and constant deflection in to the regen zone.
  17. Autoglym HD didn't work for me, foamed up on in the bucket but died instantly when applied to the car. Also quite expensive per wash...
  18. Air vents look to be compromised, nice cool iPad but ..... No complaints from me regarding the 2016 premium Nav P.S. those ML knobs look so out of place...
  19. I had the Williams Ceramic coat applied, came with the usual bag of products. The shampoo was pretty lame, didn't last long before being replaced with some Meg's Shampoo Plus Excellent suds, very slick and a little goes an awfully long way! I finish off by aiding drying with microfibre by spraying the wet panel with Meg's Xpress spray wax. http://www.meguiars.co.uk/shop/ Result
  20. Surely you're losing one advantage of having a hybrid, regenerative braking? By 'touching' the brakes, one isn't actually using the pads and discs but the electric motors acting as generators, slowing the car and recharging the battery.
  21. Try Direct Line, I pay £180/yr Yes, I'm (cough) just a bit older than you (cough) but worth a call. Or use their online quote form..
  22. My 2016 RC has the auto-locking feature. What was the safety issue they had with the 3RX?
  23. Curious that the options to auto-unlock are there but nothing to auto-lock?
