  1. Does look like a duff batch of shocks then. Surely all Lexus can do is replace both under warranty?
  2. Yes the rear wheels have stored rotation energy but their contribution is insignificant. The physics and real world experience can be quite different... but no less real.
  3. Follow the pressures as listed on the door pillar label.
  4. If the hybrid battery "goes bad" the ICE (internal combustion engine) will not function as all the electronics are powered via the hybrid (traction) battery.
  5. They don't need to destroy it but have to control how has access to it. Suppose it's simpler to just erase it.
  6. The Mercedes tech doc on replacing shock absorbers states only replace in pairs if the mileage is greater than 80,000 km unless the part number for the component has been superseded, in which case both must be replaced irrespective of mileage. Curiously ABC (the active body control system) suspension components are never replaced as pairs as the plungers work "wear free"! It'll be interesting how Lexus deal with such a low mileage failure. If it failed due to a manufacturing fault, surely the second unit is at similar risk (bad batch?)
  7. Actually I'm not 100% sure I'm correct in the above. Thinking more on it, the force is being applied at the tyre/road interface and in the direction towards the rear of the car, in the opposite direction to the car's motion. So, is that then more correctly termed a pulling force?
  8. The 'push' force you are feeling is being applied by the seat back, which in turn is being pulled forward by the only genuine motive force, that being applied to the front wheels. Those wheels are ahead of the observer, the driver (and his seat) and so commonly described as a pulling force. But of course as we all know a true 'pulling' force is one that is applied to an object in the opposite direction to that object's direction of motion. A true pushing force is one that is applied in the same direction of that object's motion. So, strictly speaking a FWD car is still being 'pushed' down the road.
  9. I'll have to check my jabs are up to date ...
  10. Definitely get the suspension geometry checked. Possible thrust arm bent, track rod bent. Hopefully the rear suspension arms are ok
  11. Yes, always recommend a full geometry check/adjustment after lowering. Make sure they do the full four wheel measurement
  12. From the handbook, under 'Switches - ASC, Active Sound Control' "The ASC system is an electronic sound system that generates engine sound, conveying the kinetic situations of the vehicle’s acceleration and deceleration to the driver through the speakers inside the instrument panel. The vehicle’s response to the driver’s acceleration behavior and shift operations are also conveyed in sound. When sport mode is selected, the sound conveyed to the driver will be louder" Personally I find it highly entertaining 😉 bit like a Play Station driving simulator ...
  13. Just get the phone app instead, it works really well 👍
  14. The cream started working, should be fine by the meet 😉
  15. Is a humble battery car allowed to attend?
  16. Pretty sure that function (on Mercedes at least) was performed using IR rather than RF, one needs to point the fob at the driver's door handle?
  17. Available from your friendly Lexus dealer - part # PZ448-W3T5109 I have the touch-up kit here in front of me, curiously it has an expiry date of 08/18. I wonder what happens to it after that date??
  18. I've not experienced this and suggest it's not normal. Get the calipers and pads checked out.
  19. Sorry I was editting my post. I don't see the stickies as I said I just use the new content option. I concur with the post above regards newbies looking for information. I can see how it would be irksome if one uses Tapatalk or the like but again even on my mobile I just use the standard browser pages
  20. You didn't enlighten, I'm still curious? You appear uncharacteristically grumpy about something relatively trivial
  21. The point being until you posted this I'd never actually noticed any stickies, so thanks for the educational thread. How does this abundance of stickies affect your use/enjoyment of the forum? As with a quite large number of threads posted here, if I'm not interested I don't read them. Conversely there may well be those who appreciate a constant, easily found repository of model specs? So, I guessing but the administrators of the forum believe these stickies are useful and the consistency is in the fact they are all stickies. I've not checked (as I rarely view the entire forum) but do the stickies regarding meet-ups and such events, get 'un-stuck' once the event has passed?
  22. Lovely looking car, well done. Has the leather gone shiny or was it always glossy?
