Motion sensitive keys to prevent relay attacks
NemesisUK replied to PDM's topic in Lexus Audio/Video/Electronics/Security
Many of the recent thefts have been via the Canbus so motion sensing keys wouldn't help. -
Chrysler fitted a record player back in the '50s Pretty sure I saw a player fitted in a British marque from the same time

Character '0' on VIN plate
NemesisUK replied to Lmafudd's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
You could use this website to give the YOM (plus other data on MoT history ect...) https://car-checking.com/home-vin?gclid=CjwKCAjw586hBhBrEiwAQYEnHayVKM4WdwiECBYV4UxHoZVn6dIIU1livm8iJBmzpvjQcZBOEMwH6BoCFDEQAvD_BwE Interestingly the official Toyota/Lexus.EU website doesn't provide the YOM when decoding the VIN but does give the complete build spec. https://www.lexus-tech.eu/Default.aspx -
Character '0' on VIN plate
NemesisUK replied to Lmafudd's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
All of my Lexus VIN have a zero in the 10th position. Keep in mind there is a difference in standards across the pond, the North American VIN is formatted differently from the EU/ROW VIN. I believe you are describing the NA format. -
ML is definitely superior to the standard audio. A facelift model has extra toys as standard and a slightly tweaked hybrid control which I found an improvement over the original setup. Personally I think it a shame to cover the fantastic (expensive) 5 stage paint finish so perhaps look for a standard black finish? Also double check with insurance that they will cover (pun intended 😉) the wrap as many now will not entertain the added expense of repair

Don't know what the neighbor's think
NemesisUK replied to ALAW's topic in Lexus UX250h / UX300h / UX300e Club
Turning the internal motion sensor off doesn't disable the main alarm, just the tilt and internal motion detection. If a door is opened without the fob the alarm should still sound and the immobiliser is also still active. -
Brembo might disagree with you on some point there Linas.. https://www.brembo.com/en/company/news/brembo-perforated-disc-5-reasons-for-purchasing Even on my CLS55 the braking system would intermittently, gently apply the pads to clear water from the discs if the windscreen wipers were in operation.. But that all said sticking bigger brakes on a car rarely improves the braking efficiency (on road going cars at least). If one can lock the wheels with the standard brakes, you'll not do better with bigger discs and pads alone. Plus there is a danger of creating an imbalance between the front and rear brake effect, also if larger pads are installed the increased effort required will not be met by the standard vacuum assistance. Oh and one's insurer might take a dim view on the modification...

Greased Lighting Clean and Shine
NemesisUK replied to John58's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h+ Club
I used their showroom shine for years on my Mercedes without detriment. I wouldn't use it to clean major winter muck but for light road dirt and summer dust it's very good. -
Access Lexus online service history
NemesisUK replied to Colinb623's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
The screen shot you shared doesn't look like any screen i recognise as logged in and verified. One should see Verified and Connected icons on the dashboard (home ) screen if using the web based portal. In the following screens there should be reference to the multimedia ID for your car. If using the mobile based app the home screen should show you linked car and registration number, in the next screen should be the current mileage displayed. I think the car hasn't been registered/verified correctly -

Log into your My Lexus account and select you're owned car and click on that car. The service history section is listed further down the page along with Vehicle settings, Shared location etc etc.. Have you verified your car and registered your multimedia system? -

Toshiba Car Insurance - Windscreen Damage.
NemesisUK replied to Tony1452's topic in Lexus IS 300h / IS 250 / IS 200t Club
Make sure they recalibrate any ADAS systems associated with the windscreen. Don't assume the wipers will operate correctly as every screen has a different transparency, get them to demonstrate correct operation -
From the Mercedes WIS (Workshop Information System) document regarding operation of the rear fog lamps.. (This was for vehicles manufactured in the first part of 2005, obviously the regs may have changed) "The rear SAM control module with fuse and relay module (N10/2) evaluates the signal pending in the CAN interior from the instrument cluster (A1) for the instantaneous ground speed and actuates the fog lamp (E4e5) as the ground speed < 60 km/h. In accordance with the German vehicle licensing regulations the operation of rear fog lamps in the Federal Republic of Germany is only permitted in fog, rain or snowfall with visibility of less than 50 m and with accordingly reduced vehicle speed. The ground speed dependent actuation serves to protect against any unintentional operation, if the driver e.g. after the poor visibility has improved increases speed, without switching off the rear fog lamps."

RC 4 stage paint madness
NemesisUK replied to andrey77's topic in Lexus RC Owners Club / RC 200t / RC 300h Club
I was quoted £1200 to correct a stone chip on the bonnet on my sonic red RC. The 5 stage paint is expensive to repair! -
Toshiba Car Insurance - Windscreen Damage.

Pretty sure any screen would be tougher than that. Cars (and their screens) go through far greater extremes of temperature than we owners are ever likely to experience. I'd suggest there was a flaw or damage existing prior to the cold weather.
