  1. Oh and .. Dynamic seat pump @ £1000 New headlamps @ £1800 Engine mounts @ £600 Front torque arms and bushes @ £500 4x brake hoses and alarm siren @ £600 Passenger window motor @ £300 Transmission electro-plate and ball joint @ £600 (3 services at my MB indie totalling £1800)
  2. Doh!! Even so, over 20k miles of my ownership of the AMG my biggest cost was fuel, then tyres. Only one mechanical problem, failed wheel bearing covered under warranty.
  3. Toyota GT86 has a very good reliability reputation In the very unlikely event of a problem at least it won't cost the equivalent of the GDP of a small nation to fix!
  4. I think they have it about right, power wise. Great engine to wind up through the gears and one can exploit the power 90% of the time, makes it feel a lot faster than it truly is. Having had the AMG with awesome amounts of power on tap, it did tend to make a lazy drive unless one travelled at hyper-sonic speeds
  5. Check you phone's compatibility here https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/your-vehicle/
  6. Toyota's self-driving, emotion reading, speaking concept car... https://www.autoblog.com/2017/10/16/toyota-to-test-self-driving-talking-concept-i-car-by-about-2020/#slide-4333622 Being totally honest it's my idea of motoring hell but as I'm getting on in life it might be all I can manage by then.. Must say I've spotted one of these round our way and quite taken with the car, going back to real driving At least I'd find it in the car park!
  7. In SILVER?? Very nice cars but have heard many a horror story, wouldn't want to be reliant on one. Even parked up they can suffer a mechanical breakdown... My choice ..
  8. If possible try and see different colours side by side. I don't own an F but when looking at purchasing my RC-F Sport I test drove a Sonic Red (with black interior, not to my taste...) but they also had a silver one waiting to be collected. The red next to the silver was like looking at two different models!
  9. On my 2016 RC that setting needs to be changed by the dealer, it's disabled by default
  10. Can only say for my 2016 Premium system but there is no option to locally delete SMS. One can toggle automatic transfer from the phone though, so perhaps toggle this off (if applicable to your system/year), presumably only new SMS, received whilst connected, will be available in the car system?
  11. Almost certainly because they are still on the phone. Try deleting one from the phone and see if it disappears from the car display?
  12. Would I need to make a reservation, or just mention your name??
  13. Oh, yes and best enjoyed sitting in the sun at a little brasserie on the Route de la Piscine
  14. Pretty sure that's the same as in the Merc autobox. If you restrict the gear range by using the selector or paddles while in any mode other than Manual, the 'box would change up if you kept accelerating. If one lifts off before it would hold in that gear.
  15. "In an automatic transmissions N is actually the same as D in that none of the clutches are engaged except in D there is a mechanical connection to an internal transmission brake. This brake has nothing to do with your wheel brakes and it come on mechanically so the engine does not need to be running for it to work." "The forward creep is caused by the transmissions torque converter. There is nothing slipping or wearing or heating up to any significant extent in there. It’s all done hydraulically and nothing is wearing to worry about. BUT!!!! When you are in N and the engine is turning and the wheels are stopped then for this to occur the main forward clutch is disengaged and it is SLIGHTLY SLIPPING. So the clutch plates are wearing." https://mechanics.stackexchange.com/a/18561 It's all too complicated for my little brain.... I stick it in Drive and leave it there until I park up
  16. Just rip the horns off and wipe it's arse ... Or in polite company, A good vet could revive it!
