Long gentle braking is good in the hybrid as it recharges the battery, using regen tech and not the discs and pads.

The new tyres may well have excessive run-out. Try swapping the tyres side to side and see if that changes it. Few if any tyre tech check and match the colour banding on new tyres.

The Bridgestones supplied with my new RC are quiet on smooth tarmac and they sing when on the rough cement surfaces (A30/A419) but they no worse than any other tyre I've experienced and a lot better than most. Tramlining is virtually non-existent, only on the heavily rutted motorways do they tug on the steering. I'm unsure no whether to replace with the same or go for my favourite Michelins. Still a way off that though so we'll see over the coming miles...

Actually thinking more on this, it would be the electronically controlled baking system that holds the car on a slope by locking the brakes on. One of the advantages of having a brake system pressurised by an electric pump rather than the normal vacuum servo assisted systems.

Presumably It uses the electric motor. No, my car will hold on a hill without the engine starting. The hill start assist function holds the car for a maximum of 2sec after the brake pedal is released, seems longer though.

My handbook states that without traction battery power the car will not move, it cannot function on petrol only.

Another good on, in which the presenter mentions the clutch damper assembly that mounts between the power split device and the engine. So to answer the OP's question, there is a clutch assembly that takes up the drive from the engine

I'm guessing it's similar to the AIRmatic system on Mercs and would expect the system needs to be cleared of errors and re-calibrated for ride height, using Techstream

To be honest, if I could find a product that enhanced the gloss and shine but caused sheeting rather than beading I'd definitely give it a go. At least the car would dry quickly and wouldn't leave water marks when it finally does dries. The difference between a hydrophobic and hydrophilic surface.... After all beading isn't an end in itself, simply an indicator of a well waxed surface and therefore protected surface..
